I hope that RapidRainbow does not mind me starting Part II of the thread - if you do let me know & I'll ask for it to be deleted.

It would just be a shame to not carry on as this is such a positive place.

Part I is here:

Peachsquish...I have been thinking about this a lot and its only my thoughts, but I think the higher percentage for underlying conditions is within your age group which is like me 0.4, and so I think it would lie a similar mark ...I may be wrong but if I am then the statistics dont make sense . Best thing stay calm and dont panic, and I hope that comes across as reassuring which is genuinely how I mean it.

tobee · 14/03/2020 21:39

Yay to Trevor @MortyFide

magimedi · 14/03/2020 22:06

DH & I were talking about his mother today (she was born pre 1920).

We both remembered her talking about her beloved brother who was sent to Asia in WWII. It took 8 weeks before they heard he'd got there OK. And that letter was dated 6 weeks before they got it.

My DC & precious GC live in another country & I am not sure when I'll see them again - but we have Skype, emails & endless photos.

We are so lucky with the instant communications we have today.

I'm having an anxiety attack...not about CV, about having a new puppy! Oh shit, why did I ever agree to it. I hated it the first time around, what on earth made me think I'd want the puppy period ever again? I feel like I'm going to have no life and constantly interrupted sleep for weeks, DH wanted a puppy but he'll sleep through it all. I'll try to follow some reasonable instructions from dog training YouTube channels but DH will disagree with them all.

So far Trevor rips up his puppy pads, drinks constantly and pees indiscriminately, can't get up or down the back step by himself but seems to hate being picked up so he runs away and pees before you can carry him outside. And he keeps pulling up my lawn in clumps and wants to eat gravel. Aargh I'm missing my independence already!

If my building goes into lockdown and people start making a racket like that, I’ll kill them anyway.

Sorry, that wasn’t positive.

This made me laugh

I love this thread

Went to an Aldi earlier and it looked like it had been ransacked

It's this selfish behaviour of so many people that scares me, not the virus

Dianne “ It's this selfish behaviour of so many people that scares me, not the virus”

This! I was out today and my friend and I were looking round in case we got jumped on for taking our hand sanitizer out in the restaurant!

Alsohuman · 14/03/2020 22:48

But he’s a delight to cuddle, isn’t he Mortyfide?

Canshopwillshop · 14/03/2020 22:55

@MortyFide - it will be fine. The first few days is hard but it will get better and he is gorgeous!

Canshopwillshop · 14/03/2020 22:56

are hard

PrivateSpidey · 14/03/2020 23:09

Posting for the first time on this fantastic thread (s), although I've been lurking for a while. It's great to read sensible and positive posts (and see puppy pictures).

And I agree with PP that magi is a gem!

Gotham so sorry about your party. Many happy returns to you Flowers

I was in the supermarket today eyeing up the hot cross buns, and a woman next to me said she was getting extra just in case she needed to self isolate - "it's best to have the essentials... Mind you these will be gone by Monday." Grin We had a bit of a chat and a laugh.

Just having a "typical" conversation with someone was reassuring in itself.

And I got two packs of hot cross buns.

Oh no sorry!! That last post should have been on the tennis thread! Blush

At least magi and tobee will know what I'm on about!!

JimandWilson · 14/03/2020 23:29

Thank goodness for this thread.

AutumnRose1 · 14/03/2020 23:32

Private that’s cool, I was wondering about the tennis.

PrivateSpidey · 15/03/2020 00:00

Autumn yes it's postponed for 6 weeks... but I've watched a couple of old matches on YouTube. Which has been good because I chose ones where I knew the player I like won! Which doesn't usually happen that often in reality...

MortyFide · 15/03/2020 02:16

I guess he is Alsohuman! We went to bed at 9.40pm, I've got him in a little playpen type thing down on the floor next to the bed. He dozed off ok, cried at around 11pm but settled quickly when he realised I was right next to him - cried again at 12 so I took him outside for a wee, after which he lay straight down again - cried again at 1.30pm and was desperate to bite and play, settled again now but DH is awake and reading me all the latest CV news aloud from the BBC. Trevor will be due a wee again soon so when he wakes up DH can take him out and stop telling me about rationing and munitions in WW2...

Silver linings and all

magimedi · 15/03/2020 07:16

Private you made me laugh!!

Woke early & did feel a bit gloomy so picked up my kindle & got stuck in. I'm reading Silver by Chris Hammer - it's a really good thriller/muder mystery set in Australia. His first book Scrublands was really gripping & it's great to take oneself away in a book atm.

SILVER is only 99p on kindle atm.

Aww, Trevor ❤️

I’ve never had a pup, only older rescue dogs. OH wants a collie pup (he grew up with coilies, so is under no illusions), but it’s not the right time at the mo, but I’d love to do agility. (Previous dogs have been lazy buggers...)

Has anyone got anything planned today? I ought to get up and sort out the ponies. Old pony was clipped yesterday and was feeling a bit..fresh

DD has a cough, her usual post-cold asthma cough. School have said that coughing children must not go in, so I guess she’ll be home with me tomorrow.

Spudlet · 15/03/2020 07:29

Running for me today - just as soon as I can haul my lazy bum out of bed Grin It’s sooooo comfy and DS is having a rare lie-in - can’t squander this!

I deleted Facebook from my phone yesterday as apparently I have a few drama llamas on my friends list. I’m missing my running group but feel much more peaceful generally without a lot of unqualified people posting about dooooooooooooom.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/03/2020 07:47

I'm in a forum one for people with a high genetic risk of getting dementia - it is far less 'woe is me' than this topic area on MN..

People are calm and kind, no-one is blaming others and taking it out on them, just calmly looking at stuff to help themselves etc and supportive each other.

I can't help but wonder at the difference.

Anyway we have the Half marathon locally today, hoping it doesn't rain too badly for them.

Fev11 · 15/03/2020 07:55

I’ve been wondering what I can do to be useful and think I’ve found it! This definitely gave me reassurance that there are still plenty of positive and kind people quietly planning to help us all get through

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-51880695

I’m going to fill some out and drop them off locally and in the village shop as we have quite a few older neighbours.

I feel more positive already :)

M0reGinPlease · 15/03/2020 08:12

Morning all. How are the pups today?

I'm having a bit of a paranoia attack this morning. DD wants to go to the zoo and I think the fresh air will do is good. There's no advice about avoiding public spaces currently is there? We wash our hands regularly at the zoo anyway. Plus, DH has a rare Sunday off so we want some family time.

What's everyone else up to today?
