I hope that RapidRainbow does not mind me starting Part II of the thread - if you do let me know & I'll ask for it to be deleted.

It would just be a shame to not carry on as this is such a positive place.

Part I is here:

My hands were getting really sore & I have stopped using liquid soap & just use bar soap (Simple soap) every time. Hands still need cream but are not sore & chapped.

Morning all.

The nice thing that I'm going to do for myself today is find my kindle, download a book and read for a while.

I walk dogs for a living so I will be in the calming outdoors a lot today, I'm taking a big bottle of water to drink and am going to give every dog who enjoys one a great big cuddle.

I usually listen to radio 4 or 5 non stop all day. So far I've found them pretty good, and balanced- but I think maybe I'm over immersing myself too much. Maybe I should try a podcast, I need to find one that I can listen to without my mind wandering.

I found this article very helpful. Not feeling great this morning but that appears to be a pattern for me - feel dreadful in the morning then gradually better until almost normal-ish in the evening.

magimedi · 13/03/2020 07:56

Pineapple I too feel worst in the mornings. I'm retired so can easily 'loll' around for ages first thing. I've taken to getting up & getting on with something as soon as possible, be it hoovering or going out for a walk. It makes me feel much better. Just finishing my coffee while I write this & then will hoover & then go out for a walk & do any 'lolling' later in the day.

Hi everyone

Have lurked since the start of thread 1 so hellooooo.

Lovely to be here with all the pets and positivity.

Canshopwillshop · 13/03/2020 08:06

@MortyFide - he is gorgeous! Lucky you.

KnottyAndPistey · 13/03/2020 08:06

On another note

DD is scheduled to have her tonsils out on Wednesday

It’s a day case and latest correspondence says it’s going ahead. But things can change.

Why is it when you say to people about something like a tonsillectomy they feel obliged to give you their horror stories?!

KnottyAndPistey · 13/03/2020 08:07

Also this did genuinely make me HOOT!

Oh look at that beautiful puppy, what a lovely start to the day. I’m drinking my first cup of tea, eating some delicious seeded toast and contemplating the sunshine on my garden. It’s very nice.

KnottyAndPistey · 13/03/2020 08:12

Also I bought a frock yesterday that is so skimming that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to wear undercrackers with it. That’s a dilemma

Laniakea · 13/03/2020 08:15

MortyFide He’s gorgeous!

We use the simple bar soap too - have done for 25 years! You can get boxes of 24 from amazon for about £18 (there are six of us, we get through it quickly!). And I go some Norwegian hand cream too - dd won’t use it because it is too greasy but it is effective.

Mine main worries atm are that all the ppl screaming for schools to be shut down are going to obliterate the NHS at the worst possible time, that my eldest will lose her job & home (hospitality), that the economy will never recover & that I’ll never get over the disgust that I feel at many of my fellow Brits. Ho hum!

Laniakea · 13/03/2020 08:17

Voila!

I ordered a load of plants & plant food yesterday - I’m going to make my garden really beautiful :)

Morning everyone. Having a very normal day. Car gone for service. Having coffee in town as I type and then going for a walk later. Had loads of birds and squirrels in the garden this morning. It is a beautiful day in Yorkshire. Happy Friday

Stickywhitelovepiss · 13/03/2020 08:33

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet? Very reassuring...

@pineappledanish that is a great article. From almost making myself sick worry I am now learning that I want to enjoy life and live in the here and now...Even without Coronavirus we don't know what is round the corner. Hopefully this might unite the nation more.

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 13/03/2020 08:49

@MortyFide - he is absolutely GORGEOUS! You will have lots of fun with him!

I love those earrings and would absolutely wear them... Blush

I agree about the mornings being the worst time. DH gets up and disturbs me at arse o'clock in the morning, which is a bit early for me to be doing stuff, so this morning I tried some of the relaxing noise channels on YouTube. I had to try a few - one that was supposed to be gentle rain had me worrying I was going to be washed away, and then I needed a pee - but I found a lovely coastal one and - well - I'm just getting up... Blush

Arcadia · 13/03/2020 08:54

A lovely sunny morning here, lots of spring flowers! Today is my day off work so I'm going to binge watch all the Celebs go dating episodes that I've missed - love the voiceover! Smile

Spudlet · 13/03/2020 08:56

@PineappleDanish That’s a great article!

Things got a bit on top of me last night and I didn’t sleep very well... I felt better once I cancelled a commitment I had for the weekend which I was worried about, and managed to drop off when that was done. I hate that I felt I needed to, but it was costing me too much, mentally. I’m trying to frame it to myself as an act of self-care.

However I have a run to do on Sunday and I am determined to do it - I paid for it and I want my medal!

Blustery and grey here today - taking DS for a haircut later. We worked out that he hasn’t been since November and frankly, he’s getting a mullet Grin Action must be taken urgently!

Pic of ddog giving post-run snuggles. He’s appalled that he doesn’t get to come with me, but he’s a terrible running buddy. He’s deaf, so can’t really be off the lead, and a bit arthritic so he doesn’t like the constant pounding along on the lead. Plus he stops suddenly for interesting smells and sends me flying!

Sticky white - that’s great chart and data. I’m going to show my mum that.

Orangeblossom78 · 13/03/2020 09:09

Loving the pictures of pets Flowers

Is there any way I can access only this thread?? If the peak isn't expected til june/July I cant deal with the level of panic for the next 3 months. I might have to leave MN (again)

I struggled with hiding the topic and ended up putting Mumsnet in the bin! (dragging my bookmark on the mac to the bin) and just googling this topic, instead. It is so easy to get drawn into the other threads which leaves me feeling worse.

I've also made my phone stress free, deleted social media, so it just has on it:

Spotify, Fitbit, Weather, Calm app etc

So nice range of things to look at and listen to. In particular the Calm app has nice 'sleep stories', listened to one about a train trip in Canada last night for example, and Spotify has some good Podcasts.

It's a nice bright day today, walked the DC to school where they have a day for Sports relief, a charity day so they are all wearing their favourite sports kits today - lots of good exercise for them today.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 13/03/2020 09:10

Stickywhite - Thanks for posting that chart. When I first looked at it, I felt v depressed at the rate for 60+ people (I am 65). But when I looked again, I saw the breakdown for underlying health issues and felt better as I have none! I am also a non-smoker. All in all I feel a bit better after a very long, sleepless, worry-filled night!

Just been for a dog walk on the beach which was lovely!

M0reGinPlease · 13/03/2020 09:13

Okay I know we're on a positive thread so I'll get this off my chest early in the day. I'm deleting social media as well as the news apps now as I cannot bear the absolute SHITE that friends I once thought to be reasonably intelligent are sharing. Anyone seen the one about holding your breath for ten seconds first thing in the morning and if you can do it you don't have the virus?! I mean, it's actually making me laugh now which I suppose is a good thing.

Positive stuff: sun shining (again) and DD excited about doing her sport relief mile this morning.

Orangeblossom78 · 13/03/2020 09:14

Radio 6 music is good and positive and there is also Radio 6 Extra which is mainly stories etc if anyone is finding Radio 4 a bit much.

MortyFide · 13/03/2020 09:28

Loving the bog roll earrings. Grin

We are very excited about the puppy, he's coming home tomorrow (but he's halfway up the country so we are heading up there tonight, from about as far south as you can get without being underwater).

I'm idly skimming the other threads, but they don't trigger me, I just scroll on by muttering "idiot", "arsehole" or "are you thick?"

I am feeling confident and avoiding negative thoughts. On the other hand, I started my brand new shiny HRT this morning and I'm feeling decidedly weird Confused

Wannabangbang · 13/03/2020 09:31

Hi everyone joining because all of this is giving me anxiety. Im not watching any news channels as of today. Tik tok is quite positive as even the corona videos are mostly funny and uplifting.
Im trying to just shy away from it all tbh as if i think about it too much it just eats away at me.
Im prefering to watch kids channedls with my dc of mornings now as theres no talk of it on there Wink
