I hope that RapidRainbow does not mind me starting Part II of the thread - if you do let me know & I'll ask for it to be deleted.

It would just be a shame to not carry on as this is such a positive place.

Part I is here:

@Kateg1982 I've seen that one but it's definitely worth another watch! So cute thank you!

Laniakea · 13/03/2020 00:22

I've been using cerave lotion for dry/very dry, it doesn't feel greasy at all. One of my dd's has very sensitive skin & loads of sensory issues - her hands are raw from washing Sad & that's pretty much all she'll tolerate.

peoplepleaser1 · 13/03/2020 00:34

@Furries what a lovely post.

I just wanted to say that from my POV you absolutely don't need to have children to be a fully fledged part of mumsnet.

I have one DC but the vast majority of my posts have nothing to do with DC or being a parent.

I realise you may be happy mostly lurking anyway though......

purpleme12 · 13/03/2020 00:39

My child's hands are all blotchy and red and dry too. I've got cream for excema. But it's another thing to worry about cos we can't stop the hand washing more often thing can we. And it makes me worried they'll get worse and get cut

raybentos · 13/03/2020 00:44

Kudos to everyone who posts here. This is my favourite thread on MNThanks

raybentos · 13/03/2020 00:48

@tobee Nip & Fab Hand cream is amazing. I discovered it by accident on sale near the checkout at Superdrug and use it most evenings now. It's not greasy & soaks in really quick.

WindFlower92 · 13/03/2020 00:52

Here for a bit of respite from the rest of the internet! DD has been vomiting so staying up with her. Would normally peruse MN and Facebook but literally every other post mentions cv! It's not even necessarily negative, it's just constant reminders everywhere that are exhausting me! Agree with pp, I can't keep up with this level of panic for 3 months potentially. Doesn't help that FIL is panicking and sending DH articles to make him worried. I guess all this shows how people can have the same statistics/info and come to different conclusions.

Anyway, any positive cv news today? China's cases are way down, and I'm glad to see very few cases across Africa! Was worried about it hitting poorer countries but they haven't had much spread. Is it the weather?

raybentos · 13/03/2020 01:04

My positive news is that the UKs worst case death scenario figures & the estimates on here are wildly over exaggerated @WindFlower92

tobee · 13/03/2020 01:15

Oh thanks everyone for the hand cream responses!

Hoping we all, at the very least, get used to this new way of life with cv, reasonably soon!

OtterPotter · 13/03/2020 01:17

The nicest hand cream I've ever found is BodyShop Hemp hand cream. It doesn't smell particularly nice but it's so creamy and lush. My DH uses it on his eczema hands.

I've stocked up on Lidl Cien hand cream, got a nice oatmeal one which i keep by the bed for my over-washed hands!

tobee · 13/03/2020 01:21

I believe (read somewhere) that it struggles in heat of about 26 degrees Celsius? WindFlower92

tobee · 13/03/2020 01:22

Ooh I think I've got some of that hemp cream somewhere OtterPotter !

HeIenaDove · 13/03/2020 01:23

I recently discovered Garnier Intensive 7 Days Restoring Hand Cream for Dry and Chapped Hands

(hands stay hydrated even after washing)

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/03/2020 01:31

@tobee - I find the aveeno cream excellent - I get the occasional patch of eczema and it really helps clear them up.

I have calmed down now - I’m still a bit stressed, mainly because we don’t know what is going to happen and I am afraid of the unknown and of change. But I am hoping that it won’t be anything like as bad as my worst fears.

Also, dh is going to be at home for six weeks gardening leave from early April so I will have him under foot to take my mind off the virus!

tobee · 13/03/2020 01:33

Thanks again! Smile

Isla727 · 13/03/2020 02:11

Just to add to the handwashing suggestions. I have very severe OCD so quite literally (I have counted) wash my hands 100+ x each day. I find that if I put on Neutrogena Norwegian Formula at night it turns the chapped, bleeding skin on my hands into normal skin by morning. It's best to apply it just before bed as then you won't wash it off.

Isla727 · 13/03/2020 02:12

** sorry 'hand cream' not 'handwashing'

Isla727 · 13/03/2020 02:14

@peoplepleaser1, that's really helpful- thank you! :)

Franklymydearidontgiveadam · 13/03/2020 04:29

I can't sleep and I've just opened two emails one from bloody curry's and another from a restaurant in NYC (still on mail list from last year) all about corona. Its constant. I may not even check personal email accounts til thus blows over xx

Millie2013 · 13/03/2020 06:05

Morning everyone, sending calming vibes to you all Flowers Ecxcellent advice from Peoplepleaser, there are some lovely little signs of spring around here. I’m sooo looking forward to being able to drink my first cup of tea of the day, sitting on the patio with my little rabbit hopping around my feet.
(I’m also looking forward to ditching my ugg boots, I bought some lovely mustard coloured pumps in sainsbos the other day, for a bargain £9)

Anyone up for doing something nice for themselves/a bit of self care today? Nothing extravagant, maybe a chocolate bar treat, coffee in a favourite mug, using the nice shower gel, lighting that posh candle, cake...

MortyFide · 13/03/2020 06:26

Been lurking on this thread, I'm not over-anxious about CV as such but the sense public fear and panic is making me a bit nervous generally. So it's nice to come here and see common sense and positivity.

I am also emetophobic so I've been an avid handwasher and hand sanitiser for years (desperately avoiding norovirus) - the sore hands are not new to me, just keep up with the hand cream, especially overnight. I use E45, Aveeno, and Cetraben.

On the topic of cute animals, I'm getting a new puppy tomorrow if that cheers anyone up? Grin

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 13/03/2020 06:46

@MortyFide - well, that certainly cheers me up! What breed? We demand photos!

I was at the doctor's yesterday (nothing to do with this blessed virus). We got talking about it, and he said that he was quite looking forward to getting it because he could do with two weeks off! So he's not worried!

MortyFide · 13/03/2020 06:57

He is a border terrier. Smile

Yes, the GP I spoke to on the phone was fairly relaxed about CV as well.

ExpletiveDelighted · 13/03/2020 07:02

He's gorgeous.
