After today's cobra meeting is it likely that we will officially be in the 'delay' phase with social distancing advised? The Cheltenham festival starts tomorrow and every year brings thousands of drunken fools into town many of whom will have travelled here by plane. It's laughable to think that all of these people will be practicing good hand hygiene when they are usually vomiting in the streets by 9am!

Babyfairy0923 · 09/03/2020 12:15

I really hope some clear guidelines come out of this meeting - unlike the last one, we have a plan but we’re not telling you what it is just wash your hands.

Orangeblossom78 · 09/03/2020 12:15

Placemarking. YY to stress eating. Need to stop that. and coffee drinking. Not turned to booze yet, but did repeat order my co-codomol in so 100 of them on the way.

thesunwillout · 09/03/2020 12:15

Some turnip on BBC news saying, 'for instance I was at Twickenham this weekend which was a large amount of people'
And??!!

So, that's ok then.?

In reference to possibility at the moment of not halting large events.

onalongsabbatical · 09/03/2020 12:15

Bercows I'm comfort/stress eating too, got through 500grams of chocolate brazils in about 48 hours! Blush

TokyoSushi · 09/03/2020 12:18

I'm not sure who the guy is from the department of culture is who has been doing the rounds is but he's really getting on my nerves! Definitely from the 'do nothing and wash your hands brigade' 🙄

TokyoSushi · 09/03/2020 12:20

Ah, It's Oliver Dowden

woodencoffeetable · 09/03/2020 12:21

1-meter-rule enforced at work...

KimonoKim · 09/03/2020 12:21

Agree! @TokyoSushi

He's really winding me up!

Eeyoresstickhouse · 09/03/2020 12:22

TfL worker been diagnosed. No news on what job they held at the moment.

Rocketmam · 09/03/2020 12:22

I'm hoping more comes out of todays Cobra meeting than reminding us to wash our hands with soap and water, again.

usernameishistory · 09/03/2020 12:23

Ha! Thats the office version of motorway chevrons! The empty chair rule!

@Horehound I was wondering that also.

@Steala @MrsStrangerThing thanks for clearing that up.

Kuponut · 09/03/2020 12:23

We're stuck in lectures today with someone who was skiving last week for a holiday in northern Italy. Gleefully telling everyone how it was really quiet because of corona and seeing nothing wrong in being back (despite the fact we go into placements with the elderly).

To say I'm pissed off is an understatement - I can't skip today - skipping what I can get away with at the moment.

woodencoffeetable · 09/03/2020 12:24

european parliament to discuss covid-19 tomorrow

WouldShouldCould · 09/03/2020 12:24

News coming in that all six nations rugby matches will be cancelled next weekend. Eng v Italy was already postponed, but France v Ireland now postponed until October.

usernameishistory · 09/03/2020 12:25

The supply chain is confident that people should be panic buying, and there's plenty of supply (brexit preppers feeling smug Grin)

I mean there that supply chains bought up vast additional warehouse space for extra stocks. No reason there should be problems based on that alone we are better prepared for this.

Thats good news isn't it? Smile

My DH's work has just announced closure of all it's offices (worldwide) for at least a month. Working from home now.

Anyone else?

I must say I'm relieved. No more commute into London.

usernameishistory · 09/03/2020 12:26

*shouldn't [be panic buying, stupid auto)

I hope something proactive comes out of today’s Cobra meeting.

Not just, ‘wash your hands’

LH1987 · 09/03/2020 12:28

Thanks for these threads, I have been lurking for a while! As a pregnant diabetic who takes trains to work everyday, needless to say I am more than a little concerned. Access to all this info is actually quite comforting.

fedup21 · 09/03/2020 12:28

@theflushedzebra

Is that private or public sector?

EssentialHummus · 09/03/2020 12:28

zebra DH’s company has now “strongly encouraged” home working for all. Huge multinational tech company.

WouldShouldCould · 09/03/2020 12:28

@theflushedzebra what sector does your husband work in?
