Its intresting isnt it

We are a long way from 'Hamas did this'.

A couple of years perhaps?

And yet countless thread after thread, post after post, still blames the British for A N Other country's ills after hundreds of years, or 80 years in the case of the formation of Israel

We are a long way from 'The British did this'.... and yet apparently this is all our doing. Alone of course, nothing to do with other international powers.

Andy Burnham is wrong and just like Starmer foolishly recognising Palestine as a state, this will come back to be a huge mistake with dangerous consequences

Actually, this is the first time in a very long time that any British government has done anything to align with the values of tolerance and human rights it claims to espouse and uphold on the world stage.

This will go down well in history and Burnham will rightly command international respect. Being a pathetic lapdog to war criminals was getting embarressing.

’Who started this’ is a stupid road to go down now, but it’s ridiculous to suggest that Israel’s actions in Gaza or the West Bank are justified because of October 23. The inconvenient truth is that a very long time before the October 23, Israel was built on Palestinian land, which (whether supported by the British and other powers or not) understandably pissed Palestinians off. I don’t like Hamas or anything they do, they are terrorists. But the fact is that Palestinians tried to resist peacefully to their land being stolen for years before Hamas existed.

This conflict has nothing to do with Jews and Muslims, and everything to do with land. Ultimately, land stolen from Palestinians by Israel.

It had to happen, it took a long time.

Israel hasn’t let up on the demolition ground flattening throughout Palestine where 1000’s of bodies are bury under the rubble.

Forcing peace is the only way forward. There will be consequences and history won’t be kind.

I would be happy to see similar actions in order to show support for the people in the Congo, Nigeria, Sudan and all the other countries being slaughtered by extreme measures.

Where do posters think that the survivors in Palestine will be moving to, they’re moving to Europe of course as many already have, you cannot displace and kill 100,000’s of people.

The naivety of thinking that sanctions against some Israeli goods and Israel closing the UK embassy in Jerusalem will force peace is astounding.

Peace won't happen until Hamas disarm and go and the settlers stop taking over areas not designated to them. Inflammation of tensions and some sanctions which will be very difficult and costly to work out, where did the goods come from, 🤔 the settlements, highly unlikely or mainstream Israeli companies as in NHS medications, appears virtue signalling and costly.

What about the land sold 🤔
What about the Palestinians who left because they were assured that the surrounding countries would beat Israel in a quick war and they should come back 🤔
Not stolen at all.
Since when did the later created term Palestine own all the land 🤔
What about the land stolen by Jordan or is that ok since not Jewish 🤔

What about them? You’re clutching at straws. Sure there were outliers, but as you know, Palestinians overwhelmingly lived in the land and buildings that now make up Israel proper before they were forced out. Many Palestinian families still have the keys to their old houses in what is now Israel.

The fact that there wasn’t a nation state called Palestine means nothing. Lots of areas didn’t have nation states until the west imposed this ideal on them. Palestine was a region where people lived, loved and worked, and built families for generations, which wasn’t someone else’s to take.

Jordan took the West Bank after the creation of Israel and made Palestinians citizens of Jordan, which is a bit different to what happened in what is now Israel in 48!

Is that why Israel are allowing the hundreds of thousands of 1948 Palestinian refugees and their descendants their internationally recognised legal right of return? Oh wait, no. They’re not are they, because the numbers of Palestinian citizens in Israel are deliberately kept low.

@IhatetomatoesSo what? Britain was owned by Rome at that time, and before that, the Saxons from Denmark and Germany .

Jews were kicked out by the Romans from the area 2000 years ago, the whole point of the diaspora. So no, they didn´t have any claim to the land 2000 years later, that is ridiculous and only Israelis are allowed to claim that shit. The land belonged to those who lived there in the early 40s. The point being that after the 2nd World War when the concentration camps were liberated, European nations did not in any way whatsoever want the survivors back so they outsourced the problem and made it a Palestinian problem. So yes, I do believe that the politics of the afterwar created this awful situation where Palestinians became a minority in their own land. I am sure that if the Bible said that Manchester had belonged to the jews 2000 years ago and hundreds of thousands were "encouraged" to leave mainland Europe and settled in the city, kicking out the natives of their homes "because 2000 years ago" there would be massive backlash, but it seems the ME is this vacuum where they have to grin and bear it.

It was always Jewish land, the Jewish were ethnically cleansed from it and would be supported if it was any other race/ethnicity/community (pick whatever word suits)

The formation of a state for Jewish people was mooted in the mid to late 1800s, it was not a new concept to get rid of European Jews post WWII

So should all white people be ethnically cleansed from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and a whole lot more?

mumumental · 09/09/2026 17:56

The Israeli establishment wanted the land so much that they left settlers to snatch it illegally. The whole thing is ridiculous and a cover for land grab.

Bringemout · 09/09/2026 18:01

Jews have always lived there, I have a Palestinian friend who’s grandparents left jerusalem, their neighbours were Jewish and they got on really well, said they were really nice people.

I think you need to learn a bit about Israeli history yourself. Sharon pulled Israelis out of Gaza simply because the cost of their security was too high. Instead he decided the best option was to turn it into an open air prison and contain the millions of Palestinians in a tiny area where they had no way of threatening Israel. On top of that, radical Palestinians (Hamas) were funded and encouraged to over throw the Fatah governing body so as to divide the Palestinians. Israel has never tried to be reasonable or even fair with the Palestinians. Plan Dalet is still on going.

It was not, they had access to the sea and access to egypt. Plus the reason for the fence was all the suicide bombings, what else can you do when your neighbours keep blowing shit up. And on money lets be honest hamas the bastards snaffled a lot of aid plus taxed the shit out of Gazans, Israel didn’t make them do that. And in spite of everything Gazans were still allowed to cross into Israel to work which will basically be over now.

I’d want a fence between me and them too.

And there were always Jews there anyway. This idea that there was no Jewish presence is such BS

Interesting take on history. Perhaps look into Olmert's air sea and land blockade which he implemented after Sharon had his stroke.

You do know there were far more Jews in Baghdad than there were in Jerusalem.

You do know about The Farhud (1941)

And the other pogroms don't you

(I feel a little nausea that Baghdad is being used as an example)

There is something utterly sickening about playing a numbers game with the history of the Jews.

We could discuss the Mossad absolute fuck up in Egypt if you like. Lavon?

Neverstopwondering · 09/09/2026 20:28

Right lets do this properly for anyone reading!

The Farhad in June 1941

Amid a political vacuum and pro-Nazi/anti-British sentiment in Iraq, violent anti-Jewish riots broke out in Baghdad

Over two days of riots, hundreds of Jewish residents were killed, injured, or raped, and widespread looting and destruction of Jewish property

This is just one well known example or at least it should be of you know middle Eastern history or Jewish history

Ever heard of an Israeli historian called Avi Shlaim. He was an Iraqi Jew who can explain it far better than I can. He's written a book about it. He even names the Mossad agents who placed the bombs in Jewish neighbourhoods.
