Literally none of this gives Israeli terrorists the right to do what they are doing across the West Bank to innocent people. As Miliband said it's state supported ethnic cleansing of an illegally occupied population, do you think there is ever an excuse for that? What is the 'other side' to beating old ladies as they harvest their olives and burning out homes with families inside?

Murdering 20,000 innocent children.
There is no defence.

What are you talking about? The poster is clearly stating how Gaza was left 20 years ago in the hope of Gazen independence and self determination leading to peace.

I think you need to learn a bit about Israeli history yourself. Sharon pulled Israelis out of Gaza simply because the cost of their security was too high. Instead he decided the best option was to turn it into an open air prison and contain the millions of Palestinians in a tiny area where they had no way of threatening Israel. On top of that, radical Palestinians (Hamas) were funded and encouraged to over throw the Fatah governing body so as to divide the Palestinians. Israel has never tried to be reasonable or even fair with the Palestinians. Plan Dalet is still on going.

So do nothing?

No, you use the soft power we have by being an ally, you use diplomacy and you dont expect change overnight

This sitution is nothing to do with us, we should keep our beak out, this is affecting the lives of Jewish people in the UK who have nothing to do with any of this

We are asking for danger

I don't agree with settle violence or their behaviour in general. It put back any chance of peace even further than it is now.

Nothing Red Ed says interests me. He has already been undermined quite rightly about this from his department. Reassurances that this is just a hollow gesture and won't affect much have gone out to those concerned.

The whole thing is about trying to win back voters from the Green party and only a little about anyone in the Middle East. Saying that British politicians have been a hindrance to middle Eastern peace for a long time and at some point this has to stop.

I don't agree with settle violence or their behaviour in general. It put back any chance of peace even further than it is now.

I'm confused, why are you here then defending it? You said nothing is one sided so you can tell us 'the other side' to 'settler violence', the beating old ladies as they try and make a living and setting homes on fire with families inside?

Here's a news story, come tell us 'the other side' to 40 masked and armed men smashing windows and setting fire to homes during the night with a pregnant mother and children inside?

‘Israeli settlers set fire to my West Bank family home with children inside’

Israeli settler violence has surged in 2026, leaving Palestinian communities terrified. Alex Croft reports on the burning of an entire village and how such attacks are becoming frighteningly normal

I know all what you are saying. However your take on events is heavily leaning the way you want what happened to be interpreted. There was an amazing chance for agency and future peace that wasn't taken for various reasons. The arabs are as much to blame for that as the Israelis you wish to pin the blame on alone.

I can only say I don't agree. How were the Palestinians possibly responsible or to blame for the British giving their land away to a European ethnic group who had been massively persecuted in Europe.

European ethnic group. Love that.

No but individuals will be impacted, when someone goes home to tell their kids they lost a well paying job because labours scared of losing votes to the greens and various gaza mp’s I’m sure they will feel better.

This doesn’t actually solve any problems in the west bank but it does make life more difficult for people.

Do you think Palestinians want the Occupation? Trust me, they don’t. And they especially don’t want more of it. Palestinians live and breathe politics and have an in built sense of justice, especially of course about their own cause. It’s passed down through the generations and has been since 48 and 67. Generally, they will be happy with this move, even if it is too little and far too late.

likelysuspect · 08/09/2026 23:03

Oh and of course 'The British'.

Where have I defended settler violence? I have commented on posts regarding various matters but definitely have never suggested that. Sorry but if someone posts something I feel like commenting on I do. I don't tend to see matters in black and white so I suppose that can confuse some posters. I will call put Jewish or Israeli supporters as much as Pro pal ones if they post something I feel needs comment on. Basically I can be a little annoying like that but have self recognition.

That is another poster I am guessing

Amusing but not true

Interesting you believe I am someone trolling

Maybe more than one person just doesn't dig your posts

Never claimed to be wise just old and have a foot in the game so to speak

Will stop derailing the thread now

Know that can be a pain in the butt to wanting a good debate. Annoys me sometimes too.

No need to apologise. I didn't really care why you are here, well not enough to need a whole run down on your personality.

I really just wanted to know what you thought the other side to burning people out of their homes was seeing as you claimed that nothing in this conflict is one sided.

How do people arrive at a place they would do that is one direct you could go if were defending I suppose. That is what people said and continue to say about 7th Oct. However I don't seek to defend settler violence because find it vile. Have defender stated that on this thread or possibly the other one I have been on today.

(Yes I am rather chatty so don't engage unless you are willing to allow me that person fault 😁)

Well done to Andy Burnham. I’m glad someone in power has at last stood up in the uk on this issue. We are a long way from “But Hamas did this”.

Its intresting isnt it

We are a long way from 'Hamas did this'.

A couple of years perhaps?

And yet countless thread after thread, post after post, still blames the British for A N Other country's ills after hundreds of years, or 80 years in the case of the formation of Israel

We are a long way from 'The British did this'.... and yet apparently this is all our doing. Alone of course, nothing to do with other international powers.

Andy Burnham is wrong and just like Starmer foolishly recognising Palestine as a state, this will come back to be a huge mistake with dangerous consequences

Well we disagree. The land never did belong to Israel. We shouldn’t support them stealing it.

mumumental · 09/09/2026 08:39

I don’t support the shooting of children outside schools either (reported in the uk press yesterday ). Perhaps that makes me a radical in some eyes.

The area known today as the West Bank formed the core of the ancient Jewish kingdoms of Israel and Judah in biblical times. [1]

(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WestBank), [2] (https://www.adl.org/resources/backgrounder/west-bank)

Ancient HistoryBiblical Era: The region—historically referred to as Judea and Samaria—was the heartland of ancient Jewish history. It contains key holy and historical sites like Hebron, Bethlehem, and ancient Jerusalem. [1]

(https://www.adl.org/resources/backgrounder/west-bank)Sovereignty: Ancient Israelite and Jewish kingdoms and Hasmonean dynasties ruled the region for centuries until the Roman conquest in the 1st century BCE and subsequent expulsions of Jewish populations.Subsequent Rulers: Following the end of ancient Jewish sovereignty, the territory was ruled by successive empires, including the Romans, Byzantines, early Islamic caliphates, Crusaders, Mamluks, and the Ottoman Empire, during which the population became predominantly Arab and Muslim (along with Christian minorities).

It was recorded in The Bible. Surely you have heard of Jerusalem in The Bible, guess what, Jewish people lived there. It wasn't named Israel and it wasn't named Palestine then but to pretend it only belongs to Palestinians is laughable.

However, I dont support settler violence against people that currently live in the area. Added for the obvious reasons

Jews were kicked out by the Romans from the area 2000 years ago, the whole point of the diaspora. So no, they didn´t have any claim to the land 2000 years later, that is ridiculous and only Israelis are allowed to claim that shit. The land belonged to those who lived there in the early 40s. The point being that after the 2nd World War when the concentration camps were liberated, European nations did not in any way whatsoever want the survivors back so they outsourced the problem and made it a Palestinian problem. So yes, I do believe that the politics of the afterwar created this awful situation where Palestinians became a minority in their own land. I am sure that if the Bible said that Manchester had belonged to the jews 2000 years ago and hundreds of thousands were "encouraged" to leave mainland Europe and settled in the city, kicking out the natives of their homes "because 2000 years ago" there would be massive backlash, but it seems the ME is this vacuum where they have to grin and bear it.

You've missed that it wasn't named Palestine after the second World War 🙄 there were a mixture of people living there! People used terms such as Arab or Muslim to describe themselves. Since Jews driven out of other middle eastern countries where they had lived for centuries, needed to go somewhere so they went to Israel. The land doesn't just belong to those who now call themselves Palestinian.

Shame they cannot all live together since the area has meaning to Jewish, then meaning to Christianity, which came along later, and meaning to Muslims, the Islamic faith arriving later again to the region and to any non religious people too.

Claiming anyone owns land because thousands of years ago their ancestors lived there is ridiculous. Jews lived all over the Middle East long before Islam. DNA testing shows that Palestinians have a genetic link to many Jews which proves that they are themselves descended from Jews of the area. Prior to 1948 if you asked a Jew, a Christian or a Muslim who had been living in the area for generations what they were, they would have all said Falastini and they would have all spoken Arabic. You are so right about your statement that it is a shame that they can't all just live together and share the land.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 09/09/2026 10:22

It had to happen, it took a long time.

Israel hasn’t let up on the demolition ground flattening throughout Palestine where 1000’s of bodies are bury under the rubble.

Forcing peace is the only way forward. There will be consequences and history won’t be kind.

I would be happy to see similar actions in order to show support for the people in the Congo, Nigeria, Sudan and all the other countries being slaughtered by extreme measures.

Where do posters think that the survivors in Palestine will be moving to, they’re moving to Europe of course as many already have, you cannot displace and kill 100,000’s of people.
