Thanks Red and others, I do not argue for these people who I may wholeheartedly disagree with to be censored. I do think it is stupid and dumb to wang on about "remigration" and "immigrants" without acknowledging the fallout from military intervention our politicians took part in.

If you have a point to make, why not make it? Because tagging her name in like that is really whataboutism. If you think a country should be bombed because of what happened to her, then state your case and explain why.

I care very deeply about Mahsa Amini. I think it is disgusting that the crime was covered up. However, I believe her tragic case is one of the driving factors that resulted in the morality police being disbanded and the easing of the enforcement of the hijab. Although it is still law, there are many women who completely defy the rule and are not prosecuted. Having said that, the bastards who effectively beat her to death in the van should have been publicly prosecuted.

Off on a tangent. I think there is also a connection to people who defend the ICE shootings in the US. No doubt a sociologist has done a paper on it with a Venn diagram shown the overlap. Defend ICE/ Bomb other countries/ no refugees.

It's not beyond the bounds of reality to make a big gas find in proximity to known oil & gas fields. However I get your point, and commercial entities will now be on the backfoot with fomo, in case the story is real.

Keep in mind that Iran already has the world's second largest gas reserves, after Russia.

He put the average oil exports through the strait over a seven-day period at more than 8 million barrels a day. Earlier this month, Wright said the seven-day average stood at around 9 million barrels a day.
The count from commercial ship trackers tells a different story, with estimates ranging from roughly 2 million to 6 million barrels a day. Industry figures on the amount of crude oil and oil products being loaded onto ships in the Persian Gulf and delivered to buyers don’t corroborate the U.S. claims.”

I missed the boat on replying to the democracy posts but here goes. I would cross reference the desire for democracy to the hierarchy of needs. When you're hungry, living on a garbage pit and scrambling for shelter, you tend to care less for the colour of your government and more on just sustaining life.

Attacks against me are often personal (that will explain why I report them and why they get deleted) but I've been told by people on here that reporting posts is childish and anti free speech.

How confusing to come back to this thread to see that posts from a newcomer have been deleted so quickly! Maybe free speech isn't such a thing after all when it comes to personal attacks against others.

My experience from other threads is that those kind of posters do get dealt with swiftly by MN

Putting together the WSJ article with the news of another attack in the Red Sea and I'm not exactly sure what more the US can practically do, but happy to hear Bessent's plans. Colour me surprised if we get any details. Will it be as ambiguous as the now defunct MOU? Will the US be skating into war crimes territory?
