Israel attacked Iran early on Saturday morning, saying it had “launched a pre-emptive strike against Iran to remove threats to the state of Israel,” according to a military spokesman.

Israel closed its airspace and declared a state of emergency, in anticipation of
Iranian drone and missile strikes in response.

Explosions were heard in Tehran on Saturday, Iranian media reported.

I'd imagine that that was in retaliation for the desalination plant that the US destroyed in Iran leaving 30 villages without water. After that strike Iran said that the US were making a grave mistake destroying civillian infrastructure and that the US were setting the precedent for this. Iran claims that the attack on their desalination came from US forces in Bahrain.

Yes. The Iranian regime are always keen to protect civilians

SpaceRaccoon · 08/03/2026 09:42

IRGC spokespeople still hard at it I see.

Never right to strike a desalination plant.

But the US are at war with Iran whereas Iran aren't at war with Bahrain so is them striking Bahrain really comparable because "retaliation"? I don't think so.

Still, Iran are making a lot of mistakes right now alienating lots of other countries in the region that had a stable relationship with them before this. So it's all helpful to the downfall of the regime, though could have humanitarian consequences.

I was just giving context as to why it might have happened. Not defending anyone, destroying civillian infrastructure is against international law for both Iran and the US. None of the main players involved in this conflict have proven themselves to care about civillians.

I mistook this thread for a news thread, where people share what is happening, hence sharing what happened. I'll hop away now that I know what type of thread it really is.

It's a news thread and also a thread for people sharing opinions/debating opinions.

It is quite obvious like Hamas the Iranians are going to use propaganda to change opinion in the west. So much shite has been spouted by Iran militarily (hitting an aircraft carrier, capturing US soldiers) we really do have to take anything said by thr regime with a bucket load of salt.

Rumours now that the UAE is directly striking Iran, but can't find official confirmation yet.

mids2019 · 08/03/2026 11:31

I don't think many protesters will mention the UAE as they are not Jewish. The idea of Israel and the UAE having a common enemy will blow their minds......

Can you list which bases were being used and then where was struck by Iran?

I don’t think they match up

Have any/ many been struck at all I believe they are being intercepted in the air

Im not watching them mind you, just getting that from the various news outlets

I don’t think Iran are striking those allowing bases to be used, it’s just indiscriminate against their neighbours.

Not the best strategy as it leaves them isolated.

Yesterday Iran attacked the US air combat centre and a satellite communications hub at Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE

The base hosts US forces and serves as a key hub for American air operations in the Persian Gulf.

The US have moved personnel out of some bases though.

They’re striking loads of stuff and have managed to piss off their neighbours in the process.

It’s amazing that Iran who have no accuracy with their weapons according to Trump are hitting these targets especially as he also said the US had wiped out all their missiles and the manufacturing facility.

Yes. And also amazing how the narrative is that the Iranian missiles can't get within multiple km's of a target because they are so inaccurate, yet when they hit a tower block or an Hotel, the story from the US suddenly changes to Iran are maliciously targeting them. With missiles they don't have, fired from launch sites that were destroyed.

When did the US say they had wiped out all Iran's missiles?

I'm not aware that the US is claiming that Iran "don't have" any missiles now or that all the launch sites have been destroyed.

Where is your evidence/source for those claims?

Trump has said it.

This is maybe not the best news site here, but I just searched " for Trump claims all Iranian missile stocks destroyed" He has said it. He has said pretty much everything the last few days. I saw the news where he said it, but was in a feed.

That completely misses the point. Firing what they know full well are inaccurate missiles which then hit civilians is malicious. The Iranian targeting is launching missiles and drones and not caring who they kill.

How many launchers have been destroyed can’t be known. Personally, I’d trust the US above the Iranian regime crazies every time.

I cannot understand how people can pipe up in support of the mullahs. It’s like backing the Taliban.

It’s hard to keep up with all the lies I know.

Twiglets1 · 08/03/2026 14:03

@RedTagAlan @JaneJeffer firstly, do we consider Trump a reputable source now that people will repeat his claims as the truth.

Secondly, even Trump doesn't claim Iran has no missiles and no launch sites, he is talking about stockpiles and no doubt exaggerating as he does.

Iran are still shooting missiles from launch sites so ...why repeat bullshit stories about them having no missiles & not having launch sites.
