Israel attacked Iran early on Saturday morning, saying it had “launched a pre-emptive strike against Iran to remove threats to the state of Israel,” according to a military spokesman.

Israel closed its airspace and declared a state of emergency, in anticipation of
Iranian drone and missile strikes in response.

Explosions were heard in Tehran on Saturday, Iranian media reported.

You mean by one of their own missiles misfiring, seeing as it was in an IRGC compound next to the school? Shame on them indeed.

No proof…. More guesswork
Again

Oh my god! Women dancing, and women without compulsory hijabs, that's wonderful!

TerracottaWorrier · 28/02/2026 20:17

Right. Unsurprisingly, The Guardian was reporting it as having happened while stoically avoiding any images or reports of support inside Iran for the US attacks.

I would denounce them but this point I expect nothing less than pathetic bias from the Hamas apologists.

Let's not circulate Iranian propaganda.

War photographer Maryam Mazrooei is sharing a lot from Iran on IG. Her interview with the Telegraph last week was fantastic.

Hey, it was you guys that started going on about the school thing, without any proof beyond "Iranian authorities say".

Just be happy for the Iranians. This is their moment, at last.

We were talking about ignorance earlier.... someone on another thread claims that Golda Meir started the Yom Kippur War!

Do you have a link to the report, and does it include independent verification beyond "Iranian authorites say"?

Why are you supporting the Iranian regime, Stirabout?

What is it you like about them?

AnSpideog · 28/02/2026 20:54

@TerracottaWorrier that’s not true. They have an article that makes clear that this was a report by state media. That they can’t verify this claim but that Reuters have verified that a video released is of the school which was behind a revolutionary guards building….

If it is true and we don’t know yet. It’s not extraordinary news that when you launch an air attack, innocent lives are lost in error.

It then goes on to interview people who are both frightened of the bombs and wary of what’s going to happen while also being hair government buildings are being hit.

It’s decent reporting.

Love seeing this post from Nioh Berg. I follow her on X and it seemed like she was loosing hope that the help promised to the Iranian protesters by the U.S. would ever arrive.

Why would Israel or the U.S. randomly target a school in Iran? Why would they want to purposefully alienate people who’ve been asking for their support?

They wouldn't randomly target civilians, period.

Quoting a hostile government doesn’t count as verification. Both Reuters and the New York Times have verifed social media footage of the aftermath at the school as being in the time and place it is purportedly from.

They have not verified that a US bomb hit the school, this wouldn’t be possible. But the footage of the aftermath appears to the real.

Can you repost it please? I'm not seeing it on this thread.

I've found some Guardian links you posted on the other thread. This is what they say:

  • "Dozens of students were reportedly killed in a strike on a primary school in the south-east. Iranian media is reporting at least 201 people have been killed in total and 747 injured."

Bolding added by me. So no independent confirmation.

They may have been targeting the building beside it.

I'm more than happy to wait and see what the outcome is. But a few posters were very, very quick off the mark to start denouncing Israel and claiming confidently it was them.

On a much happier note, street parties in Iran:

Oh you don't support them then?

Apologies, I must have misread your comments.

It's horrible, how they killed thousands for protesting, don't you agree?

That’s not true
We stated there had been no third party verification

I fact one poster even said by stating it wasn’t independently verified meant we didn’t believe it
That’s not actually how it works

Amazing how posters chose to believe any old thing from Twitter et all without independent verification or indeed
stating it hasn’t been verified as a caveat.

Meanwhile
Very Happy for the Iranians

‘ Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in an Israeli strike Saturday as part of a massive joint military operation between the U.S. and Israel, Israel's ambassador to Washington told U.S. officials.
The latest: President Trump told NBC News that "we feel certain" Khamenei is dead, along with "most" of Iran's senior leadership’
