Why are Palestinians tortured in Israeli prisons?

Leftisrightisleft · 15/10/2025 08:56

We have heard time and time again from detained Palestinians once they are freed, about the extensive torture and abuse they faced at the hands of Israeli prisons guards.

Is this legal in Israel? Is that why nothing is done about it?

The Israeli army continues sporadic attacks on Palestinians despite ceasefire, our team on the ground reports, as health ministry reports more killed in the last day.
Hamas has handed over the bodies of four more Israelis to the Red Cross, bringing the number of released deceased captives to eight. Three bodies have been identified by family, while Israeli army says fourth does not match any recorded captive
Israel says it will only allow half the agreed number of aid trucks into Gaza and has delayed the opening of the Rafah Crossing, citing the slow release of the dead captives. Some 20 bodies are still in Gaza.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 67,938 people and wounded 170,169 since October 2023. A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023, attacks, and about 200 were taken captive.

The war crimes, they continue.
Yay Israel!

And footage of Benny Nets basically rubbing his hands with glee at the idea that Hamas won't find all the body's and effectively invalidate the ceasefire so he can go in with all the force he wants and Trumps blessing.

But actually, please share those clips because I haven't seen them.

Benny nets? Is this all some kind of joke to you?

There isn't any footage of BN 'rubbing his hands in glee'. There is footage of released murderers and terrorists promising a repeat of Oct 7th though.

I'm just not going to respect his name, CBA typing it out in full. You got who I meant.

Show me the footage, please. I can't find it.

These are the type of people who truly believe Hamas atrocities are ‘justified resistance’ and these terrorists are just misunderstood and traumatised by Israel having security measures in place to try to stop them killing Jews.

Poor lambs.

No we just don't support torture which is a war crime. I support following the rules of law once you get state sponsored torture where does it end?

Not supporting torture is not the same as justifying the actions of terrorists so you can quit your hyperbole

AmIthatSpringy · 15/10/2025 15:42

What, you mean like .....trolls? Bots?

I think it's possible that some of them are bots and that some are real people systematically attempting to undermine the position of people supporting Palestinians. I can't know for sure obviously, but there is a lot of this kind of propaganda on social media in general. Mumsnet is a big platform so it could be a target. Who knows.

Everexpanding · 15/10/2025 16:54

I would like to think people justifying torture, and deriding those who criticise the state carrying it out, are bots, but unfortunately I don’t think they all are.
I think some people are living in denial, or so blinded by hatred they no longer see Palestinians as human, many posts on here demonstrate horrifically callous attitudes to even the deaths of Palestinian children, let alone the torture of prisoners

PrawnAgain · 15/10/2025 17:08

You might find this interesting. It has details of some appalling treatment of Palestinians, many of whom are locked up without trial.

In a HWW report from October 2024,healthcare workers who had been locked inside Israeli detention facilities gave testimonies of being electrocuted, hung by their arms from ceilings, being sexually assaulted and having their genitals mutilated.”

“Frankly, no matter how much I talk about what I experienced in detention, it is only a fraction of what truly happened,” says Abu Selmia.
“I am talking about being clubbed, being beaten with rifle butts and being attacked by dogs. There was little to no food, no personal hygiene, no soap inside the cells, no water, no toilet, no toilet paper … I saw people who were dying there.
“Every day is a humiliation, every day is degradation. There you are just a number, you are not a hospital director or a human being. I was beaten so badly I couldn’t use my legs or walk. No day passes without torture.”

https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2025/feb/25/israel-gaza-doctors-surgeons-healthcare-detention-international-law

Wow, it’s a miracle they escaped alive.

I thought Israel were deliberately killing healthcare workers btw?

His teeth look no different in his before and after pictures. Did Israel fix his teeth after breaking them?

He returned to work shortly after his release so Israel obviously didn’t ‘work hard to make him lose the use of his hands’.

I think most people with critical thinking skills can see through Hamas propaganda now.

Gazan doctors have been implicated in terrorist activities.

One of the hostages Noa Marciano, was reportedly killed by a doctor, another hostage, Guy Illouz was reportedly deliberately left to die after being chained to a bed in a hospital for a week, another hostage was held in a doctor’s home, other hostages are on CCTV being taken into a hospital, the bodies of dead hostages have been found within hospital grounds and as there is clear evidence hospitals have been used as terrorist bases, doctors would have been at the very least aware of this.

Just because someone is a doctor does not mean they can’t possibly be involved in terrorism in a terrorist enclave. Especially considering the support of Hamas by several Western doctors not even in Gaza.

Let’s not forget about Doctor Colonel Abu Hassan Safiya.

Dr/Colonel Hussam Abu Safiya of Hamas ladies and gents 👇🏽 And guess what, it was Palestinian news outlets that confirmed he was a Colonel in Hamas - including Quds and Pal Times. See link in thread for confirmation. “In five Arabic news articles,...

I think people challenging terrorist propaganda are the very opposite of ‘bots’ but I guess we all think
differently.

I haven’t seen anyone on here accused of being a bot except those who do, which is pretty rich when you consider those who parrot it are generally the accusers.

Everexpanding · 15/10/2025 18:06

@TicklishMauveSquid if you are using X as your source of information your abhorrent attitudes make sense, maybe try reading some actual reports from reputable sources

Gloriia · 15/10/2025 18:09

'I think most people with critical thinking skills can see through Hamas propaganda now'

You'd think so wouldn't you. You'd think by now the penny would have dropped but apparently not. Despite footage of terrorists killing gazans with an excited crowds whooping them on, despite foothage of designer clad gazans looking very healthy nope. Some are stuck regurgitating the famine and genocide hamas generated tall tales.

Also what about the health workers who aren't Palestinian. Just bleeding heart (professional) volunteers who have gone to Gaza in the name of aid and witnessed the horrors delivered at the hands of Israel?
Are they pedaling Hamas propaganda?

Yep I’m still wondering where Gloriias evidence is ????

Gloriia · 15/10/2025 18:28

'maybe try reading some actual reports from reputable sources'

Oh yes like Tom Fletcher of the UN? '14000 babies will die in 24hrs/no they won't I made that up'. Or maybe the bbc who can't even call hamas terrorists. Or the IPC whose 'report' on famine has been widely discredited. Or that Aguilera bloke who said the IDF shot a young dc in front of him, then the said young boy turned up on a chat show a few weeks ago

The reputable sources are very thin on the ground. One thing we do know is hundreds were slaughtered on Oct 7th and hundreds were abducted, innocent people not these gazan Doctors who also dabble in hamas activities or those who blow buses up in Israel.

Hi
Have you got that proof yet
As you said there was louds

If it doesn’t exist then obviously there’s no need to post

Gloriia · 15/10/2025 18:30

That just takes me to a Google search page for 'British doctor speaks from gaza'. Not keffiyeh wearing Dr Maynard pleeeease.

It takes me to this on Sky news
( note it’s not your usual X )

and you can't dictate what people wear. That’s not your right

Why are Palestinians tortured in Israeli prisons?
Gloriia · 15/10/2025 18:37

'and you can't dictate what people wear. That’s not your right'

If a Doctor claims to be impartial but wears a keffiyeh it indicates which side he supports. It isn't as if I'm saying he isn't allowed to wear trainers or something.

Probably because she was there and feels there's a right side to take.

Under the Geneva conventions, the set of international laws that police the conduct of warring parties, doctors should be protected, not targeted or attacked during conflict and must be allowed to carry on providing medical care to those who need it.
Tedros said: “Health workers, facilities they work in, and patients they care for … must never be targets. In fact, under international humanitarian law, they should be actively protected.”

Two of Gaza’s most senior doctors – Dr Iyad al-Rantisi, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Kamal Adwan hospital, and Dr Adnan al-Bursh, head of the orthopaedic department at al-Shifa hospital – are known to have died in detention.
