Conflict in the Middle East

Thoughts to the Jewish community in the UK

There is a massive rise in anti semitism in the UK and other countries. Jewish people here have nothing to do with the conflict in Gaza, nothing at all.

The rise in anti semitism is disgusting.

Sending thoughts to the victims, their family and friends. No one should feel terrorised in the UK. People should feel safe here.

My heart goes out to those directly affected and to the wider Jewish community in the UK after this horrendous attack.

halfpastten · 04/10/2025 23:19

My heart also goes out to Jewish people after this horrific attack on the holiest day. I am beyond disgusted by the pro pally protests on the day of the attack. Some clearly celebrating. Left wing 'friends' on FB sharing photos of one such protest on Thursday, congratulating each other, not a word or thought about the events in Manchester. Discussed with another leftie 'friend' who sent me details of attacks on mosques (brick throwing etc). Those people have crossed a moral line. I'm sickened by them and the antisemitism of the left. This has blown it wide open.

Interesting how you just completely ignore the fact that a police officer is possibly going to find themselves on trial in the not too distant future, and certainly going to have to account for what went so tragically wrong.

@GinaDavI’m not sure why you’re not able to see why the decisions were taken, the other pp are correct.

Well if it’s as clear cut as the horrendous videos I have seen on social media the police marksman will get time off to recover, love and understanding by the community and hopefully never be put in that situation again.
My vitriol will be aimed at the man who ploughed over a man, attempted to murder others with a knife and fashioned a fake ‘bomb’ vest and them refused to stay on the floor. All those that supported him and stoved the flames of his extremism.

I’m always grateful in the wake of dreadful attacks and murders that there are people prepared to step up and risk their lives every working day to protect strangers.
It must be traumatic carrying out a sanctioned “neutralising” but that is their job. To have to deal with the accidental shooting of any innocent bystander must be life-changingly terrible.
That I’ve seen more than one person commenting in recent days, seemingly insinuating that this tragic accident was anything else, is sickening.

TheaBrandt1 · 05/10/2025 13:46

Yes poor man 100% terrorist scum fault.

I’ve messaged Jewish friends to say how horrified we are and they have all got back very quickly to say they appreciate the message.

Me too. The right to protest is integral to our democracy but the pro- Palestinian marches have brought terror to Jewish communities with their hate filled rhetoric “Globalise the Intifada” “River to the Sea” etc
Right from the beginning the marchers refused any mention of hostages or any condemnation of Hamas. And now we have “useful idiots” protesting on behalf of Palestine Action - a terrorist group.

Agreed, my heart goes out to the policeman as well as the community.

Israel's Netanyahu and his cabinet have done a brilliant job of creating fear, horror and bad feeling against Jews across the diaspora by their actions against the Palestinian people.

If there are people in the world who wish Jews harm (and I don't condone that) then blame Israel's government.

Everyone should be able to live in peace and safety. Jewish and Palestinian. Wherever they reside.

Oh for goodness sake. I am no fan of Netanyahu (that’s putting it mildly) but hatred for Jews (“wishing them harm” as you coyly put it) long precedes his government. To suggest otherwise is utterly utterly fatuous. I squarely blame the people who are so filled with hatred or so idiotic that they are unable to distinguish between a government and a race of people who live all over the world.

BrinkWomanship · 06/10/2025 15:59

Agreed @User1928. We don't blame the victim wearing clothes (note, I don't specify anything about those clothes), we blame the man who raped her.

Neturei Karta are a tiny extremist sect that do not in any way represent mainstream Jewish opinion. Look them up to see the theological basis of tbeir position.

You should look this fringe group up before using them as an example. They are the Jewish equivalent to the hard core Mormons or the Return to the Land bigots. Note the lack of women!

They actually believe Israel should not exist - they’ve always believed this and actively campaigned against it.

For example, this from Wikipedia:

The views of Neturei Karta's members are considered fringe, even within Haredi Jewish circles. On numerous occasions, a number of anti-Zionist Orthodox Jewish movements have denounced Neturei Karta for its pursuit of relationships with the Iranian government, neo-Nazis, and Holocaust deniers, particularly after Neturei Karta members attended the 2006 International Conference to Review the Global Vision of the Holocaust, which was condemned by the United Nations and much of the international community

SharonEllis · 07/10/2025 12:44

People do love to post Neturei Karta. Its the very opposite of a gotcha.

Would these be termed as ‘self hating’ Jews?

What would they do if they were attacked for being Jewish by Jew haters who don’t know or care about their views, in the current climate, which is only going to get worse when Palestine is not free ‘from the River to the Sea’.

Would they feel practically safer outside of Israel?

I’m not sure I understand but this particular clip is in (I think) New York. They’re all insane if that helps - they also hate women and gay people and anyone who isn’t in their cult.

Every religion has its embarrassments!

I dont know as I've never met a member and discussed it. As far as I know they live in Israel and the diaspora.

TheaBrandt1 · 07/10/2025 15:15

Felt like crying reading that. Ultimate family man who gave his life for his family. Such a kind face he had.

I can never move on from reading what those monsters gleefully did on 7th October. Something broke in me in that day. And I’m not even Jewish. That beautiful girl on the truck. They were demons.

LeveretGrey · 07/10/2025 15:19

And the 39 Thai nationals.

The Thai farm worker who was beheaded with a spade. And Owen fucking Jones opined on youtube that perhaps he was 'already dying' as if that somehow negated his actual death and who caused it.

Shani Laouk and her broken body being spat on by pre-teens in Gaza.

The woman being raped and shot in the head while the Hamas rapist was still raping her.

But some stupid little girl cuts down yellow ribbons. And fucking mentally deficient people protest each week calling from the River to the Sea.

Makes me sick.

PreciousTatas · 07/10/2025 18:48

A woman just said live on stream that she emphatically supports Hamas.
