the “No Thanks” app, which first appeared almost two years ago carrying a large list of companies and brands consumers might consider boycotting because of Israeli links.
The app has become a key tool for the BDS movement that targets Israel economically for the actions of its government and its military in Gaza.
Along with a list of companies and brands to boycott, the app allows users to scan barcodes to find out more about the relationship particular products have with Israel.

This app was created by a Palestinian whose sister died after being denied authorization by the Israeli authorities to get medical care in Jerusalem. Then his brother was killed by an Israeli airstrike. I think it's great that a Palestinian is trying to bring about change through peaceful means. I thought this is what everybody wanted?

As others have said where does all your tech come from op, your clothes, everything you buy in fact. How difficult your life will be if you only purchase from countries that never have had conflicts.

I do actually avoid Chinese goods where I can I shop quite carefully so an app would be handy. I just don't understand why Israel is so assiduously targetted but not other places. Or rather I do understand. I dont understand why people dont think its a problem.

Just listened to the creator of this app being interviewed. He was complaining that the Israelis were trying to turn people against 'the resistance' so if you want Israel not to exist this is the app for you. He wants to 'send them all home.'

He's in Hungary, managed to escape the open air prison so maybe he has connections, his brother was in Turkey and went back to Gaza at the end of 2023...

Exactly, The idea of saying that the app developer want's Israel to disappear is a misrepresentation and an exaggeration of what the app developer said.

Ahmed simply said that the Israeli regime are deliberately starving people in Gaza in order to get them to turn against Hamas. It's been stated as such by Israeli officials and is collective punishment in order to try to achieve what the IDF have failed to achieve through military means.

Exactly. A guy created an app to help people boycott Israeli goods, a peaceful means of protest, after 2 of his close family members were killed by the Israeli regime. Israel according to the UN and every major NGO are committing genocide. He isn't the bad guy here, he isn't the one making anyone disappear.

He is. We've seen this before haven't we in the 1940s where people boycotted Jewish businesses all no doubt thinking they weren't bad guys either.

This app bloke needs to use his time more constructively and stop demonising Israelis running businesses.

It’s starting to feel a lot how my elderly relatives used to talk about Germany in the 1930s. Are you calling people here Nazi's? Because they are opposed to genocide and "actual atrocities"? An awful lot of Jewish people are opposed to the actions of the Israeli government. How are they sounding like "Germany in the 1930's"?

Except 'this app bloke' created an app to help consumers avoid buying products from a country that all major NGOs and the UN agree is committing genocide as we speak so it's nothing like people boycotting Jewish businesses in the 1940s no matter how many of you say it is.

Israeli businesses pay taxes to their government and that helps to pay for their governments genocidal rampage in Gaza.

It is exactly like boycotting Jews in the 30s/40s no matter how many of you think it isn't.

The app targets Israeli businesses not jewish individuals as @GladioliGreen rightly pointed out these businesses pay taxes to the Israeli government which are then used to fund its current genocidal campaign. I do not want my money used to carry out a genocide, if Israel changes course I will not boycott

businesses can pressure their government to change that is what boycotts aim to achieve change.
