App to boycott Israeli goods

1000 replies

Everexpanding · 14/09/2025 10:49

the “No Thanks” app, which first appeared almost two years ago carrying a large list of companies and brands consumers might consider boycotting because of Israeli links.
The app has become a key tool for the BDS movement that targets Israel economically for the actions of its government and its military in Gaza.
Along with a list of companies and brands to boycott, the app allows users to scan barcodes to find out more about the relationship particular products have with Israel.

That's nice.
I'm supporting a change of 'governance' in Gaza as per the UN plan that would lead to the billions in aid, and all your aforementioned international efforts, producing a peaceful solution for the population rather than being squirelled away to war or offshore. Can't fit that all on a catchy placard though.
As ever, you do you

Fantastic. How do you support that practically? Or is it just thoughts?

I'm sure many of us are in favour of that as a long term solution but it is short term aid that people need right now.

I can't believe hamas knew exactly what would happen and did it anyway. No bomb shelters, no protection just hide among the population and wonder why the civilians sadly are also killed.

A very good reason NOT to bomb civilian areas then.
There were many other actions the Israeli government could have chosen to take. They chose to bomb civilians.

The horrific actions of a small faction does not condone the horrific actions of a huge government with a giant military capability.

That would be like the UK government blanket bombing Northern Ireland after the Warrington bombings. No one called for it. No one wanted it. It didn't happen. Instead, the peace process was stepped up a notch.

I can't see the ones relating to Saudi? As you boycott Saudi yiurself please could you send your list of companies to boycott?

IWasScaredToBeHeld · 27/09/2025 12:48

Excellent. Can you send me information in boycotting Saudi?

Do your own research.

Very pleased that the flotilla is gaining such great support and making progress.

Such a huge amount of people doing something practical to help people in need.

Such a shame the world isn't full of more people like this willing to help - rather than haters who seem eager to mock their efforts.

Go Flotilla! Go Europe!

Waving the flag here too 🇵🇸 ❤️

Their huge efforts and sacrifices are very humbling

This was covered quite early on in the thread. Here's a reminder:

Petrol from BP or Shell, Marriot hotels, Disney and Starbucks are are all heavily invested by the Saudi Arabian government.

Shame, I never spend a penny with any of them.

Absolutely, 38 killed overnight in airstrikes in Gaza.

Putting themselves in huge danger with a military that has no problem killing civilians.

DrPrunesqualer · 27/09/2025 13:05

IWasScaredToBeHeld · 27/09/2025 10:34

I wonder if they have finally realised the world is against them now.

Imagine how disastrous it would be if they attacked again, but this time with major navies supporting the flotilla

Netanyahu, the IDF and all pro Israelis
would make pathetic attempts at denying it and be found 100% guilty down the line

The flotilla now have a boat full of their legal team aswell as Naval support vessels. Hopefully they won’t be attacked in International, or any waters, again.

I can’t see it ending well though. Israel have no respect for humanity

UltraCynica · 27/09/2025 13:06

Gloriia · 27/09/2025 12:12

Look at all the deaths in yemen

How many of you boycotted Saudi businesses and accused the Saudi forces of 'doing a genocide'. Were there any keffiyeh clad greta flotillas Yemen bound? I can't recall any.

Look! Squirrel!!

Not an equivalent analogy really. Unless ..thousands of terrorists had rampaged through Warrington, murdering, mutilating, raping, setting fire to buildings with people inside, and were only stopped from spreading outwards by the army being called in, after which it transpired that a couple of hundred people alive and dead, and in at least one case parts of them, had been taken back to wherever the perpetrators were. Then the perpetrators decided to use their neighbours as human shields and some bods in a 5* hotel miles away from the carnage denied it all happened, then said how marvellous it all was and they should do it again.....and again.

Otherwise it's a cracking comparison.

It's still does not warrant the blanket bombing of children for a two year period.

Nothing does.

Nothing justifies genocide.

Nothing.

This is absolutely brilliant news. Edinburgh is a very progressive city.

Here's an article detailing how it came about and why.

I can see that the advent of ai has impaired people's ability to paraphrase.
I support the latest UN plan, the latest in many peace plans for the region. It requires the removal of hamas. When there's a march for that I'll join, but of course like you, I will boycott their supporters in the interim and loudly cheer on their detractors.

I know of not one supporter of Hamas, neither person nor business, so I think you'll find a boycott impossible.

itsnotveryfriendlyhereisit · 27/09/2025 13:49

@quantumbutterflyNever used ai in my life, sorry. I agree in the removal of Hamas too. I also don’t want any money diverted to those in Qatar who are doing nothing to help the people of Palestine. I would like to see Palestine rebuilt, with the Palestinians able to get on with their lives in peace, to have control of the sea in front of them, their own airport, and control of their own boarders, and to be free to come and go without the relentless checks imposed on them by Israel. I would also like the illegal settlers to be removed. At the end of the day this is what anybody in their right mind would want.

However, I also want the war to end. I don’t want Benjamin Netanyahu to eradicate the Palestinian state with his bombs, starvation and the killing of innocent people who are no more able to rise up against Hamas as either you and I are.

This is an outrageous comparison and precisely why people need to be reminded of what happened on 7 October.

The peace process was stepped up a notch partly because people in NI & the republic were horrified by it. There were demos in the Republic & the government made it easier to extradite terrorist suspects.

The response across Palestine and its allies to 7 October was, instead, to celebrate the horror & cheer Hamas on when they said they would do it again, proclaiming it was legitimate "resistance'.
