App to boycott Israeli goods

Everexpanding · 14/09/2025 10:49

the “No Thanks” app, which first appeared almost two years ago carrying a large list of companies and brands consumers might consider boycotting because of Israeli links.
The app has become a key tool for the BDS movement that targets Israel economically for the actions of its government and its military in Gaza.
Along with a list of companies and brands to boycott, the app allows users to scan barcodes to find out more about the relationship particular products have with Israel.

As reported in the BBC:

The Israeli prime minister repeated that Israel would not allow a Palestinian state to exist and said this position was supported by the vast majority of Israelis.

The Knesset voted to annex the West Bank. Netanyahu having a hissy fit said there will be no Palestinian state.

Yup, I never will understand trying to discredit something that was so widely reported 2 weeks ago (not to mention all of Netanyahu's statement on a Palestinian state since the 1990s). It's insulting.

September 11th 2025:

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/9/11/israels-netanyahu-says-there-will-be-no-palestinian-state

“We are going to fulfil our promise that there will be no Palestinian state. This place belongs to us,” Netanyahu said at the event in Maale Adumim, an Israeli settlement just east of Jerusalem.
“We are going to double the city’s population.”

But he didn't say there would never be one - he probably won't even be in power after 2026 so he wouldn't be able to say there would never be one.

He obviously meant, not at the present time. Not while Hamas rule the Palestinian people, not while so many of them seem radicalised.

If aimed at me, then sorry I had to correct misinformation from the poster who claimed that Netanyauh "said there would never be a Palestinian state".

That is factually incorrect.

I read it on the BBC website. I took the quote off the BBC website. Or do you not hold trust with the BBC either anymore either? It’s hard to keep up. Take it up with them.

It's just a difference of opinion not "insulting".

"insulting" is referring to people as "sycophants".

Nope, you've added those qualifiers in order to somehow tie the refusal as being related to October 7th.

Netanyahu has always remained consistent for nearly 30 years. He famously whipped up a crowd against Rabin, shortlt before he was assassinated.

I don't think you are understanding the nuance in the language that was used so no point arguing about it.

Yes I do trust the BBC but the BBC quote did not use the word Never, that was your interpretation.

itsnotveryfriendlyhereisit · 26/09/2025 20:08

Would not allow a Palestinian state to exist. Really Twiglets, you are splitting hairs. Desperately. For oneupmanship? Who knows.

I could equally say he didn’t say there would be one in the future

Did he say ‘there will not be a Palestinian state at the moment’

No!

He said there will be NO Palestinian State.

Given the sensitive nature of the subject if he means to ‘allow’ ( what the hell it has to do with this warmonger and wanted criminal anyway is beyond me but let’s stick with the idea for now )again … ‘allow’ a Palestinian State he would have phrased his words more carefully

He didn’t because he has no desire or plan now or in the future for a Palestinian State. His little drawing s have shown that very clearly for a long time

We can agree that he has no desire or plan for a Palestinian state while he is PM.

He didn't say there would never be one though, he couldn't say that as won't always be in power.

No, I mainly support the people of Israel and hope Netanyahu gets voted out at the election in 2026 and a more moderate government elected.

Under a more moderate government there possibly could be a 2 state solution as long as the Gaza peace plan works well with Hamas being removed etc.

If he repopulates Gaza with Israelis as he is saying, if he annexes the West Bank , do you genuinely think that there could be a Palestinian state in the future?

No point discussing this with you

You are I think trying to save face.
If you don’t like what Netanyahu is saying and what his actions and plans are it’s fine to admit it.

Or perhaps you are among the tiny minority who do.

It makes no difference

My personal opinion is that Trump won't allow him to annex the West Bank and that he will be told that in no uncertain terms at their meeting on Monday.

It will be impossible for Netanyahu to placate both the extreme right wingers in his party and Trump. My money is on Trump being the most important ally to him.

He said that over 90% of Israelis are opposed to a Palestinian state, as an argument for not reaching a peace settlement.

Doesn't sound like it's just him and that a Palestinian state will never be sanctioned by whoever is in power with stats like that.

So perhaps we could all agree that even though Netanyahu is attempting to ensure that there is never a Palestinian state, that intervention from the US could keep the possibility open.

Microsoft has terminated the Israeli military’s access to technology it used to operate a powerful surveillance system that collected millions of Palestinian civilian phone calls made each day in Gaza and the West Bank, the Guardian can reveal.
Microsoft told Israeli officials late last week that Unit 8200, the military’s elite spy agency, had violated the company’s terms of service by storing the vast trove of surveillance data in its Azure cloud platform, sources familiar with the situation said.
The decision to cut off Unit 8200’s ability to use some of its technology results directly from an investigation published by the Guardian last month. It revealed how Azure was being used to store and process the trove of Palestinian communications in a mass surveillance programme.
In a joint investigation with the Israeli-Palestinian publication +972 Magazine and the Hebrew-language outlet Local Call, the Guardian revealed how Microsoft and Unit 8200 had worked together on a plan to move large volumes of sensitive intelligence material into Azure.
