App to boycott Israeli goods

the “No Thanks” app, which first appeared almost two years ago carrying a large list of companies and brands consumers might consider boycotting because of Israeli links.
The app has become a key tool for the BDS movement that targets Israel economically for the actions of its government and its military in Gaza.
Along with a list of companies and brands to boycott, the app allows users to scan barcodes to find out more about the relationship particular products have with Israel.

Well there will have to be trust at some point that Israel will pass on the aid because there is no way they are going to allow the people on the flotilla to hand deliver it, is there?

It's a publicity stunt and nothing else. I'm ok with people saying that the cause of it is to raise publicity for the cause, that makes sense. But find it foolish if people really think the aim is to deliver aid which as you say, only exists in tiny quantities

It's publicity to counteract the money Israel is spending on their publicity like the dozens of trucks with qr codes that drove around New York in the last day or two. Or the billboards in Times Square.

Twiglets hasn't defended Israel they are often very clear in their criticism of BN.
They are however very clear in their condemnation of hamas which some of you could learn from.
They are one of the most polite and reasonable posters on here.
There's no need for these unpleasant sneers .

No it would be factual to say that I spend a lot of time on this board.

But it's not factual to say I "spend my time defending genocide".

For one thing, the UN court hasn't made a ruling yet about whether it is or isn't genocide and probably won't until after the war ends. Neither has the UK government classified the war as a genocide at this current time, so even the word "genocide" is debatable.

But also - most of my posts are not about the issue of genocide but about other things. For example, I posted this morning about the 21 point peace plan that will be put to Netanyahu by Trump on Monday and could lead to a ceasefire.

I will repost in full in a moment in case anyone interested.

Oh yes.

It really was a horrific massacre.

I still can't quite believe that Netanyahu retaliated by blanket bombing children for going on two years now. This kind of war never really ends.

Twiglets1 · 27/09/2025 11:30

What are the 21 points?

The following are the contents of the plan that have been paraphrased at the request of the sources who provided it.

  1. Gaza will be a de-radicalized, terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors.
  2. Gaza will be redeveloped for the benefit of its people.
  3. If both sides agree to the proposal, the war will immediately end, with Israeli forces halting all operations and gradually withdrawing from the Strip.
  4. Within 48 hours of Israel publicly accepting the deal, all living and deceased hostages will be returned.
  5. Once the hostages are returned, Israel will free several hundred Palestinian security prisoners serving life sentences and over 1,000 Gazans arrested since the start of the war, along with the bodies of several hundred Palestinians.
  6. Once the hostages are returned, Hamas members who commit to peaceful coexistence will be granted amnesty, while members who wish to leave the Strip will be granted safe passage to receiving countries.
  7. Once this agreement is reached, aid will surge into the Strip at rates no lower than the benchmarks set in the January 2025 hostage deal, which included 600 trucks of aid per day, along with the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure and the entry of equipment for removing rubble.
  8. Aid will be distributed — without interference from either side — by the United Nations and the Red Crescent, along with other international organizations not associated with either Israel or Hamas.
  9. Gaza will be governed by a temporary, transitional government of Palestinian technocrats who will be responsible for providing day-to-day services for the people of the Strip. The committee will be supervised by a new international body established by the US in consultation with Arab and European partners. It will establish a framework for funding the redevelopment of Gaza until the Palestinian Authority has completed its reform program.
  1. An economic plan will be created to rebuild Gaza through the convening of experts with experience in constructing modern Middle East cities and through the consideration of existing plans aimed at attracting investments and creating jobs.
  2. An economic zone will be established, with reduced tariffs and access rates to be negotiated by participating countries.
  3. No one will be forced to leave Gaza, but those who choose to leave will be allowed to return. Moreover, Gazans will be encouraged to remain in the Strip and offered an opportunity to build a better future there.
  4. Hamas will have no role in Gaza’s governance whatsoever. There will be a commitment to destroy and stop building any offensive military infrastructure, including tunnels. Gaza’s new leaders will commit to peaceful coexistence with their neighbors.
  5. A security guarantee will be provided by regional partners to ensure that Hamas and other Gaza factions comply with their obligations and that Gaza ceases to pose a threat to Israel or its own people.
  6. The US will work with Arab and other international partners to develop a temporary international stabilization force that will immediately deploy in Gaza to oversee security in the Strip. The force will develop and train a Palestinian police force, which will serve as a long-term internal security body.
  7. Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza, and the IDF will gradually hand over territory it currently occupies, as the replacement security forces establish control and stability in the Strip.
  8. If Hamas delays or rejects this proposal, the above points will proceed in terror-free areas, which the IDF will gradually hand over to the international stabilization force.
  9. Israel agrees not to carry out future strikes in Qatar. The US and the international community acknowledge Doha’s important mediating role in the Gaza conflict.
  10. A process will be established to de-radicalize the population. This will include an interfaith dialogue aimed at changing mindsets and narratives in Israel and Gaza.
  11. When Gaza’s redevelopment has been advanced and the PA reform program has been implemented, the conditions may be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian statehood, which is recognized as the aspiration of the Palestinian people.
  12. The US will establish a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a political horizon for peaceful coexistence.

I wonder if we will see similar publicity about remembering every day since Oct 7th in memory if the tens of thousands dead Palestinians.

It seems rather unnecessary considering the money Hamas have clearly been pouring into propaganda/publicity for their cause - it's not like people are unaware is it?

quantumbutterfly · 27/09/2025 11:34

UltraCynica · 27/09/2025 11:13

I haven't been 'told to care about' anyone in particular. I can see children's arms and legs been blown off daily by government bombs with my own eyes, I can see the starving babes in arms.

I am directing my small efforts towards ensuring I am not funding such atrocities.

Many people are protesting to get the hostages released and pressuring Netanyahu to stop bombing the very places these hostages are being hidden.
Other people are doing the paperwork and diplomacy work to get young Palestinian children to hospitals to be treated for their injuries. Yet others are volunteering their medical expertise and travelling to Gaza to work in death dicing hospital conditions.

Everyone does their piece.
Not one of us can do every piece at the same time.

You do your bit. I'll do mine.

That's nice.
I'm supporting a change of 'governance' in Gaza as per the UN plan that would lead to the billions in aid, and all your aforementioned international efforts, producing a peaceful solution for the population rather than being squirelled away to war or offshore. Can't fit that all on a catchy placard though.
As ever, you do you

I can't believe hamas knew exactly what would happen and did it anyway. No bomb shelters, no protection just hide among the population and wonder why the civilians sadly are also killed.

It's not like people are unaware of the atrocities of October 7th and yet Israel are spending huge sums of money to publiscise and event that happened nearly two years ago.

What is happening in Gaza is ongoing and needs to stop to prevent more deaths.

Well yes, all those awful Hamas fighters hiding under babies cots in the intensive care departments in all the Gaza hospitals knew exactly what they were doing. But hey, it’s all Hamas fault after all.

I think we are all supporting a change of government on both sides to avoid the repetition of history.

What is more immediate is stopping Israel from it brutal assault. MSF have pulled out of Gaza City today as it is so unsafe for them to work there leaving many more (including the newborns they were attending to)without any access to medical care

Knowing what extremists like hamas have done throughout the middle east I can believe it, what I find harder to appreciate is, knowing that, they still get support in the west.

Israel were rather slower to use propaganda than Hamas but they got the message eventually that Hamas were winning the propaganda war.

As always, we agree that what is happening in Gaza needs to stop. I'm cautiously optimistic about the latest peace plan because it has been given the green light by both Trump and the Arab leaders.

And because re point 17 If Hamas delays or rejects this proposal, the above points will proceed in terror-free areas, which the IDF will gradually hand over to the international stabilization force - the Times of Israel has pointed out that this is the first mention of the possibility that the deal could be at least partially implemented, even if Hamas doesn’t agree.

Hopefully Hamas will agree and this will lead to a more orderly transfer of power. The last thing Palestine needs after is a civil war between pro and anti agreement forces.

They are not 'mainly civilians', many hamas terrorists have been killed. Don't believe the Guardian's rubbish reporting, just because they weren't known to the IDF prior to being killed does not mean they were not combatants fighting with weapons.

Per Israel’s own figures

Israeli army database suggests at least 83% of Gaza dead were civilians

Look at all the deaths in yemen

How many of you boycotted Saudi businesses and accused the Saudi forces of 'doing a genocide'. Were there any keffiyeh clad greta flotillas Yemen bound? I can't recall any.
