App to boycott Israeli goods

Everexpanding · 14/09/2025 10:49

the “No Thanks” app, which first appeared almost two years ago carrying a large list of companies and brands consumers might consider boycotting because of Israeli links.
The app has become a key tool for the BDS movement that targets Israel economically for the actions of its government and its military in Gaza.
Along with a list of companies and brands to boycott, the app allows users to scan barcodes to find out more about the relationship particular products have with Israel.

Agree

Israel is a rogue state. It has been for many years but world leaders are unable to turn a blind eye now. The world is watching war crimes being committed daily, they are all being televised. There's no denying what is evidenced on film.

Not in my name.

What's sickening is Netanyahu planning to illegally occupy more land in the west bank as a result of this. So innocent Palestinians paying the price of the recognition by other nation states.

The Israeli prime minister hinted at part of what would come. He said Israel has doubled Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, which are considered illegal under international law, “and we will continue on this path.”

Netanyahu would always have done that anyway, he's a bloody land grabber, as bad as Putin - seperated at birth those two I reckon!

From Italy today. A general strike in support of Gaza ❤️🇮🇹🇮🇹❤️

A friend said today that the general mood seems to be changing and I am starting to agree. The gulf between complicit governments and their populations is growing rapidly!

You do know that Israel is a global leader in cybersecurity, in AI, surveillance, security?

@Gloriia and yet with all this technology they can't target Hamas and are dropping bombs on tents of civilians instead.
I wonder why that would be.

We've been through this. Hamas hide among the civilians, blame them.

If there is a terrorist incident in this country resulting from Israel understandably not sharing intelligence, 'boycotting us' to use the op's favourite word then I hope the boycotters and Starmer will be proud of themselves.

It isn't up to the UK or other European countries to recognise anything in the ME. It is up to Arab states and Israel.

UltraCynica · 22/09/2025 21:40

France now formally recognises the state of Palestine.

Things appear to be gaining momentum.

So you have world class surveillance, the best weapons, highly trained army and they can't sniper/use drone to kill a member of Hamas in two years.

People will believe anything really won't they.

Instead, they used a drone to kill 12 year old Amna while she was carrying water back for her family.

They have killed lots of terrorists, they just don't always have their green costumes on but many terrorists have been killed.

And independent analyses suggest that women, children, and the elderly constitute approximately 54% to 59% of fatalities.

The UN has reported that 44% of the victims were children, with the youngest being a day-old boy and the oldest a 97-year-old woman.

Uniforms... The victims of their 500lb bombs are strewn in pieces around the area . They don't know whose dead or alive....Hardly an effective use of their military might when they are supposedly only targeting a terrorist organization.
Now wouldn't using all that intelligence to actually be better use to target Hamas instead of Amna.

Unless of course she was the target.

This one too written from an Israeli perspective

UN commission’s genocide finding has changed little here in Israel

https://www.irishtimes.com/opinion/2025/09/21/paul-kearns-a-genocide-is-being-committed-70km-from-our-home-and-nobody-wants-to-talk-about-it/

Good article from an Israeli in Israel
Interesting that he acknowledges general denial and refusal to talk about the genocide
or anything !

TV off and don't talk, as if they’re all just shutting it all out

Sometimes a snowball turns into an avalanche.....

I remember that after a long slow seemingly "unsuccessful" campaign against Apartheid in South Africa, after the increase in pressure in the 1980s fuelled by boycotting and public awareness it fell so quickly. Just like the Berlin Wall and the fall of the Soviet Union.

Sometimes the catalysts for change may not be apparent and may look tiny.

This is an Italian presenter on a cooking show* *in Italy today:

The host, usually apolitical, of a very popular cooking show on Italian public television, on the conservative and pro-government channel Rai 1, expressing solidarity with today's general strike for Palestine:

“I must tell the truth, it is impossible to remain indifferent to what is happening in Gaza… as Cardinal Pizzaballa rightly said, if you close your eyes to what is happening you lose your humanity, because objectively it is a massacre, and remaining inert in the face of this reality ultimately means losing your humanity.”

'Uniforms...' sorry, what? You seem to be suggesting terrorists are some kind of official military force and are not actually terrorists responsible for the deaths of civilians in gaza by hiding among them.

If they wore their fetching green costumes all the time and not just when parading hostages then it'd be easier to target them.

Like these IDF soldiers dressing as medics and one even using a wheelchair to assassinate three people ( one a patient) and two of his visitors in hospital.

No idea what other countries say but our Terrorism Act 2000 makes it an offence for a terrorist group to wear a uniform. So they’re either a terrorists group without a uniform or an accepted Army of the state with one

Israel’s IDF are Israel’s army.

They should be wearing a uniform .
They are not permitted to wear a disguise It is a War Crime !

Interesting use of soft power after the Israeli bombing of Doha.

Different moves are being made in the region with Saudi Arabia also signing a defence (including nuclear) agreement with Pakistan.

Perhaps the Gulf States are finally beginning to realise that they're not immune to be targeted too.

SharonEllis · 23/09/2025 11:29

Amnesty International report on Qatar last year.

Partcularly interesting to note Qatar still not resolving issues round human rights abuses of migrant workers relating to when they hosted the World Cup. I expect they've been too busy looking after the Hamas leadership.
