Conflict in the Middle East

App to boycott Israeli goods

Everexpanding · 14/09/2025 10:49

the “No Thanks” app, which first appeared almost two years ago carrying a large list of companies and brands consumers might consider boycotting because of Israeli links.
The app has become a key tool for the BDS movement that targets Israel economically for the actions of its government and its military in Gaza.
Along with a list of companies and brands to boycott, the app allows users to scan barcodes to find out more about the relationship particular products have with Israel.

Oh but the UK supplies arms to Saudi too.

It is a conflict, sadly like many others in the ME.

It is all 'fucking shocking' yes. Blame the terrorists who started it and hide among their own people causing preventable deaths. Let's see celebs hosting a concert called 'get out of gaza hamas'. They won't though, we've just had someone quote from a hamas 'charter' fgs that's how some dim folk view them as an actual credible resistance.

The UK supplies arms to the whole world, as does America.
It's not news to most. We've been arming the world since the arms race began.

It's very sad to realise you have such limited compassion. It must be a very lonely place to be.

'It's very sad to realise you have such limited compassion. It must be a very lonely place to be.'

I've lots of compassion for both sides. I'm not into petty boycotting, fretting over where to buy my hummus. I'm not lonely either but you carry on sneering if it makes you feel good.

It's not petty, it's deadly serious.
You are the one sneering at other peoples efforts.

I've asked you before but you ignored my question:

What do you do to try and support fellow humans that are having their human rights violated?

More examples of boycotts being carried out against Israeli actions, definitely appears the tide has turned, maybe too late but good to see

Please can you tell me: exactly what do you mean by the word "Zionist"?

Well there we have it. Israel are apparently responsible for attacking loads of countries unprovoked! We obviously knew some thought it but to see it posted so blatantly is quite staggering.

Have you even heard of hezbollah, hamas, houthis and many other terrorist organisations festering and gathering support thanks to western media in the ME?

Israeli isn't 'bombing civilians' they are bombing terrorists and we should be thanking them not <checks notes> boycotting the co op.

Gloriia · 21/09/2025 12:26

'If you needed a new pager and you had a choice between an Israeli one and one that.was guaranteed to be zionist-free, which one would you choose?'

If I was a terrorist I'd probably try another method of communicating tbh.

You’ve never shown any compassion for Palestinian civilians on these threads, even the children.

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 21/09/2025 12:34

A line from the UN report regarding Israel's genocide in Gaza.

"Israeli security forces shot at & killed civilians, including children who were holding makeshift white flags. Some children, including toddlers, were shot in the head by snipers."

Everexpanding · 21/09/2025 12:55

If you don’t want to boycott / struggle with hummus selection as @Gloriia Medical Aid for Palestinians is a good uk based organisation trying to provide medical aid to Palestinians, they can be found online and on social media perhaps you could support them @Gloriia

I do think it is important to boycott to pressure Israel in any way we can to stop it’s war crimes though would rather see an end to the suffering of Palestinians

Article 7 quotes an escatological hadith, which is interpreted in a variety of ways.

Articles 22 and 32 talk of zionists, not Jews, (tho certainly the Greater Israel project seems to suggest that the ambitions refered to in article 32 is indeed the case with the annexation of the Golan Heights, the bombing of Lebanon and now threats made to Egypt).

Hamas updated their charter in 2017, making explicit that the problem was not people of the Jewish faith, but zionists

"Interpreted in a variety of ways" - please! That’s a remarkably feeble attempt at denying that it says what it says: murder all Jews! And it makes no difference that it’s an eschatological Hadith - Hamas still chose to include it in their founding charter.

"Zionists" is just the term many modern antisemites use instead of "Jews", because they know that using the latter makes their racism too obvious for all to see. "Zionist" has become the go-to insult for the useful idiots who applaud self-determination and a country of their own for other minorities, but somehow think that shouldn’t apply to Jews.

Whether or not one agrees with the policies of the current Israeli government (I don't) has nothing to do with whether one agrees that Jews have a right to their own homeland.

Everexpanding · 21/09/2025 13:32

@Larrypitt not to further your derailment from the point of this thread but confused by this

I am an atheist, do I get my own country? Do gay people get their own country? this is great news, I would like a country with a warm climate and sea views can I just invade somewhere?

'British trip-hop group Massive Attack announced Thursday they were joining an initiative to block their music in Israel and have also asked for their songs to be removed from Spotify'

Massive attack? Weren't they popular in the 90s? Whatever. I bet Isrealis couldn't give a rat's ass if some petulant celebs behave like this. However, it is rather hypocritical. Civilians are innocent, so why punish them?

Why do you not think Jews have a right to self determination?

SharonEllis · 21/09/2025 13:37

To add to my post Jewish people are an ethnic group. Being an atheist has nothing to do with it. Neither does sexuality. Your post is grossly offensive.

I believe I have said I've every sympathy for the suffering of the gazans we just differ on who we blame for it. I blame hamas.

Everexpanding · 21/09/2025 13:38

@SharonEllis I believe in separation of church and state so would be the wrong person to ask

Separation of church and state is not relevant. Can I just be clear then, you do not believe the Jewish people have the right to self determination is that correct?
