Sky News report that Israel is expected to approve Benjamin Netanyahu's plan for a takeover of Gaza when the security cabinet meets later today.

According to the Times of Israel, the full cabinet is due to convene at 6pm local time, 4pm in the UK.

Israeli media are reporting that the plan could potentially span over five months, and it is likely to be aimed at destroying Hamas and pressuring it to free remaining hostages.

While some ministers have been critical of the plan, reports suggest Netanyahu is likely to secure a majority of support.

Mr Netanyahu said it is “completely false” that Israel is starving Gazan civilians, and blamed Hamas.

“It’s completely false that we have a starvation policy, any more than we have a genocide policy, which is equally false.”

He allowed that there “was problem of deprivation, no question about it.”

But he denied intentional starvation: “If we had a starvation policy, no one would have survived two years of war.”

The Israeli PM blamed the aid crisis on Hamas, claiming that Hamas has been looting from trucks destined for civilians. “Hamas started this problem, and then it was directed at us.”

The only people being deliberately starved in Gaza are hostages, not Palestinian civilians, he said.

Waiting in the corner for the inevitable -

‘NOOOOO, he does nothing but lie and wants to GENOCIDE all Palestinians, he wants ALL the land, that is the absolute truth and anyone who doesn’t agree with me is a disgusting, shameful, baby killing monster sympathiser who dehumanises Palestinians……………..

I think a lot of people with be beyond livid in a few years when Netanyahu has achieved what he says, and hopefully Palestinians finally have a future to work to where they can live in peace.

Twiglets1 · 10/08/2025 16:50

I'm glad that Netanyahu is finally going to allow foreign journalists into Gaza, albeit only if accompanied by IDF soldiers. Form an orderly queue!

Though I'll be doing an eyeroll the first time one gets hurt and the outcry there will be about that and who will inevitably get blamed.

These types of posts are truly the lowest of the low. I really wish I hadn’t looked at that and the corresponding comments.

People making comments and sharing images of overweight Palestinians. Then someone sharing an image of an overweight person in a concentration camp during the Holocaust in response. It’s rotten to the core.

Being on X feels like you are just scrapping the very bottom of the human condition now.

Agreed. It's the equivalent of posting Oct 7 denialism (in a particularly mocking manner).

What a disgusting comparison.

There is no gang rape, beheading by garden hoe, burning families alive, slaughtering of young people at a music festival, torture, or kidnapping of babies and children going on in the video I posted ,

It’s a real video showing what’s going on in Gaza. If anyone wants to dispute the veracity of the video (which is pretty clear), then fair enough carry on, but to say that actually posting it is the lowest of the low because it doesn’t fit the narrative they want to believe in, is something else.

You couldn’t get much lower than comparing that video to Oct 7th IMO.

I think most of what you imagine Netanyahu will achieve is utterly delusion. He is the worst PM in the history of Israel and will always be remembered as the Israeli PM who turned Israel into a pariah state.

Agreed.

Please explain how a video of a group of healthy looking Gazans showing off their sugar haul, compares to denial of Oct 7th?

Is it because the Gazans filmed them both themselves?

I don't think anyone is genuinely stupid enough to think that I'm comparing the contents of the video to Oct 7.

The occupation just killed journalist Anas Al sharif. They love to kill journalists.

Kakeandkake · 10/08/2025 21:50

At this point there is not much difference between the Israeli government and the IDF with Hamas.

All terrorists.

I think he’s great.

A true leader and someone with the balls not to buckle under the pressure of weak Western governments, trying to appease their Muslim voters/looney liberals, and useful idiots who lap up terrorist propaganda because they hate Jews.

You will be very disappointed when I’m proven right I fear.

I asked Tuly how soldiers feel hearing Benjamin Netanyahu's narrative that there is no starvation in Gaza - that the images we see are a lie.
The Israeli military bears witness to what is happening in Gaza in a way most of the world, including international journalists, still can't.
"When you hear your government and your commanders telling things that are not true, you start thinking, are they lying to me also?" says Tuly.
"When you hear your prime minister lying about things that you saw in Gaza, things that you did ... people talk about torching houses, people talk about a 'deadline' - not a metaphor - a deadline when people cross they will be killed no matter if they are children or women ... they see people starving and they also see the chaos."

What would a "peaceful" government look like to you?

Would it be allowed to build ports and airports? Control its own borders with Egypt? Would it be part and parcel of Palestine? A Palestine where a trader from Nablus can go and enjoy a beach weekend in Gaza?

Or are you envisaging a situation where the Palestinian people must remain forever subjugated to Israel, with nominal self-governance at best (but only if and when Israel doesn't object)?

Will Palestinian schools be "allowed" to teach about the Nakba? Or would that be "not peaceful" because it might make children have complex feelings?

Would it be able to develop and trade its natural gas resources? Establish diplomatic relationships regardless of whether Israel likes them?

Do you mean sovereignty? Or do you mean Apartheid?
