Sky News report that Israel is expected to approve Benjamin Netanyahu's plan for a takeover of Gaza when the security cabinet meets later today.

According to the Times of Israel, the full cabinet is due to convene at 6pm local time, 4pm in the UK.

Israeli media are reporting that the plan could potentially span over five months, and it is likely to be aimed at destroying Hamas and pressuring it to free remaining hostages.

While some ministers have been critical of the plan, reports suggest Netanyahu is likely to secure a majority of support.

7/10 was a bit of a clue into current day thinking.

Keep analysing though, PinkBobby. Keep reading what Hamas leaders have publicly stated over the last decade or two about what they would like to do to Jews.

Your analysis isn't going to change anything unfortunately (neither is mine). We are where we are with the attitude each side has towards the other and it's not pretty.

To be clear, I’m not defending Hamas. Their intentions are clear. My analysis is why they gain popularity and again I don’t think this all boils down to Islam being an inherently violent religion. My big issue in this discussion is when Arab/Islam/Hamas/terrorism is used interchangeably. I think the same when people blur the line between the Israeli government, the Israeli people and Jewish people. They should not be lumped together. It’s racism.

PinkBobby · 14/08/2025 10:46

If you’re not going to read people’s responses to your messages, what is the point in debating or discussing any of these issues?

You seem to have closed yourself off to important context and that actually exacerbates the issue of extremism (as I’ve explained above but you didn’t bother to read it). With any group that commits terrorist acts or crimes like Hamas, you have to understand why they appear/appeal. And it isn’t just because Islam is an inherently violent religion. Millions of people follow it without committing atrocities or being antisemitic or joining terrorists groups.

You seem to blur the lines between Islam and Islamic extremism, terrorist and innocent Arab people. This all points towards Islamophobia so I’m happy to finish our interactions here.

No I don't blur the lines at all so why my post was deleted, I don't know. I made it clear that it's extreme/radical/fundamental Islam that is a problem. How many Jewish 'terrorists' attacks have taken place? In order to understand - or begin to bother understanding the complexities of this war- you can't conveniently overlook that one race wants to wipe out another. That goes for another posting saying you need to leave the past behind.

Once again, nobody is grouping all Muslims together. I can't work out whether you're being naive or deliberately obtuse. I can see, however, that you only want to focus on one ethnoreligion and yes, you do appear to be looking to minimise that ethnoreligion's destruction to another. We are always hearing about how hard done by Palestinians are - which is mostly at the hands of their own people and other Arab states. Israel is an inconvenient state that refuses to go away.

Dangermoo · 14/08/2025 11:07

Oh and @pinkbobby if you're talking about grouping people together and racism, care to explain why Jews are scared for their lives? Why they are being called Zionist cunts, amongst other slurs?

“conveniently overlook that one race wants to wipe out another”

There’s that blurred line - one group of extremists want to wipe out a race. Not ‘one race’ - just a group of extremists.

Talk about hair splitting. You know exactly what I mean. Moderate Muslims are different to extreme Muslims - I know that, so do you. The fact remains, the latter poses a major risk to Jewish people and, after that, whoever else is declared an infidel.

Beware of faux naivety.

Works for Louis Theroux so it is a good technique.

Listening to the GHF speaker this morning was interesting. We’re told different things, in his case it’s Hamas shooting at people waiting outside.

Journalists are now going in so maybe we can get better verification of what’s going on.

Yes, exactly. I'm done with that poster. So a post saying terrorist attacks are carried out by Islamic extremists gets deleted,, yet somebody asking me whether I would be ashamed to tell my grandchildren I supported genocide, gets to stay up!

How many Jewish 'terrorists' attacks have taken place

@Dangermoo there have been many Jewish terrorist organizations over the years such as the Revolt Terror Group, Bat Ayin, Sicarri, Terror against Terror, Kach and Jewish Underground.
Do I think they are representative of the religion or the people absolutely not.

The chicken

Edited because I was being facetious.
@Dangermoo I presume by your post you think terrorism is justified under certain circumstances?

I don't know where you get that from. Who do Jewish terrorists target?

Talk about hair splitting. You know exactly what I mean. Moderate Muslims are different to extreme Muslims - I know that, so do you. The fact remains, the latter poses a major risk to Jewish people and, after that, whoever else is declared an infidel.

Then write what you mean. Not something that sounds racist. It’s that simple. If your intention wasn’t to be Islamophobic, then be more careful how you write things so they don’t get misinterpreted. That is your responsibility not mine.

A lot of disgusting people are using this conflict to spread their Islamophobic and antisemitic views. Neither are acceptable and I would call out either. Jewish people are suffering because of this just as Muslim people suffer hate crimes after terrorist attacks.

False naivety is a good technique, you’re right - not sure how much I’ve really used it here. I’m simply asking you to justify what you’ve written and tried to explained my reasoning that you’ve decided not to read. It’s no wonder we can’t have a proper discussion!

Was this the Times Radio interview? Going to try and find it on catch up. Thanks for sharing.

Agree that more journalists can only be a positive.

Because of your chicken and egg sound bite it would be presumed that in a case of which came first the conflict or the terrorists you were implying both were a direct result of the other..

Jewish terrorist have targeted a wide number of targets including other orthodox Jews, targets in America (JDL), Palestinian targets and Left wing Jewish politicians.

Yes the earlier post will give the time. He was very clear on what was happening.

I do wonder how well the danger for journalists can be lessened but I’m guessing war journalists are very experienced with that.

The JDL attacked a theatre killing an employee.

I'm not sure what your point is and what gotcha you are trying to do. I was replying to the statement if fact you said that there were no Jewish Terrorist groups.
There is.

Islamist Radical groups commit awful atrocities. Are they representative of Muslims, absolutely not.

It is a follow on from @RandomWordsThrownTogether lovely post that all humans irrelevant of ethnicity, religion can do awful or amazing things.

I'm not the one interested in gotchas - I'm supporting a community, which gets a lot of shit.

But you can demonise another community that also gets a lot of shit the Muslim community?

Very hard to debate with you when you are constantly changing the narrative when faced with facts.

I haven't been presented with facts. Much discussion is conjecture and yes, that works both ways.

You have
Fact 1 : There has been Jewish terrorist attacks.
Fact 2: Civilians have been killed in these attacks.

It's grand you don't want to acknowledge them but please don't hide behind "trying to support a community" when you are wrong.

isn't the internet a mine of...stuff.

Lots of very clever (and busy) people analysing and correlating these things but I don't think 'jewish' terrorism is on the watch list for most, still mn as ever is a very subjective place.
