I'm an Orthodox Christian. It has just occurred to me that we might lose all of our sacred places in the Holy Land if this hostility by israel continues.

Might be fake news for all we know. I wouldn’t take anything seriously from Instagram.

It's been widely reported in other places, so not just Instagram. I don't rely on Instagram for news.

I met a waiter in the canary islands called Jesus. He said it wasn't unusual there. The J sound being an H.

Why wouldn't you call god Allah if you were a Christian Arab.

I am a European Christian.

There seems an intention to derail your thread to talk about anything other than the attacks on Christian by violent Jewish settlers @smallglassbottle.

There is derailing on most threads in this section. It is coordinated and obvious.

People complaining about Instagram links, my first link was from the BBC News website, my second link was from the Instagram page of NPR, which is a publicly funded radio network in the US. So both are legitimate sources.

They are violent extremists, there's no bloody excuse for this behaviour across Israel. If the government wants them gone then nail their flag to the mast and say so. Otherwise clear up your homegrown mess

But they won't do that. Too much to lose across Europe the USA and other Christian countries.

Noone is derailing, neither are they stopping you from talking about the substance of the thread, so, go ahead!

And this is why the pro-Israelis are not coming here to denounce it. It’s a bloody disgrace, but they don’t want to admit that Israelis are capable of mindless violence against Christians as well as all those Palestinians squeezed into the Gaza strip. They can’t just stand and bleat about Hamas.
The illegal settlements in the West Bank have to go.

I think we all agree the settlements in the West Bank should go.

Also, how can the Israel supporters be both derailing the thread and ignoring it at the same time?

Not seen anyone on this board say they support the Settlers.

We're paid to rule the world so we can surely manage that!

I never mentioned derailing. Just that the pro-Israelis weren’t here, because how can they defend Israelis attacking Christians when they can’t blame Hamas?

You might say everyone on this board agrees that the settlements have to go. I disagree. I’m sure in light of the fact that 82% of Israelis, in Israel think that Palestinians in the Gaza strip should go, then that would be a highly unlikely sentiment felt by EVERYONE on this board.

dairydebris · 11/07/2025 15:35

The sooner the settlers are put back in their box by a moderate Israeli government the better.
Indefensible attack. Palestinian Christians are a part of the rich culture of the area- theres no justification for this.
I hope the people responsible are dealt with appropriately.

No but @PuttingOnTheKitsch and @TooBigForMyBoots did mention derailing so it seemed ironic when you were then criticising us for not coming to the thread.

It’s a fair point to say it’s possible that some on these boards could silently support the Settlers but I’ve not seen it expressed. Most of us are based in the UK as MN is a UK site and we have expressed that we do not support the settlers.

Saying “the illegal settlements in the West Bank have to go” is something we all either agree with or won’t dispute so either way it seems pointless for people to keep saying it on MN ( maybe on other sites it’s different).

Several Palestinians, including children, were also injured when Israeli settlers, protected by Israeli forces, attacked homes near the village of al-Maniya, southeast of Bethlehem, the Wafa news agency reported.

And how likely is that?

Asking me how likely it is feels a bit belligerent tbh. I'm not getting into a back and forth with you.

Its enough for me to send my sympathies to those affected by this.

No one deserves it @smallglassbottle. Unfortunately it is being encouraged by those in Israel, who think they can get away with it.

Absolutely agree

Or moved out of the West Bank, which they shouldn’t be occupying in the first place.

Well Netenyahu is getting away with war crimes so failing to enact law and order where the victims are Palestinian Christians is a walk in the park.

How long until Israel goes to the polls? How many Palestinians will die before settlers are put back in their box?

Well Israel won't be holding elections while they are in the middle of war.

Another reason for Hamas to surrender, disarm, return the hostages and leave Gaza!

So Netenyhu is beyond the law and the wishes of Israelis so long as he inflicts war?

I'm not wholly au fait with Israeli democracy but are you saying that elections there can't take place in the next round?Confused
