Conflict in the Middle East

Israeli soldier openly talks about how the IDF kill innocent Palestinians

This is one of the most shameful articles I have read regarding the IDF's war crimes in Gaza.

This soldier talks openly how they would shoot innocent Palestinians and how it was like the wild west. The commanders would act depending on how they felt that day. Whether to shoot innocent civilians or kidnap them. Some held the belief that there are no innocents in Gaza and acted accordingly and this belief and subsequent war crimes were not challenged.

It's a hard read but a must. Especially for those who insist the IDF are only fighting Hamas and innocents are just caught up. This article aswell as many others shows that innocents have always been targeted.

Israeli soldier describes arbitrary killing of civilians in Gaza

Speaking in a rare on-camera interview with Sky News, the soldier said the criteria of opening fire on civilians shifted depending on the commander.

Why would I comment if I hadn’t read it?

Still no evidence he was in the IDF or what he’s saying is true though.

I don’t doubt commanders have ordered their troops to shoot first and ask questions later in a war arena like this one btw, which is unprecedented in modern warfare.

Sadly the MO of the terrorists they are fighting has created that situation.

I can see from both sides the terrible choices the soldiers on the ground have to make as well as the horrific loss of civilians.

Which is why I never understood why there has never been more calls for Hamas to surrender from the deafeningly loud pro-Palestinian side.

Edited

This is unbelievable. Do you think sky news didnt check the identity of the soldier and other relevant checks and just picked any old Joe from the street?

And so do Hamas 🤷‍♀️

Except no one is denying that.
You’ve denied that the IDF target civilians for 99% of this thread despite it being put in front of you.

Whatsinanamehey · 07/07/2025 20:47

The soldier doesn't describe shooting first and asking questions later. It's shoot first and then kidnap any Palestinians who try to help the shot civilian. Or shoot first and then leave the body to rot. Or shoot first and then shoot again if anyone else happens to pass by.

Stop trying to derail @TinklySnail , it's not working. Repeating "but hamas" doesn't change the facts that the IDF have targeted civilians to shoot as sport. And one of them has admitted it.

TinklySnail · 07/07/2025 20:50

I know you all dislike any view that supports Israel.

You can deny Hamas is to blame with their attack on innocent civilians on 7/10.
What you fail to see is that the west doesn’t see Israel as to blame because Hamas are terrorists.
When people who support Palestine can openly protest against Hamas then I’ll shut my gob.
Unfortunately I can’t see that happening

The BBC paid Hamas family members for a documentary using licence payers money didn’t they? Not much checking done there. I would not be surprised by anything tbh.

The closer Israel comes to dismantling Hamas the more the desperate propaganda ramps up I find.

I tend to put ‘anonymous’ sources in the same bracket as ‘Gazan health ministry’ etc in this particular conflict.

Whatsinanamehey · 07/07/2025 21:02

What i find is the more evidence of Israeli war crimes that is uncovered, the more desperate deflection of it is ramped up.

Some people will be willing to believe anything except for IDF war crimes. Even when its from the horses mouth.

I’m not derailing anything. You are all so hateful to IDF that you think that a soldier saying they shoot the enemy and give no fucks is reprehensible but moan when anyone mentions the atrocities Hamas inflicted in the first place.

Yup, the desperation is palpable. The Hasbara is failing spectacularly(the extra $150 million budgeted not helping).

The attempt to rebrand as "if you really cared about Palestinians then you would xyz " after being called out as uncaring is not working.

P.s. No one needs "propaganda". Images and 4k videos are available 24/7, showing the inherent evil of repeatedly seeing children with their skulls blown open that ends any arguments of "But, but,but ...."

Why are Gaza’s civilians the “enemy” of the IDF?

ElCorazon · 07/07/2025 12:39

It is the same exact story from the Palestinians. They’ve been killing innocent civilians too, then boast about it on camera.

Just to understand sorry (I'm a bit dumb), are you saying the Palestinians have also been killing civilians? As in Israeli civilians?

Just to say, they haven't.
Or it's about a dozen over 18m. Very sad for those handful of individuals, but not the 50k+ Palestinians.

Thank you, was that your interpretation of the comment I asked about? I just couldn't quite work it out.

But you aren’t adding anything to discussion beyond denounce Hamas. If everyone on this thread denounced Hamas and then sat down to discuss the IDF shooting unarmed kids, adults, old people you’d still say “but Hamas”.

Yep.

I noticed nobody’s answered any of your points about Hamas’s charter BTW.

Thanks for your persistence @TinklySnail.
you know, I keep reading that arguments in support of Israel are ‘wearing thin’, that ‘the world is watching’, and slightly gloating comments about how by trying to stamp out Hamas, Israel are just creating more and more terrorists. I frequently read that ‘accusations of antisemitism won’t wash any longer’ and the like. It simply confirms my view that for many people, hatred of Israel is a powerful driver, and that most people are woefully ignorant of the history of antisemitism - a prejudice that’s so deeply embedded in our culture that many people don’t understand it, and deny it. When I read a thread like this, I’m - sadly - not surprised that terrible things happen in a war, including war crimes, but my overwhelming impression is a cynical one, that some people are almost happy that the IDF are doing this, because they get to feel righteous anger, berate and condemn others, and stoke the fire of their hatred of Israel.

TakeMe2Insanity · 07/07/2025 21:53

There’s a button on CITME section, you may not seen it, it is called “create a new thread”.

Discussion continues.

Oh my, way to downplay the carnage Hamas caused on 7/10, the very reason Israel is now on a mission to eradicate Hamas; before the terrorist regime try to enact their charter and eradicate the whole of Israel

ssd · 07/07/2025 22:35

Another deflection.

Maybe because the Israeli settlers/civilians in the west bank are well known for intimidating and murdering the Palestinians who live there. Whilst the IDF stand around and watch. It's been well documented. Israel tries to keep it quiet but fortunately its been proved time and time again.

Strange how it’s only people who can see through the anti Israel rhetoric who are accused of being part of a paid propaganda machine but I don’t see pro-Palestinians being accused of the same despite that side having arguably more cash available for it - £30 million a month just from Qatar and around £100 million a year from Iran that we know about in addition to all the UNWRA funding and the global anti-semite movement.

Same with all the pro-Palestinian commentators and debaters on TV and SM. Never heard them dismissed as paid shills like the Israel supporting ones are.

I mean someone is paying for the Freedom
flotillas, the setting up of all the marches and protests etc, someone’s made a mint out Palestinian flags and keffiyehs……….

Every government has a budget for public relations. The UK’s communications budget was £749 million last year and we’re not even in an actual war or the most hated country on the planet at the moment.

I don’t need to be paid to give an opinion on my perspective although I wouldn’t refuse a Hasbara cheque to help replenish my Malteser stash,
