Israel is a country at war and I know many will have links or family in that country so I think it appropriate to wish them safety in the coming days.

It's bizarre.

We don't harass them to agree with us.

It's tiring especially people using AI to spout nonsense.

It's just relentless links and generated stuff that we could all go and find if we wanted. I can't speak for anyone else but I'm here to give my support to the Jewish people, who need it. They've been shafted by quite a few high profile people, including Susan Sarandon, who I once respected. I'm not defending my position again and don't expect anyone else to do the same. The thread about supporting terrorists confirmed why I intend to stick around - in solidarity x

It's just relentless links
Have you checked who you've tagged on this? They're a big fan of the relentless links

Links to mainstream reputable news sources are rather different ... don't worry if you don't understand why, I won't be explaining it.

ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend · 20/06/2025 13:51

@PaxAeterna I applaud your determination but they're making you go round in circles so you give up. The world can see the level of destruction in Gaza we are long past bickering over terminology, to me it's demonstrating how little is left to defend

Of course they are. Not bloody you tube videos and twitter shite. No amount of ill people posting about Trump being a clown from their hospital bed is going to get me to change my mind, either, on the Iran situation.

I understand perfectly fine thanks don't need any explanation

You don't have to defend your position.

I've been sucked into doing that too many times by the relentless questioning but in the end, it is a bit pointless.

Can no longer be bothered with the circular arguments that go round and round.

Our opinions are valid. I know it gets a bit much sometimes but I'm glad you intend to stick around.

If you're long past bickering about terminology just use the correct terms, then we won't have to bicker about it.
As it is, posters on here frequently use incorrect terminology to whip up more hatred. And that's unnecessary. That's why I quibble over it at least.
Being bombed is quite bad enough, there's no need to call it otherwise.

Exactly how I feel. Nothing is going to change what's happened and what's about to come because a few MNers quibble over terminology.

So they “targeted” 70% of the buildings, roads and farmland in Gaza? That’s nearly worse really.

Ok. Well I do see your point that it was done over a large amount of time.

The IDF are fighting house to house. Hamas were everywhere, moving from house to house.
Bombing a building that’s got Hamas in it inevitably leads to the surrounding houses getting the windows blown out, doors off etc.

Blame Hamas. They are not defending Gaza, they are getting it destroyed.
Hamas could stop this destruction today.
It’s not like they are going to win now, is it?

Babyboomtastic · 20/06/2025 16:33

SharonEllis · 20/06/2025 13:43

Its about accuracy and a lot of the bombing has certainly been targetted. that's completely unarguable. Im afraid I havent monitored every one. Why do you care what is 'palatable' to me? These discussions are so tedious.

If a lot of the bombing has been targeted, then why are the IDF targeting hospitals and health clinics (WHO say 654 attacks upto the end of 2024, UN 136 though over a shorter period). Bear in mind the IDF have only claimed that 2 of them have had Hamas underneath them.

From those numbers either:

  1. the IDF are deliberately targeting medical infrastructure
  2. the bombing is indiscriminate

'but Hamas' is only a potential excuse in 2 of these strikes.

I don't believe Zamir is on mumsnet to justify IDF targets to you I'm afraid.
I know that's surprising as there's a huge amount of untapped military experience, skill and insight to be found on these boards.

He wouldn't be able to even if he was because they bomb indiscriminately.

Kakeandkake · 20/06/2025 17:15

Did anyone see how recently Israelis and the IDF were targeting a direct hit on a 'terrorist'. A video later emerged showing it was an elderly unwell man. The IDF couldn't really give a response on how they made this 'mistake'

Kakeandkake · 20/06/2025 17:17

Or the time they killed all those aid workers by bombing their vehicles multiple times because one stupid IDF soldier thought one of the international aid workers bag was a gun.

Kakeandkake · 20/06/2025 17:21

Or the time they murdered medics in cold blood and then buried them AND their ambulances to try and hide the evidence.

Kakeandkake · 20/06/2025 17:23

Or the time they killed Hind Rajab and her family and the aid workers who tried to help them and then lied that they weren't there. But as usual their lies were caught out.

If you and others didn't continuously deny them, then others wouldn't have to point it out.
