This isn't a historical grievance. 38 Palestinians were killed today whilst trying to seek aid.

Do you not think there would be posts after posts if 38 Israelis were killed in the last 24 hours. Yet people object to even mentioning it. Just because Palestinians are being killed daily, I will not become desensitised to it.

Whatsinanamehey · 03/07/2025 11:32

This is a thread for what Israel is doing in Palestine.

No it didn’t work before in one very important regard - the humanitarian aid was an income stream for Hamas and we don’t want that, do we?

The last thing we wanted is for Hamas to have money to buy more weapons/build more tunnels etc.

Actually the charities and NGOs said they were getting aid effectively to the people. They are the experts, they were doing the job. They warned against the change, they knew it would be a disaster.

Preventing famine and disease (particularly as Israel continues to dismantle healthcare in Gaza), has to be the priority.

I know it isn’t a historical grievance and I don’t object to you posting it I just was wondering what you & others hope to achieve by posting these sort of posts every day of the war.

I know the Israel- Iran war only lasted 12 days but even so, the pro Israel people were not posting about every death that occurred to Israel civilians.

It is an appropriate thread for doing so and I mean no offence. Just can’t really see the point in these daily updates of the deaths of civilians. It just makes people like me hate Hamas more and makes others hate the IDF more.

This. Israel have not provided evidence that Hamas were stealing huge amounts of aid. The UN have stated less than 1% of their aid was getting looted which is actually lower than most conflict zones. Fed up hearing this as a reason for setting up the GHF. It was set up after weeks of blocking aid to quieten the critics

Well they would do as they were the ones that had the contracts before to deliver aid in Gaza. The UN was denying that Hamas was stealing a lot of the aid they were responsible for delivering but that wasn’t true. Hamas are very threatened by the new aid distribution centres & have targeted local aid workers. That tells me they would prefer to return to the old system because that benefitted them financially.

They do it on the Ukraine thread in chat too. Want to head over there with your opinion too?

Because of things I’ve read that I choose to believe.

Just the same as you choosing to believe what you have read.

I no longer consider the UN a reliable source by the way but accept that others do consider them a reliable source.

That's fine but I'm not sure why you're surprised that those that do trust the UN have nothing but criticism for the GHF and are sceptical about why it was set up in the first place, it is militarising access to aid and literally killing people. There are many far more qualified organisations to carry out the work of delivering humanitarian aid but Israel didn't want these potential witnesses on the ground in Gaza

Im not exactly surprised that some people believe the UN I just wonder why you think Israel have gone to so much effort and money to create a new mechanism for delivering aid if there was nothing wrong with the original system.

They did it for a logical reason as they do most things.

I already gave the reason I think why.

Edited to add you make it sound like posters here are outliers in believing the UN which is clearly not the case!

Whatsinanamehey · 03/07/2025 14:38

I think there were ulterior motives. They announced the new system at almost the same time they announced that they were going to push for the 'voluntary emigration' of the Palestinians from Gaza. There's a reason why they didn't open any hubs in the north. It was so the Palestinians in the north are forced to leave.

I consider that a weak argument, sorry.

The one put forward by @Whatsinanamehey is a bit more credible in my opinion.

But I think the IDF could have just shut down all aid centres in the North if they wanted to, even under the old system.

Twiglets1 · 03/07/2025 14:44

Really don't care what you think of my posts, I'm not here to appease you

Have you forgotten they blocked aid entirely for over 12 weeks and came under huge pressure to rectify that with Netanyahu saying countries won't accept seeing starving people (he didn't actually card about starving people just the negative publicity). Blocking humanitarian aid is collective punishment and a war crime.

I don't see how they would have been able to just close down the ones in the North. There were too many and would need constant IDF presence there to stop them from operating aswell as soldiers for fighting. This way was much sneakier, close the whole system down and then promise to open centres in the north whilst really not intending to.

No I haven’t forgotten that.

If anything, that proves my point that the IDF could have just continued blocking all aid in the North but allowed it to enter freely in the South if their main objective was to move people from the North to the South as per the theory suggested by @Whatsinanamehey

They can do what they want they have plenty of soldiers.

Whatsinanamehey · 03/07/2025 14:51

Recently some clan members tried to distribute aid in the north and the IDF bombed them and those who were collecting the aid. They said it was because they were affiliated with Hamas but no proof given.
They also completely ignored how depraved it looks that regardless of who the IDF think they were, they bombed and killed starving people who were collecting aid in an area where there are no aid centres so no other options.

The IDF are being completely ruthless in their goal of eliminating Hamas and those associated with Hamas.

I don’t agree with how many civilians are getting killed in the process. But they won’t stop until a ceasefire deal is agreed by both sides so that is something Hamas need to be encouraged to do just as much as the IDF.

Aaah yes the charity workers/NGOs are liars, just like the healthcare workers that tell the us about what the IDF are up to eh? 🙄
