Conflict in the Middle East

To think someone has got to stop the mass killings in Gaza

We are back to hundreds of Gazans being killed each day after the so called ceasefire and over 50,000 now slaughtered, mostly women and children.
The bombing of hospitals, schools and 'safe zones' not being enough, they are now picking off paramedics. How much depravity is the world going to tolerate?

AIBU to suggest that the world leaders complicit in Netanyahu's genocide should all stand before the Hague?

Nothing to do wirh skin colour or names. 'Shani louk' hardly sounds like a western name anyway.

It is because her body was paraded about, broken bloodied and spat on by those animals. She represented every single person slaughered but those barbarians.

I'm sorry for any innocent people killed by retaliation but hamas knew exactly what they were starting. Yes we know the history of palestine. No, slaughtering hundreds of innocent people at a festival wasnt every going to achieve anything other than what we are witnessing.

Yep, seeing the videos of Shani’s nearly nude dead body being held the hair, obviously brutalised and defiled, with those monsters legs over her, in the back of that pick up truck with civilians in the crowd hitting her body with sticks, spitting, holding their phones aloft to film her and cheering.

That turned me rabidly pro Israel in a heartbeat.

I imagined my DD who is a festival goer and similar age. Invoked a rage in me I’ve never felt before tbh.

You really can’t try to twist it that Israel made them do that.

I actually used to have a lot of sympathy for Palestinians before Oct 7th. DH has roots and family from the region and had a negative view of Jewish people. There was a put of derision for Jewish people in my family. I’d never actually researched the background and history though, which this conflict made me do.

Just confirmed I was on the right side.

So it would be far more civilised to have annihilated them (on an industrial scale) from 10,000 ft using military prowess ? I wonder if you would show a shred of sympathy if you actually saw some photos of the decapitated babies and limbless children who are being wholesale butchered.

I guess not….’ Because Hamas started it first and now they’re hiding behind women and kids!’

How many under 1 year old Israelis have been killed? Now how many under 1 Palestinian babies have died? Over a thousand in direct conflict.

I eluded to it earlier… you only seem to be deemed a terrorist organisation if you don’t have the 1st world military tech.

What we are witnessing here is ethnic cleansing and genocide.

The word you're looking for is alluded. Eluded changes the meaning of your text, though is perhaps more apt.

Shania Louk was Israel. She was born in Israel, which last time I looked at a map is not in Europe. Not that it should matter.

Thanks for the correction.
I’m sure someone of your intellect understood quite what I was alluding to. Wink

No, she was German from her mother. While she was born in Israel, she was moved to Germany as a baby, grew up there and emigrated to Israel as an adult. Her ethnicity is European Jewish.

Yes and her father was Israeli and she was born in Israel and lived there as an Israeli citizen. She was Israeli. I have seen nothing to suggest that she ever lived in Germany. Not that it really matters, at least both to anyone who isn't determined to paint her as European and therefore somehow less deserving of sympathy for some perverse reason.

White/ European heritage if you really want to be pedantic.
As a previous poster mentioned they would see their DD as a festival goer in her, and probably not a Palestinian child who has been born into a refugee camp in their own homeland. Heaven forbid, how can anyone possibly identify with something so suppressed and marginalised.

So fucking what? Why does it matter if her father was German?

I was born in the UK but my father was not. If someone suggested that I was not really British because of where my father is from that would be racist. If someone suggested I could not possibly be the victim of oppression and that my death had less significance because of where my father came from that would be horrifically racist.

Israel has now normalised killing children, it has killed over 17,400 over them.
So I find it so bizarre some keep banging on about Shani Louk and on how she may or may not have been killed.

Actually, I don’t. It’s probably because they can put a face to the name and identify far closer with a white European than thousands of brown people from a different culture with Arab names.

I agree with you.

SugarandSpiceandAllThingsNaice · 09/04/2025 19:30

She is listed as a German-Israeli woman. Her ethnicity is European Jewish.

I guess you never even bothered to read the Wiki page documenting her early life, I suppose she is more of a symbol to you such that you’re not interested in who she was.

She was European Jewish ethnicity. That doesn’t make her less deserving of sympathy, my question to that poster was why is she more deserving of sympathy than over 35,000 Palestinian women and children.

quantumbutterfly · 09/04/2025 19:41

I would ask the same question to the people who tore down posters of kidnapped children in the days after 7/10, before the death toll mounted.? Why was that child less deserving of sympathy than any other? Why tear down or defile their poster?
Maybe ask the Gazans who broke and defiled hundreds of bodies on 7/10 why those people deserved that treatment?
@SugarandSpiceandAllThingsNaice Where do you think the boundaries of Israel should be, or do you not think it should exist at all? What's your solution to the conflict?

Yeah, I read her Wikipedia page. Which is how I found out that she was born in Israel to an Israeli father?

And I repeat, so fucking what? Why are you both so obsessed with the fact that she was half-European, what had that got to do with anything?

mouthpipette · 09/04/2025 20:07

A year ago, Hamas offered a conversion into a political party, the dissolution of its armed wing and a 5 year truce if Israel went back to it's 1967 borders. Israel declined.

A lot of lives would have been saved, had Israel thought to accept.

Not normally a foxfan but here it is.

CrunchyKnees · 09/04/2025 20:08

Nice try at twisting what I posted @RandomWordsThrownTogether

We all know that people, including children sadly, have died in Gaza. There is a war going on after all and the terrorist government who started it made absolutely no attempts, in all their years of planning and building tunnels, to protect them in such a densely populated urban area. In fact they used civilian areas, residential dwellings, schools, hospitals etc to bring the war right to them.

I didn’t ‘pretend’ otherwise.

Which begs the question of why there is a need to produce clearly fake videos and pictures, often featuring the same people in a variety of different guises.

Do you deny this has happened
@RandomWordsThrownTogether? There is plenty of evidence. Do you think the people in the videos are Israelis posing as Palestinians?

How on earth can you compare that with Holocaust deniers or compare me to one for posting about something that is already known and has been for a long time?

I’m not bothered about your disgusting personal attack btw and don’t require an apology.

No human being deserves to be the victim of a war crime.
No war crime justifies retaliatory war crimes.

Actually you’re the one obsessed with denying her Europeaness. I mentioned in passing “Shani Louk (German woman) “ and you’ve been utterly hell bent on firing off posts arguing pointlessly that she wasn’t a German citizen or of European ethnicity- she was.

No war crime justifies retaliatory war crimes.

So in your world, no country under attack should ever attack back then?

The Allies shouldn’t have attacked the Nazis, just sat back and let them wipe out most of Western Europe/take over the world?

The jury has not yet convened on whether war crimes have taken place in this war btw.

CrunchyKnees · 09/04/2025 20:19

Also Israel has not just been under attack by the Palestinians, they’ve been under attack from Iran, Lebanon and Yemen.

Aren’t you worried that they may have committed war crimes there too or only in Gaza?

Or in Syria?

OK. Still hamas in charge though, what are the chances things would be any different? They are still Iran's puppets.
