Conflict in the Middle East

Last functioning hospital in Northern Gaza is stormed by the IDF

If it wasn't already clear that Israel is carrying out ethnic cleansing in the north of Gaza, then this is the final straw.

IDF soldiers have posted countless videos mocking at the destruction they have caused in the north. The north of Gaza has suffered massacre after massacre at the hands of Israel and after repeatedly targeting the Kamal Adwan hospital, they have now forced them to evacuate after bombing and killing several medics.

I am nervous to find out what the reality is with what is happening in Northern Gaza.

There is also an article in the NY times today on an investigation they have undertaken. Below is the only bit I can view because it's behind a paywall would love to read it if anyone can access it.

After Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack, Israel severely rolled back protections for civilians in Gaza, putting more lives at risk in its bombing campaign with an order that had no precedent in Israeli military history. Here are key takeaways from our investigation.

Whatsinanamehey · 27/12/2024 10:58

Human rights groups have been raising the alarm on the ethnic cleansing and genocide in the north for a long time now. Most which have been dismissed by Israel (no surprise there).

I hope in years to come Israel is held fully accountable for its abhorrent actions. The injustice and depravity sicken every moral person.

Whatsinanamehey · 27/12/2024 11:04

At the start of the war, it was said by many then that Israel's end goal was to clear the north of the strip and establish illegal settlements there. Posters were ridiculed, scoffed at, said it was all hyperbole etc etc. Look at the north today.. they didn't leave anything. Not even a single hospital was left untouched. Bombed everything.

Horror after horror and the world does nothing.
I can't understand it.

This was published yesterday. Not sure if it's what you are looking for.

OP we are watching genocide in action. I can't believe it. What's the stupid defence for this from the usual suspects? It's indefensible.

I'm nervous about it, too, but we have to find out. Israel has got to be stopped and genocide investigations have to be made. I hope this happens soon, but I'm also nervous about it because that's when the true horrors of this genocide will revealed. What we know now is already horrific and unimaginable, I dread what's going to be uncovered when the genocide against the Palestinians is finally brought to an end.

Thanks pretty damning read and definitely evidences everything they have been accused of and denied.

Tel12 · 28/12/2024 11:48

Yet there's very little coverage in the press. Al Jazeera reports: .' Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that Israel’s military has taken dozens of Kamal Adwan Hospital staff, including director Hussam Abu Safia, for interrogation, while the fate of many patients is unknown after troops forcibly cleared the medical facility.' Where's the outrage?

Bombings and fires set alight in Kamal Adwan hospital by the IDF.

According to this testimony of one of the patients at the hospital, all patients and displaced were forced to strip to their underwear, then marked with a number on their bodies before made to walk to the checkpoints in the freezing cold where they were further humiliated and made to wait for hours.

Whatsinanamehey · 28/12/2024 12:46

After destroying the last remaining hospital in the north, the IDF have now started bombing Beit Hanoun which is also in the north. So the people there have to either flee under fire or killed by air strikes. If they are injured, there are no more hospitals left there to get any sort of treatment. If you are still not convinced that you are witnessing the ethnic cleansing in the north of Gaza then this can only mean you are choosing to be blind to it.

Agreed, the argument that Hamas was operating in the hospital does not wash, where are the alternative field hospitals to cater for the medical needs of the civilians your bombing? Where is the access for humanitarian medical staff so they can set up alternatives? Why do they think they can bomb the last hospital in the region and not provide or facilitate any alternative? Can you imagine the fear of knowing if anything happened you there would be no medical facilities or staff to help you.

Not sure if relevant, but 50 MPs have written to the UK government requesting that children from Gaza receive medical treatment here. I don't think the UK has accepted any children for hospital treatment yet, unlike other countries. Given that they cannot be treated in Gaza due to the destruction of health care, this seems like the minimum the UK could do, and I hope the MPs proposing this have success in saving some children, as was done for Ukranian children.

I'm sure we could help and probably should, just as we would with anyone in need. however, wouldn't it make more sense for one of Gaza's neighbours to help, from a practical and logistical standpoint? Egypt for example?
I know they have a border 'fence' with Gaza that would put anything Trump could even dream of, to shame. But surely they could help their fellow Arabs / Muslims with medical care for children? Just this once?

Every country in the world can help or did only ukraines neighbours help Ukrainians?

Majority of the children that were allowed out of Gaza for medical evacuations (after much pressure on Israel to let them leave) were taken in by Arab neighbouring countries.
They are willing to take in many more but Israel routinely blocks even children with multiple amputations from leaving.

@ThisPearlPeer this is just one example you might want to read and catch up on

"It's utterly shocking and outrageous that children who need essential treatment are being blocked by Israel from leaving Gaza. Israel’s denial of urgent medical evacuations defies reason and humanity,” says Moeen Mahmood, MSF country director in Jordan.
In recent months, MSF applied for 32 children and caretakers to be medically evacuated from Gaza to Jordan. Only 6 were allowed to leave. Lengthy procedures and unexplained denials block the provision of medical treatment for children who have been severely injured in Gaza."

@ThisPearlPeer As whatsinanamehey states, Arab countries have taken thousands. European countries have taken a few, the UK none at all, which is shameful.
