His last image of him walking towards the IDF tanks amongst rubble and destruction in his white doctors coat is so tragic. He has been calling for international help to stop the barbaric attacks on the hospital for months. The last remaining hospital in the north and the final nail in the coffin of ethnic cleansing the north of Gaza.

I agree. It’s a heartbreaking picture .

You are twisting my meaning by implying I’m not bothered by derogatory insults against the Irish .

My point was simply that I don’t find the T-shirt funny or in good taste .
That’s all.
you’re all entitled to wear it and enjoy it and I’m entitled to my view
End of

It's not meant to be bloody funny.

Whose laughing at the fact 5 babies froze to death in Gaza this week, the youngest was 4 days old.

It's a tiny little drop in the ocean to show solidarity and sympathy (and maybe even raise a little bit of money) for Palestinians.

I agree with you.

The WHO have demanded the release today of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya director of the Kamal Adwan hospital who is allegedly being held in the notorious detention center Sde Teiman. (One known for torture)

And I have preordered a "cringy" t-shirt from Hairy Baby.

The WHO have demanded the release today of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya
Hopefully this will help safeguard him 🙏

I’m not sure, Israel have shown they have little or no respect for any international organisations that speak out against them. They seem to consider themselves as having a free pass to do anything they like.

It means the war will end. Thought you'd be glad. We know Hamas and their supporters want eternal war but that's ending on January 20th.

Look a unicorn!

Auvergne63 · 30/12/2024 15:34

YourAmplePlumPoster · 29/12/2024 19:58

As Commander Harris, RAF said of Germany who started WW2, "They reaped the wind and sowed the whirlwind." Now Hamas, what's left of you, ask yourselves why you did this and put your people in danger? Of course as they have a billion portfolio, they don't have to worry.

Some of it thanks to Netanyahu, of course.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 29/12/2024 21:39

You are Marty Mcfly, a poster from Ireland on a talk board. President Trump is the most powerful man from the most powerful country on the planet.

He is also a convicted felon. Putin's puppet, a racist. a sexist and likes golden showers from Russian women. Let's not forget that he said that, if he could, he would shag his own daughter. What a lovely man!

Anyway back to the topic of the thread. I hope more countries join Slovenia
@Dulra any news about this in Ireland?
@Auvergne63 France?

I’ve just been to Spain. No news and I really doubt taking into account they’re one of the countries that pay the most cash in. I’ve said it many times but I wish my government did more than what it’s doing (which I’m finding it quite fake)

I haven't anything from France yet.

Trump is a hideous human being and a disaster for America and should not have been able to stand. However, Does any of thst matter in the context of the ME if he facilitates an end to the war? Isnt that what we all want?

Depends how the end is finished. If it’s like he announced “hell will break out” then no that’s not what I want. If it’s via a ceasefire and facilitating a 2 state then I’m up for it

Let’s hope it’s the second option.
It’s not going to be easy and I 💯 understand why people are sceptical about Trump . But he’s motivated entirely by business and money rather than an ideology so if he can be persuaded that facilitating a fair and just 2 state solution is beneficial to American interests and reputation I think he would go for it.
I hope so anyway..

So lets see what happens. Frankly Im fine for various hells to befall Hamas and Iran. We don't know what 'hell' means but Trump is often all talk and his instincts are non-interventionist when it comes to fp. Seems to be an awful lot of pushback on something we want to happen.

The fact he said “if hostages aren’t returned by 20-1 then hell will break through” is that makes me sceptical of his idea. How many innocent civilians will be killed (included these hostages?). I can’t support the idea of ending a war by killing thousands of innocent civilians by hell breaking through

Me neither. Doubt very much Trump pays the slightest attention to MN.

Not sure what you mean with your last sentence as he will do whatever he wants (what benefits him from a power and money point of view) but you asked in your previous comment that he might facilitate the end to the war and isn’t that what we want and I was replying to your comment with my opinion

To what extent is his rhetoric just bluff and bluster? Hard to know. He’s so full of BS and so changeable…

My goodness if Netflix say Jesus was a Palestinian then it must be true.

Please do some proper research about the Middle East BC (that's means Before Christ) and read a bloody book before making such embarrassing remarks.

You haven't actually read the link I provided, have you?
Here is an extract:
"The name “Palestine” for that region also had a long history, though. It first appeared in the fifth century BCE, in the writings of the Greek historian Herodotus.
He wrote of a “district of Syria, called Palaistinê”, between Egypt and Phoenicia, an ancient region that corresponds to modern Lebanon, with adjoining parts of modern Syria and Israel. So, the land (or part of it) was called “Palestine” by the Greeks before it was called “Judea” by the Romans".
I would like to add that this article was written by P C Almond, Emeritus Professor in the History of Religious Thought from The University of Queensland. So no, Netflix didn't say it.
Please do some proper research about the Middle East BC (that's means Before Christ)
Sometime the advice you give to others is the one you should follow yourself, as plainly demonstrated when you wrote BC, instead of BCE (that means Before Common Era), This was introduced in England and Wales in 2002. Do keep up.
I am also twitching, as an ex teacher of twenty years at "that's means". A grammar book would be a good investment, I feel.

See above.
This makes me laugh because, as an avid reader, my house cannot take any more books. I am a book hoarder and so is my husband. Never assume anything about anyone.

In the article posted earlier in the thread Trump is quoted as saying

“As you know, I gave a warning that if these hostages aren’t back home by that date, all hell is going to break out,”

Later, Trump added that if no ceasefire deal is reached by the time he takes office, “It’s not going to be pleasant.”

Hell broke out in Gaza a long time ago and is already an extremely unpleasant existence so I am struggling to understand what else can happen to make it more unpleasant and more hellish then it already is. The rhetoric is not helpful when negotiations are on a knife edge.

How do you know what's helpful? Are you in contact with any of the negotiating teams? I doubt very much if any of us have any idea. I would think his public pronouncements are much less important to the negotiations than what is being said through diplomatic channels which probably wony be revealed. His public stuff is more likely for a domestic audience to keep his base happy.

Yes - I think that’s likely to be true.
