Nobody said the majority of people on the left are terrorist supporters
The poster I was originally responding to did

Who cares what I think about Starmer & Corbyn, though very obviously they are not similar.
I don't care I was merely highlighting the nuances and how things aren't black and white when you can get such different people leading the same political party.

I dont know what a black & white political system
Labour or Tory, Republican or Democrat.

The nature of first past the post means that 'left' and 'right' in the UK are actually huge coalitions of different views.
No proportional representation does that, first past the post has pretty much produced labour or Tory for as long as I can remember. Of course there's differing views within the party but they are all still from the same party with the same ethos and manifesto.

You yourself said Starmer & Corbyn are very different but were in the same party. That's because the Labour Party is a coalition of different views even if there are some shared values, often referred to as 'a broad church'. If we had PR the different factions would split into different parties because they would have a chance of being elected. Thats why we have had, mostly, either Labour or Tory governments.

Anyone who is interested should look up the history of how the left became entangled in Arab nationalism in the seventies. It's eye opening. Prior to that, the left was very sympathetic to Jews seeing as how most of the lefts major intellectuals were Jewish.

Yes, its an interesting switch, not only here but in the US and Europe too.

Yes Labour or Tory might have differing views within the party and of course different types of leaders can be popular at different times but ultimately in parliament they've to vote with the party whip which can limit their influence.

Wow 🤦‍♀️

Yes, pretty predictable attempt though to discredit someone's views call them "nuts", very last century though, thought we'd moved on from this kind of rhetoric

someone is becoming increasingly abusive as none of their derailing and deflecting tactics are working!

@Auvergne63 Jesus was not 'both' because it's impossible.

Only in your limited way of seeing things!

stomachamelon · 28/12/2024 20:20

Also if Jesus was Palestinian then it implies that Palestine should be a Hebrew/ Aramaic speaking Jewish nation not an Arabic speaking Islamist nation......

It’s worth sticking around on this thread just to see people contort themselves so much they combust 😂

wanderingstar23 · 28/12/2024 20:25

So your argument is: Jesus could not have been a Palestinian because Palestine is “Islamist” and they don’t speak Hebrew. Therefore, Israel should be allowed to crack on with Eurovision.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 28/12/2024 20:26

Aside from the speech police on here, I thought I'd highlight a leftie magazine. Can I say leftie or is that banned too?
"The importance of militant anti-Zionism to an international movement against capitalism cannot be overstated. The financial ties between the imperialism and the International Zionist Movement that continues to ensure Israel serves as an imperial colony in the heart of the Arab world. Israels crimes not only against the Palestinian people, but against all Arab peoples. And finally, Israel's crimes against the peoples of the Tricontinentle Africa, Asia, the Americas as a favor-runner for American Imperialism."
Is it OK to say batshit?

Inserting a random quote in questionable English, from literally no one on here, in order to disagree with it, is really scraping the barrel!

That is a completely different point. I give up.

Her point made perfect sense and the quote illustrates it perfectly.

Rousseau said it better than I ever could. when he said "Insults are the arguments employed by those who are in the wrong."

Quite entertaining too.

wanderingstar23 · 28/12/2024 20:49

She made two points in quick succession. One that asserted Jesus wasn’t a Palestinian because…Aramaic and Islamists. Another that just had a chat gpt-esque quote and no point. I think @SharonEllis is referring to the former. Which I don’t agree with but does sound more like a logical argument than the quote.

Islamic terrorism is toast. Defeated by the IDF. The left should find another cause to hang their hat on. Maybe causes closer to home, like homelessness, poverty and joblessness. The stuff that the left used to concern themselves with.
