Conflict in the Middle East

To be properly crying because of what I just saw on the news. *Warning graphic description*

I often have the news on in the background whilst I work from home. Background noise and it's good to stay up to date with current affairs. Big mistake today.

Footage of women and children bleeding out in Gaza and a terrified and panic stricken medic (the only one alive to help!) not knowing who to help, passed a child screaming to help her sister who was dying, dead children in pools of blood, a woman propped up, dead or nearly dead with her leg blown off whilst many many explosions going off in the background. Blood everywhere and screams of dying women and children. I had to turn it off as I was in floods of tears. What in the actual f*ck. How is this still going on? How is this being allowed to happen? How are we and other nations funding this? Where is the humanity? This is obliteration. These are innocent people, not Hammas. The Israeli government need to answer for these atrocities and they need to do it now before any more die. These are war crimes. There is no other word for it. What an earth can we do to stop this!! INNOCENT PEOPLE, INNOCENT CHILDREN ARE DYING IN HUGE NUMBERS.

I doubt there's ever been a period in history where there hasn't been a war of some sort going on.

This is a genocide being carried out by one of our allies and exused by our shameful government. Keir Starmer gave a speech a few days ago how he won't accept any more excuses of the Israeli government for not allowing In enough aid, but it's just empty words isn't it?

Limesodaagain · 22/10/2024 17:25

The soldiers are also victims. They are conscripts and didn’t ask for this but will probably be haunted by this war for the rest of their lives.

Comedycook · 22/10/2024 17:27

And don't forget that those who are most happy to see Palestinian civilians suffer are Hamas...the more suffering the better as far as they're concerned.

Well I've sent another email to my MP, who knows if ur makes any difference, but I'm just desperate to do something. We need our politicians to take strong decisive action, otherwise we as a nation are complicit.

I plan to do the same. I’ve emailed at least six times they are probably sick of me at this point, I’m in a Tory stronghold.

Remembrance Day is looming in the UK. What an utter load of hypocritical bullshit it’s become - solemn parades, the wreaths, “never again”, “we mustn’t let humanity sink into the abyss of war ever again” blah blah BUT IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN, RIGHT NOW, under our noses. And our governments are supplying the weapons 😭

So true. If only Armstice Day 24 could be the end of this war too.

This. Alot of ex-Israeli soldiers are actually protesting against the atrocities in Gaza - the Israeli media is very heavily curating this out.

Typical Israeli line that is trotted out whenever the suffering of the Palestinians is discussed. As if it justifies the suffering inflicted on them by Israel.

That's true I hadn't thought of hypocritical Remembrance day is going to appear 🙁

How is it hypocritical? Has there ever been a remembrance day where there hasn't been a war going on somewhere in the world?

Do other global conflicts upset you, or just this one?

The repeated quoting of this to call out apparent anti-semitism says far more about you than it does about people being horrified by what they see.

Does this one upset you?

MedicineHat · 22/10/2024 18:16

You aren't being unreasonable for being horrified. It IS truly horrific and utterly heartbreaking. But you are being unreasonable for crying about it. Your tears won't change anything, they don't help the people suffering. Those people don't need your tears, they need action.

Bideshi · 22/10/2024 18:17

I think the thing that makes it particularly harrowing is the entrapped thing. It's a tiny area with a dense population. The borders are closed. There is no escape. There are other appalling conflict in the world but there are also waves of refugees trying to escape those conflicts. It's shooting fish in a barrel - horrific and morally indefensible.

Ones that support Israel. A lot of them are Indian owned.

A Zionist is a person who believes there is a right to a Jewish state. Please get your facts correct.

Ambroserock · 22/10/2024 18:23

I have just emailed my MP, yet again and Keir Starmer but it feels so utterly futile. I am so sickened, although have mostly stopped being shocked, at the total heartlessness shown by far too many.

How do you measure the level of a Hamas terrorist's happiness v the Israeli government/IDF's at the suffering of Palestinians?
Do they take a survey?

JaneJeffer · 22/10/2024 18:25

The people of the world are crying out for an end to this and being ignored by those in power. It's sickening.

And the award for the most sickening comment goes to you.

SouthernFashionista · 22/10/2024 18:55

It is dreadful.

As is the fact that the Israeli hostages remain apart from their families. It is utterly appalling and cruel.

zeddybrek · 22/10/2024 18:58

I just can't get over or understand why they can't leave if they want.

They shouldn't have to. No one should.

But death should not be the only option for anyone.

They can't leave as none of the neighboring countries will allow them asylum. Egypt has a wall up far bigger and longer than Israel.

Mumistiredzzzz · 22/10/2024 19:04

I agreed, of course. How is this news to you at this point though. This suffering, I jury and death have been happening for months and months and it's horrific.

Wimbledonmum1985 · 22/10/2024 15:43

Revolting statement. You should be ashamed of yourself.

No, actually, I’m not.
And you’d be surprised how many people feel exactly the same about it as I do.

Martymcfly24 · 22/10/2024 19:11

To see the image of the little girl carrying her sister to a hospital (mirroring the famous image of the little boy in Japan carrying his brothers body) broke me.

How the world has allowed this to happen ill never know and we have no excuse, it's a genocide being live streamed.
