Most of the detainees released today were being held without charge from Gaza. That's sick that they made them wear that.

Agreed. These people are innocent, they don't deserve to be treated in this way. Also, they shouldn't be using the Star of David, or any religious symbol, in this way. I have Jewish heritage and this is so offensive to me! How dare they use the Star of David to humiliate and threaten!

It's wrong as is the gift packs and parading and the forcing of hostages to read statements

Promoting Hamas propaganda is not only wrong, but illegal.

SharonEllis · 16/02/2025 12:01

Troufanov was told on his release that his father had been murdered on 7 October, when he himself was taken hostage and shot in both legs. His family has requested that footage of him in captivity should not be played. Disgraceful that this post is still here.

Martymcfly24 · 16/02/2025 12:03

Agree @Thisandthatandthensome both sides have not covered themselves with glory here. In such a fragile situation there is no need for such point scoring.

Innocent People are being used as pawns by Hamas and the Israeli government. (Nothing new there then)

That is barbaric!!
Where is the condemnation for such atrocities? I am struggling to come to terms with how a democratic state can carry out such heinous crimes.

I didn't think I was capable of being shocked anymore.

I am truly shocked at this.

Eighteen of those released Saturday had been sentenced to life and 54 were serving long sentences for their involvement in deadly attacks against Israelis.

So, not all innocent or held without charge.

I didn't say all. I said most. And most have not been charged with anything but still treated in a despicable manner.

Israeli soldiers used an 80-year-old Gazan as a human shield. Then they killed him

I am so shocked. The IDF’s behaviour in this is especially appalling and immoral.

It is interesting to see how, after that old man with a stick had finished 8 days not only of being used as a shield to enter bombed buildings, but having to do so with an explosive cord around his neck,

on being released, another battalion took aim at him and his wife and shot them.

Some of the soldiers have evidently sunk very low.

Haaretz 15 February writes that even an incoming IDF general has noticed the depths they have been sinking to. Excerpt from Haaretz
( without links):

Maj. Gen. (res.) Yair Golan,
who heads the Democrats, the left-leaning political party he formed, was for a short time Zamir's commander. He told me that another task awaits the new chief of staff: to ensure that the IDF behaves in the territories "like the Israel Defense Forces, and not God's Revenge Forces."

He mentions a flagrant failure at the top throughout the war: the inability to ensure that soldiers don't stray from the IDF's declared norms.

and,

Col. (res.) Hanoch Daube, who headed an armored battalion in the war, described the situation well this week in Amir Oren's podcast. "There has been a severe moral erosion to the IDF's 'purity of arms,'"Daube said.

Harsh things are happening. If Zamir hears this podcast, this is the most significant crisis we have to address: to condemn, to investigate and to punish with great severity. There have been many cases of people [Palestinians] who crossed a red line marked by our forces, entered a kill zone and took a bullet to the head without the forces carrying out the procedures for arresting a suspect.

"If a child or an old man enters a forbidden area and isn't directly endangering you, morally, you're not allowed to shoot them. In this respect the IDF needs a very large correction, and this goes for everything we've done: demolishing, killing, using firepower."

Personally I think Israel has been very badly let down by a proportion of its own. Propping up Netanyahu has been contaminating.

The fact though that this general can point out that they’ve strayed so far from what is right is commendable imo.

Rest in peace to the couple ❤️. The descent into lawlessness guided by revenge is going to have severe consequences on society in the future.

This story highlights the sort of effects that will be prevalent:
Two Israelis were shot in Miami, by a third Israeli who said, after getting arrested, that "he saw two Palestinians and shot and killed both.”

Now the Israeli "victims" are saying it was an antisemitic attempted murder and add "Deth to Arabs .

You are most likely right unfortunately.

That is such a bizarre story.
It is lucky the Israeli father and son were just slightly wounded.

I’m not shocked this is standard behaviour of the soldiers in the IDF. What’s the excuse that regular names on here are working on?

Wow, this is the behaviour that is encouraged by the IDF that’s why he feels so normal explaining it.

“While Brafman was in the interview room with detectives, the report said, he spontaneously told them that he was driving his truck, saw two Palestinians and shot and killed both”

It's revealing that he shot them 17 times, so no "accident"!

Why is victims in quotation marks?

That's a cut and paste of the tweet that highlighted the incident from Ireallyhateyou, so victims is in quotes as he decided to tweet it like that.
