Every day Gaza sees death and destruction, and for what.

I’m not sure anyone remains shocked by these attacks on hospitals. It was going to be hard to sink lower than the babies that were left to die.

Thanks to you and everyone who has managed to keep raising awareness. I read that Qatar may be getting involved in ceasefire negotiations again.

ScrollingLeaves · 07/12/2024 20:20

Horribly it seems now to have got to the stage where this is so normal you just wonder if the end will ever come. Attacking seems to have become compulsive for Israel.

Apologies if this has been posted before. The tweets contain links to the English version of the article on archive.ph which can be read for free. There are also links to the report in the twitter thread.

I don't know anything about those posting the tweets. I'm posting the twitter thread for the links.

Palestine is slowly being shoved out of the news by Syria. The west, especially the US, have been funding the rebels for years. This is a regime change pushed by the West the same as when the US funded the Ba’ath revolutionaries to power in Iraq in the 1960s which gave us Saddam in the 1980s but we had to invade to change that regime again.

I am thoroughly disgusted with all of this and sick of the inhumanity and cruelty of our government and supposed allies.

Help yourself. Why not. Why stop there? Everyone needs a little extra living space on this crowded planet.

Daftasabroom · 11/12/2024 08:38

from a Twitter account operated by Benjamin Netanyahu’s office: “The importance of this historic recognition has been underscored today. The Golan Heights will be an inseparable part of the State of Israel forever.”

The Independent.

"The IDF seizure of Syrian positions in the buffer zone was a "temporary defensive position until a suitable arrangement is found", he said."

What do you achieve by making things up. You actually have no idea how long the buffer zone will be required for security.

Toomanywars · 11/12/2024 19:05

Echo chambers achieve nothing 🙄

Was so sorry to hear this today. I know people who work with the charity that brought them over as kids and they are so upset by it. Makes it more real when you talk to people that know someone killed.

I was very sad to see this today too. Such a waste of life. And for what?

It's a fair point though. Taking anything Netanyahu says at face value is foolish at this stage. All he does is lie.

Unbelievable aerial footage of northern Gaza being bombed to oblivion.

I saw this earlier today, really shocking stuff. Who is going to be expected to bear the cost of Israels decision to destroy everything? Imo there needs to be serious discussions about reparations from both Israel and the US, and anyone else who has facilitated this.

Do people expect any reparations. Do people believe any of this will be rebuilt. It doesn't feel likely

Its a shame that Gaza never moved forward to an acceptance of a 2 state solution years ago. It's a crime that they were perpetually reliant on aid. No satisfactory solution meant hamas terrorists ran gaza, keeping taxes and allowing the billions in aid to keep the population, rathervthan they did it themselves. No reason or desire to change the status quo. Then the attack of 0ct 7th changed everything forever.

I suppose I maybe naively hope so. I know the Israeli government doesn't feel that International Law applies to them but International law recognises the obligation to provide reparations for victims of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. It may not be today or tomorrow but once the true devastation of this conflict has been laid bare for the world to see I would hope that eventually Israel would do the right thing.

So it's the people of Gaza's fault that Israel destroyed Gaza? Is that your point or am I misunderstanding?

Israel has occupied the Palestinian territories and the Golan Heights since the Six-Day War of 1967.

So judging by previous behavior it's probably fair to suggest a good while. They've not just invaded and occupied they have actively colonized and undertaken systematic ethnic cleansing.

And as posted up thread:

Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that the annexed Golan Heights “belongs to Israel for eternity.”

So if you think Israel is really just setting up a temporary buffer zone it's likely @Auvergne63 really is the tooth fairy.
