For those that have friends and family in Israel just a quick message to hope all is OK at this worrying time.

This is awful and utterly heartbreaking but what is the point of this post? Atrocities like this have happened on both sides. I can show you examples of similar things that have happened to Palestinians - but I won't. It serves no purpose. We can only hope for peace in the future.

Lots of people appear to make countless excuses for terrorists but shooting a mum shielding her baby in a terrorist attack is sick. Its not resistance.

What is the point of this post?

It’s on a thread entitled ‘For all those with friends and family in Israel, hope you’re safe’ regarding Israel being under attack. This was another terrorist attack on Israelis….,,, Does it offend you that someone has posted that an Israeli mother was shoot dead in Israel by Palestinians while shielding her baby?

Yes, please provide examples of Israeli terrorists going on a shooting rampage in a city like Ramallah, shooting a mother shielding her baby dead and 5 other civilians?

herecomesautumn · 02/10/2024 20:52

@SallyWD Why continue to "both sides" on a thread about Israel and Israelis?

It's what gets so many people riled and drives people off threads

Seriously, you are asking for examples of Israeli brutality? How long have you got?

stomachamelon · 02/10/2024 21:27

@ssd that's not what they said and you know it.
Perhaps you could take that thought to one of the numerous threads you start and maintain specifically addressing that? Rather than derail this one as so many of you are.
What made you read and post here in the first place? Is it a siren call?

No, it doesn't offend me that someone posted it. It deeply upsets me, as I'm sure it does all of us.

No, I won't post examples of other atrocities. It's not appropriate and what would it achieve? It will just cause more upset, more hate and more division.

I just want peace.

stomachamelon · 02/10/2024 21:50

@SallyWD that terrorist attack was symbolic. Similar to the attacking of the kibbutzim on Oct 7. They attacked unarmed civilians including that mum and baby in an area of high Jewish/ Arab coexistence. Jaffa is the highest in that area I believe.

They are attempting to kill all possibilities of peaceful coexistence and all potential of peace. This was orchestrated by the Islamic Republic and even though Israel is invested in protecting its citizens this sort of psychological warfare and genocidal terrorism cannot continue.

We all want peace. But this thread was to be solace for those of us with family and friends in Israel.

Hear hear.

Hundreds of threads saying pretty much the same thing. Got fed up and thought you come and upset people on a thread concerning worries for Israelis did you.

ssd · 03/10/2024 08:05

I always find when someone is trying to defend the indefensible, they resort to snide, personal attacks, which is what's happening here. Trying to drag up my posting history too...all a bit too desperate, guys....

But keep defending Israel here on mn, and ignore any criticism....how you can sleep at night is beyond me.

Carry on.

I feel I should tell you, as a recent lurker, that you are damaging any cause you believe you are 'fighting' for on this thread.

I have had a quick look, there are many active threads you could go and rant in (though it looks like only the same few people are listening/responding over and over again anyway).

That you chose this one, titled very clearly, and choose to be disrespectful and derail it speaks volumes.

The optics are... unpleasant.

Indeed, it speaks volumes.

Don't you think it's "snide" to suggest that others can't sleep at night because they have a different viewpoint t from you?

Not necessary on this particular thread.

To get back to the topic of the thread, I hope everyone is safe. It's a terrifying time for everyone.

It's a thread specifically about Israel and Israelis though.

Boards and threads are different

SunnyZebra · 03/10/2024 20:34

Wow! MN has been busy with the delete button today…

let’s be honest, people with family and friends in Israel are very likely to be Jewish or have close links with the Jewish community so those people turning up and posting goody, unpleasant comments here are just doing it to upset and bully Jewish posters. If you ARE one of those posters, I suggest you go and look in the mirror to check whether there’s an antisemite looking back at you, and if you’re capable of reading books, not just using tik tok to ‘educate’ yourself, then you’d benefit from reading “ Israelophobia “ by Jake Wallis Simons.

Indeed.

There were so many awful posts. It's unnecessary. Thankfully gone.
