Good, finally countries are starting to recognise that it's time to exclude America, who have only ever acted as a shield and an obstacle to peace favouring one side and expecting the Palestinians to capitulate.

It's non binding but shows the direction of travel.

Younger generations who will have power in years to come will follow through (after being unfairly labelled as useful idiots).

poppyzbrite4 · 18/09/2024 18:57

As though they'll listen.

Lettherebejustice · 18/09/2024 19:11

Excellent! Will they also be imposing sanctions if they fail to abide? As it seems likely they will ignore it as usual.

endoftheworldisnigh · 18/09/2024 20:01

Israel will completely ignore this as they always do, and continue to drag the whole region into a huge war, an intention they have amply demonstrated today.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world will wring their hands at how awful the situation is, but the USA will continue to provide weapons to facilitate Israel which would be more usefully sent to Ukraine.

BelleHathor · 18/09/2024 20:11

The UN of today won't actually do anything as they realise that this whole mess is of their doing due to their actions back in the 1940s.

The only thing that will move them are alliances like BRICs becoming stronger and supported by many countries.

Jealousy is a strong motivator, look at how unhappy many of the "civilised west" were with the Chinese brokered peace agreement between the Palestinian factions. If the Global South can leverage the power of unity (and control of most of the worlds natural resources) to push change then we'll get it.

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/09/2024 20:18

Not before time. Unfortunately it will have no effect. BN won't listen. He doesn't even listen to the Israeli electorate.

He's a madman on a mission and he doesn't care how many die, how much damage he does or what anyone else thinks about it.

TokyoSushi · 18/09/2024 20:22

Which is great, but will fall on entirely deaf ears.

anotherlevel · 18/09/2024 20:28

I completely agree. As someone said, will there be sanctions if he ignores it? Probably not.

Agree with this

One day Palestinians will be free from occupation, I truly believe this even though they are currently enduring immense suffering as a people.

Even if the whole world is against them, they will always have Allah on their side

That’s right anotherlevel and the Ummah will not abandon them even when things look bleak and Israel sinks to new lows when it comes to war crimes and terror.

Sharing such an account isn't wise at all and can reasonably be interpreted as support for Hamas in doing so.

Thank you, noted, though as far as I am aware the offence under the Terrorism Act 2000 section 12(1A) is :
(1A)A person commits an offence if the person—
(a)expresses an opinion or belief that is supportive of a proscribed organisation, and
(b)in doing so is reckless as to whether a person to whom the expression is directed will be encouraged to support a proscribed organisation.

Also noted is the Red triangle is not banned in the UK, the only country I have heard that has done so is Germany:
https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20240708-germany-bans-inverted-red-triangle-symbol-used-by-hamas/

SuppressedNws is not a UK based account, he lives in the region and it's his right to not see Hamas as a terrorist group.

I myself posted a link to a video of Palestinians being shown love in other countries. Are all Palestinians Hamas.

So thank you for your concern, I have not expressed any support for a proscribed organisation as I am fully aware that Hamas is proscribed in the UK.

Terrorism Act 2000

An Act to make provision about terrorism; and to make temporary provision for Northern Ireland about the prosecution and punishment of certain offences, the preservation of peace and the maintenance of order.

It’s a shame that your video that was so positive to be deleted for reasons not related with the video.

Jealousy? A load of murderous terrorists plotting together, brokered by despots. No wonder the West wasn't impressed.

UN General Assembly overwhelmingly calls for end of Israeli Occupation

Phew. Glad that's finally sorted then.

StupidFarang · 24/09/2024 12:52

What would happen if Israel unilaterally withdrew from the WB?

Israel has unilaterally withdrawn twice. Once in Gaza and once in Lebanon.
And now look where it is. Hamas took control of Gaza and Hezbollah didn't disband in Lebanon. Not sure these are such great precedents.

I think the two state solution is the only viable compromise solution (well aware neither side seem to want to advane towards it right now) in the end and eventually there does need to be an end to the military occupation but, really, demanding an end in 12 months? Everyone knows that is not possible and the people who would be most harmed by a unilateral Israeli withdrawal are Palestinians. They'd end up controlled by Iran. It'd be Gaza on steroids
