Sooo we can say Allah is with the Palestinians but we can't say God is with the Israelis
Wow Mumsnet. Way to go!!

Who said Allah is with the Palestinians? You said God was on the Israeli side. Pretty sure God is on the side of peace, respect love thy neighbour as thyself

EasterIssland · 24/09/2024 14:00

StupidFarang · 24/09/2024 13:58

Yes, they did. Way down. That Allah is with the Palestinians.

I didn’t mention allah. Also if you have a complaint about a deleted comment then contact mhnq directly and they’ll let you know why it was deleted

StupidFarang · 24/09/2024 14:00

Nope the Allah comment is still there.
So according to Mumsnet, it's OK to say Allah is with the Palestinians but offensive/hate speech to say God with the Israelis.
Goodness. Wonder who they're employing to monitor their site!
See this get reported and deleted. 3...2...1

Please contact mhnq rather making assumptions as to why your comment was deleted. Because probably it wasn’t for that reason why it got reported and deleted (tho I might be wrong)

The two quotes aren't the same.....There's a difference between being with someone (as in a support in difficult times joining with them) and being on someone's side

StupidFarang · 24/09/2024 14:03

@EasterIssland

  1. you're not the only poster on this thread

  2. go and read what an occupation is and what it means and where the illegality lies. An occupation in and of itself is not illegal and, in this case, was inevitable albeit was meant to be temporary. The settlements are illegal BECAUSE it's occupied land and you can't move a civilian population onto it. There's a difference

Edited

Then why can one not say God is also supporting Israelis during their difficult times. That was apparently reported and deleted.

StupidFarang · 24/09/2024 14:07

Also the original quote literally said Allah was on their side

Even if the whole world is against them, they will always have Allah on their side

I posted this few days ago as a comfort to another poster who shares the same religion as myself.

The resolution makes zero sense, particularly as it includes East Jerusalem. This was ethnically cleansed of Jews by the Jordanians in 1948. So to restore the 1967 position the Israelis would have to expel themselves from the Old City and Jewish Quarter, leaving the Western Wall and synagogues in the hands of whom exactly? The Waqf? the PA? Hamas? What about the enclave on Mount Scopus - a bit tough on the students at the university. Would it be the subject of a weekly visit by UN troops to relieve the "siege"? And of course don't think that these matters can be settled by negotiation because the ICJ has said in its wisdom that no negotiation is possible. So back to the Mandelbaum Gate - barbed wire down the ceasefire lines, etc. Lots of material for novelists, I suppose, but complete nonsense.

StupidFarang · 24/09/2024 14:18

Ofc total nonsense and the Palestinians themselves would be panicking if they actually thought it'd happen because it'd be a total and unmitigated disaster.

Israel annexed east Jerusalem so legally it's not actually occupied but I guess they don't want to let details get in the way of a good resolution

It'd be fine if when I wrote almost the exact same thing but for israelis and God it was apparently hateful or offensive.

And not all Palestinians follow the same religion (nor Israelis for that matter)

@StupidFarang To be honest I found your post a bit sarcastic and given the contents of what you had previously posted which was deleted it felt like you were mocking someone's belief.

I don't think it is appropriate to make statements about what side god may or may not be on in a conflict and im allowed to share my opinion just as you are.

To be on someone's side, especially in a conflict is different to being by their side if that is what you meant.

If there is a God, let's hope he or she is on the side of all those suffering, Palestinian or Israeli.

Is a totally different kettle of fish legally if an area is annexed. After all, Jordan had annexed jerusalem and that somehow was OK?
Palestinians living in E jerusalem don't want to give up their israeli residency BTW. One of those murdered by Hamas at the Nova party was a Palestinian East Jerusalem resident who was working as a driver. He was executed.

samG76 · 24/09/2024 15:26

Jordan occupied the entire West Bank and E Jerusalem. It was okay (and even recognised by the UK) only because, as now, unless the Israelis could be blamed no-one cared. Ditto the massacre of 20K Palestinians by the Jordanians in "Black" September 1970, or the tit-for-tat slaughters of Palestinians and Christians during the Lebanese Civil war.

StupidFarang · 24/09/2024 16:58

They also forget about all the sunni Muslim civilians, including Palestinians, brutally murdered by Hezbollah when fighting for the Assad regime in Syria.
But apparently they are now humanitarians only fighting for the sake of Gaza

Who here has called Hezbollah humanitarians? what a ridiculous thing to suggest with zero evidence. Such goady irrational statements

Bells3032 · 24/09/2024 17:56

It's an utter nonsense resolution. Israel will not with draw until they have a guarantee of security. If they withdraw there will be October 7th attacks over and over again. Something hamas and Hezbollah have openly said they will do.

The only way it will happen is with some sort of peacekeepers but Israel won't trust the un peacekeepers as a number of the un staff took part in the October 7th massacres and even held hostages in their homes. These very staff members the un has been seeking diplomatic immunity for this week! So the un has lost all credibility within Israel and they will be pointedly ignored. If the un want peace maybe they should start with calling for their own staff members to release the hostages they are involved in keeping prisoners?

Yet they haven't - and are even trying to avoid punishment for those involved. the un don't want peace they just want to get rid of the problem of their own creation.

Lettherebejustice · 24/09/2024 18:28

@Bells3032 that's a very serious accusation to make. Which UN staff members are holding hostages? Do you have a reliable source for this?

StupidFarang · 25/09/2024 02:13

One of the released hostages was held in the house of an UNRWA school teacher. UNRWA employees took part in 7/10.
It's not so hard to imagine. Unrwa effectively provides services a government would supply and directly employs tons of local staff to do so.

PurpleChrayn · 25/09/2024 02:29

The war could stop if Hamas returns the hostages and stands down.

Oh, there have been threads where posters wrote that Hezbollah are only fighting for Gaza (because they care so deeply) and if only the war stopped in Gaza that Hezbollah would just stop. You don't have to look far.

But good that on this thread we can all agree that Hezbollah is an odious terrorist group that has been committing war crimes on a daily basis against Israeli civilians for the last year, that has committed horrendous war crimes against civilians in Syria in support of the Assad regime, and is dragging poor Lebanon into a war for no reason other than the desires of their Iranian paymasters who are happy to fight Israel to the last Arab.

(not to mention their bombings of US marines in Lebanon etc back during the civil war but we don't go there obviously)
