I see the old thread is sadly almost full. I wonder how many of these I will start? 😢

@ScrollingLeaves That's absolutely awful.

Here is more about it.

The Israeli government is also recruiting Indians to work in construction in order to replace Palestinians.

Netanyahu is said to want the war to go on and on, so they’ll need to recruit more soldiers as they must not have enough conscripts. Then no doubt they’ll use the asylum seeking African army recruits for riskier tasks.

I understand them wanting labour for construction from other lands and not trusting people from Gaza again after 7th October.

The (French) Foreign Legion used to recruit from overseas and were a paid army, not sure if they still exist though.

Plenty of armies allow recruits from other nations there are many EU nationalities fighting in Ukraine. That's not the issue the issue is bribing vulnerable desperate people to fight in Gaza imo that is ethically wrong and exploitative.

Offering them asylum if they fight for their country aka risking their lives. That’s bribing vulnerable people as you say

Regarding not trusting Palestinians , general punishment for what a few people from their country have done ?

Not general punishment, worries about hamas managing to get an operative in a position where more innocents will die. Its understandable when there appeared to be so many hamas who were able to take part in October 7th.

Self defence eh? Looks mighty like genocide doesn't it?

They do not want the outside world knowing so much of what they are doing.

Then there will be those who will not want the critics from among themselves watching either.

PeasfullPerson · 18/09/2024 12:27

This is completely out of control.

Absolutely. But the people with the power to stop it or at least rein it in are just letting it continue. Ordinary people in the region are terrified. People with loved ones in the region are scared too. Nobody felt safe to start with, but this just adds a new layer to that. Given the loose definition of 'legitimate target', how safe is anyone, really?

re the Israeli state turning on its own people too, this is in Haaretz

Israelis Are Living in a Regime of Fear and State Violence

These are the days of a fear regime. Fear of protesting against cabinet ministers who love power, money and authority. Fear of protesting against a dictatorship that has taken over the country. Fear of protesting in the streets in a desperate cry to save the hostages in Gaza. Fear of waving signs demanding the establishment of a state commission of inquiry.

Save the children :

710 Palestinian newborn babies have been killed by Israeli forces during the ongoing war in Gaza.

‘Worlds most moral army’

I saw one tonight in Channel 4 news, not absolutely new born, but a baby in arms, being carried to a hospital covered in blood by a neighbour after the baby’s family had all been killed.

Unfortunately, West Bank and Lebanese children will be worlds most moral army’s victims (or they already are)

😢😢💔💔

An artist has created a memorial to the children of Gaza using 15,000 teddy bears each symbolising a child killed since 7/10. 😢😢💔💔

"Unfortunately, West Bank and Lebanese children will be worlds most moral army’s victims (or they already are)"

To Israel they are indispensable in this genocide because to them, they are all "terrorists". 😤

It’s not just the Israeli government. This kind of genocidal ‘kill them all’ sentiment is being expressed on MN.

A poster on another thread said they think Israel should annihilate all combatants and potential combatants. They were taking about potential combatants being Lebanese people referring specifically to the 2 children and the doctors killed by the pager explosions, but it was said generally enough to be applicable to every human living in the lands that Israel is currently attacking- Palestinians, Syrians and Iranians.

And to some posters unfortunately they’re side effects of a war. Wonder whether killed Israeli kids are as well side effects of a war

BelleHathor · 19/09/2024 11:53

Absolutely, social media over the last 48 hours can only be described is a dumpster fire of ignorance, lies, propaganda, racism (with the Irish catching strays) and inhumane (may I say evil) justifications of actions in "defence" aka collateral damage is a.ok.

It's quite sickening to witness. It seems to have a made quite a few people comfortable to show their true colours in a celebratory manner.
There was even a politician in America who asked protesters if they were carrying a pager, the lack of self awareness is astounding and has opened a lot of neutral peoples eyes.

@BelleHathor

I think many people dislike terrorists and seeing them caught out with their method of communication with other terrorists might have felt like a triumph over terrorists.

New footage from Associated Press of IDF kicking, pushing shot Palestinians off roof tops in Qabatiya, the West Bank. Not known if all were dead or alive & unconscious. IDF has said they will investigate. Even if they were all dead, under international law, soldiers are supposed to ensure dead bodies, including those of enemy combatants, are treated decently.

I saw footage of this yesterday too. It's absolutely awful and the way they just walked away so casually after kicking a dead Palestinian off the roof was so chilling.

LoremIpsumCici · 20/09/2024 10:57

Makes the allegation that they deliberately ran over a pregnant woman in labour trying to get to hospital and waving a white flag with a bulldozer in Gaza in the early months of the war more credible. There was footage of her body, and an eyewitness recounting it but not of the alleged event.
