I did not call you anti semetic

Like I said if you Google the term "holocaust inversion" you will find plenty of information which explains it well

StandingMyGround888 · 24/06/2024 21:28

It is evidently just evil. No matter who is doing it.

headstone · 24/06/2024 21:31

Netanyahu brings and others of his ilk bring up the holocaust to justify what they are doing. IMO using the holocaust to justify what Israel is doing to their occupied people is far worse. It’s absolutely chilling.

Your comment is repulsive

ssd · 24/06/2024 21:34

I googled it. I'm not any clearer. I guess its how you view things. I'm seeing it as a terrible oppression of people who can't defend themselves from brute evil. Hence my comparison. That makes sense to me. If someone reads more into it, thats their choice. If that seems antisemitic i really can't understand it but that's because to me its not.

Anyway, this seems to have stirred up a hornets nest so I'll leave it for now.

Totally agree

No. It's not how you view things. It's widely known as I keep repeating.

The fact your comprehension skills are below par is not a great excuse.

ssd · 24/06/2024 21:42

@Comedycook , stop trying to tell me what i mean then critiquing my understanding.

I've explained myself, you didn't, you just told me to use Google.

If you disagree with me that's fair enough but trying to patronise me only makes you look bad.

Not just me...like I said again and again and again.... It's widely known.

Now...you know it's widely seen as anti semetic and you are still happy for your comment to remain....

PeasfullPerson · 24/06/2024 21:47

Shame on all of us 💔

I feel very worried for all the vulnerable children in Gaza without a suitable adult to take care of them.

There is so much more sadness and cruelty beyond the death figures, there is almost too much to contemplate.

PeasfullPerson · 24/06/2024 21:48

Let’s keep this thread focused on the children in Gaza!

Quite an achievement that a group of traumatized, starved, tortured, displaced people who were aimlessly wandering through Europe trying to discover if any of their family had survived were able to form an enthnostate as you put it...or perhaps you could read up on the history.

Humdingerydoo · 24/06/2024 22:03

@ssd I know you've already been told to Google it, but you really should look up Holocaust inversion. I could do it for you and send you links but it is probably better if you choose which source to read yourself - I don't know which source you'd consider reliable enough to trust what it says. And as I think it's an important thing to understand, I'd truly urge you to look it up and find out what it means.

And now I'm once again disappearing from this board as it's not a particularly pleasant place, as evidenced by the Holocaust survivor ethnostate comment. Hopefully you'll all have reported it for it's obvious anti-Semitism, although it's been disappointing to see the lack of push-back against it.

I hope this war ends soon so the innocent people in Gaza can try to somehow start to rebuild, literally and metaphorically. They don't deserve this.

TomeTome · 24/06/2024 22:11

Trauma begets trauma.

It’s midnight in Israel and another hard night for many. It sounds like a huge number of those will be lost children probably hungry and injured. Pray for peace. Pray they find someone to help them.

pandasorous · 24/06/2024 22:17

I don't feel sad for the children that died. at least they are no longer suffering.

I feel sad for all the children with life changing injuries without access to treatment, and the ones who are starving or orphaned and alone.

and the worst thing is there is nothing we can do. if only we could get just the children out and get them to safety.

MrsSkylerWhite · 24/06/2024 21:17

How is mentioning The Holocaust anti-Semitic?

@MrsSkylerWhite you know very well that mentioning the Holocaust in this context is anti-Semitic.

keenforhelp · 25/06/2024 10:01

Extraordinary that there has been push back from the OP about the anti-Semitic Holocaust inversion that was allowed to derail the thread, not to mention an alarming lack of outrage at the (now) deleted comments.

ConnieCounter · 25/06/2024 11:28

More horrendous images of children being burned, injured and killed in their beds in tents emerging today.

I won't post them because they're too horrendous for words. There's no end in sight to this war on children. It's sickening.

Seeing more pictures of stick thin, starving children too.

I know no such thing! I’m an atheist whose only knowledge of the Holocaust is from books, documentaries and the Imperial War Museum basement.

I simply don’t understand why referencing something so terrible - that should never be forgotten by anyone - in any context is anti-Semitic. (I’m loathe to google a term I don’t know because I have no idea what will come up).

ssd · 25/06/2024 20:29

I don't understand it either and i see my post was deleted. And I've had words put in my mouth that posters who don't know me are sure i really mean....mega annoying.

I'm an atheist too and all i know about the holocaust i learned through books and my dad and FIL, both in the war, who liberated Belsen Belsen as part of the first Scottish soldiers to go in.

Anyway I'm really sorry to derail this thread as the reason for it is so important, but i take offence by being told I'm antisemitic when I'm not.

MavisPennies · 25/06/2024 20:34

This is awful. I've largely avoided the news because it's so horrible, but I understand that aid is not getting in. Is there anything a normal British person can do to help? Give more money to save the children?

But you surely also feel sad for the families of children that have died. The dead children may not be suffering any longer but they may still have parents / siblings or other relatives who will carry that grief for ever.
I'm beyond sickened at it all, shame on Israel and shame on any other Government (including our own) that have either supported the slaughter or turned a blind eye.
