FWIW, I'm Jewish disgusted by what Israel has done, but I can still be glad some hostages are going home even if the price for that has been utterly beyond what it should have been. And I'm pretty sure that price has been the lives of some of the other hostages as well.

It's also my hope, but of course it cannot be incumbent upon any of them after what they've been through, that maybe some of the hostages will speak out against what the IDF has done as that might actually be a game-changer.

Sadly there's already a Reuters article suggesting the price may well have included that. We can only hope it isn't the case, as that would be yet another tragedy in this whole mess.

Yup according to your graphic, I was expressing my shock and outrage - at what you posted about the IDF.

Edited to add a dash.

Edited

Yes it is outrageous that the IDF are bombing ,indiscriminately, areas where the hostages are, risking their lives. I share your outrage at this.

So sorry @Scirocco I hardly post or read the board now. Feel hopeless that anything will change. God bless and let's be glad some hostages at least are out of that utter hells-scape.

totallynotstressingatall · 08/06/2024 19:13

It’s a shame that people can’t discuss how wonderful it is that Noa was set free with the others with out posters coming on with whataboutery. I know it’s incredibly sad what’s happening but it’s ok to have a thread expressing delight at their release

I remember waking up that morning and seeing her screaming as she was driven away. It was horrific and I thought - ‘surely this is not real’

It was one of the reasons I came off Twitter and actually fell out with a friend as they were saying it was staged by IDF.

I honestly thought she’d never be seen again. Then i think her family started receiving phone calls of Hamas wanting money. My eldest is a festival goer and I think that’s why this young lady always stayed in my mind. I’m very glad her mother got to see her before her illness takes her. I’m also glad that physically she looks ok.

This.

Palestinian lives matter too.
As much as anyone else’s.

NecessaryNC24 · 08/06/2024 19:18

This thread is about the rescued hostages who are now thankfully reunited with their families.

If you want you can start another thread.

Nobody cared, or nobody wanted to enter the echo chamber to be told they're not being sincere enough? That's what often happens. Lots of us have stopped engaging with certain posts where it's all very one-sided because it's pointless and we don't want to piss people off by discussing things they clearly don't want to discuss and get shouted at for derailing because the conversation hasn't followed the expected script.

I only saw the thread you're talking about after you'd already decided to accuse people of not caring, so I decided not to join the discussion because I'm not I'm the mood for that kind of anger, blame and antagonism. Just like you originally chose to not come on to this thread for similar reasons.

I'm sorry to hear that you have personally been affected by recent events during this horrid war. I am also sorry that more innocent people were killed during today's mission to save four hostages. I just wish more people would at least put the blame partly at Hamas feet who kept the hostages among civilians in the first place and then started shooting at the soldiers trying to save the hostages.

BeckyAMumsnet · 08/06/2024 14:44

We are trying very hard to allow this discussion to continue, but for that to happen, we must see an end to deliberately inflammatory posts. If you are posting intending to derail the thread or rile up and upset other posters, then please take a minute to reconsider.

We'd also like to remind everyone that Antisemitism and Islamophobia are hate speech and break our guidelines. We will remove such posts when reported to us and you may find your account suspended.

Thanks,

Seriously this is not the place @Truthseeker456 . Some of the vile things you have said are really uncalled for.

As another poster said, I also no longer frequent other threads due to the attitudes of many.

The world isn't silent about it at all. It's all everyone seems to talk about. It's even reported in the Israeli news.

The only people saying some lives are worth more than others are people who put those words in other people's mouths. Have you not seen the amount of people protesting in Israel for the war to end? For negotiations to replace the war?

I also prefer to engage with people who post in good faith, which is why I avoid the vast majority of threads on this board nowadays, including the one about detainees. Too many hateful, vile posters who just mock and ridicule people and accuse them of all sorts of stuff without any basis in reality. So I avoid them and the threads they're on. I'm sure you can understand why.

ChickyBricky · 08/06/2024 20:11

Hurraaaaah! Now watch Hamas use this as propaganda to prove how kind and hospitable they've been to the hostages.

They've always known she was high value.

I can't quite imagine what her reunion with her parents must be like.

Fuck knows what they're doing/have done with the rest of those taken captive. Evil scum.

stomachamelon · 08/06/2024 20:23

@Scirocco I really don't understand why you continue to go down this line when you protested hours ago how upset it made you.

I can only think you are acting in bad faith. This is the one thing you complain about vehemently... 'support for Gaza and Palestine' thread and another where you have complained about the 'jokey and gossipy' threads.

Why would you continue to persevere down this line when the citme threads are predominantly pro pal. Does it pain you that much we have one thread of celebration? As I have said before people don't not agree with you so it would probably be better (and less aggy for you) if you wrote there rather than try to derail this continuously.

We are not all cut from the same cloth.

Bowib · 08/06/2024 20:24

💙 so glad they have been rescued and brought home, hopefully more will be soon.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 08/06/2024 20:27

Congrats to the IDF rescuing 4 hostages, one of them a young lady.
The hostages were holed up in the middle of ordinary people used as human shields. Sadly one IDF, special forces soldier lost his life leaving behind a family and loved ones

none of this needed to happen if the terrorists released the hostages they took months ago

For the deaths of the refugees in the process of releasing Israeli hostages, I blame Hamas and those that fund this vile and disgusting lot that are responsible for the deaths of thousands

stomachamelon · 08/06/2024 20:28

Agreed.

Israel rescues four hostages alive from Gaza who were captured by Hamas at Nova music festival on October 7 - including girl seen kidnapped on back of motorbike
Thisagainandagain · 08/06/2024 20:35

stomachamelon · 08/06/2024 20:28

Agreed.

Totally.

Hamas knew that there would be attempts to rescue hostages. I didn't realise so many innocents died during the rescue, that's incredibly sad. Hamas really need to go the innocent people deserve better.

PeasfullPerson · 08/06/2024 20:36

I’m sorry @Scirocco I suppose it’s easier for people to celebrate if they can ignore the suffering that was caused to other innocent people during this operation. Your pain is valid. The Israeli government and Hamas are to blame for these deaths. And whoever is to blame, and whatever the reason is for their death, somebody still lost their father-mother-child today, it won’t bring them back from the dead. It’s possible to have empathy for those who are hurting while feeling relief for those who have been reunited.

Hamas are to blame.

Oh, hold on, valid resistance etc ... Whatever.

yumyum33 · 08/06/2024 20:41

So glad. Now for all the others please. The ones Hamas haven't slaughtered.

What was done to children shown on C4. Pretty awful cost of rescue, though people have the right to celebrate it of course on this thread.
