Yes it is outrageous that the IDF are bombing ,indiscriminately, areas where the hostages are, risking their lives. I share your outrage at this.

They're not. This, for example, was a precision targeted strike. Indiscriminate bombing doesn't look like this. 🤦‍♂️

Israel rescues four hostages alive from Gaza who were captured by Hamas at Nova music festival on October 7 - including girl seen kidnapped on back of motorbike

@Scirocco What abuse? While I haven't read every post, I've seen a lot of support and compassion towards you on this thread, so I genuinely don't understand what you mean by "abuse"?

Some people are decidedly less empathic-appearing behind the scenes.

79Helene · 08/06/2024 20:48

@Scirocco Behind what scenes?

Scirocco · 08/06/2024 20:49

But that doesn't matter. While being unkind seems to have been entertaining for some people today, hopefully they've got it out their systems now and can feel happy without needing to continue it.

I'm sorry that you take all criticism of Hamas as an attack in Muslims in general. Why?

Limesodaagain · 08/06/2024 20:50

What’s the behind the scenes stuff? I feel as if I’m missing something..

Jungkooky · 08/06/2024 20:51

I don't usually come over to this board (mainly because of the kind of posts being made to deliberately derail the thread, whose demands for pity and sympathy only ever seem to be one sided whilst completely ignoring the acts of terrorists ).

But I remember the cries of that poor innocent girl being dragged off by those animals.

I'm so happy that some of the hostages have been returned, and now after this brilliant rescue mission, have faith that many more will be in the future.

I don't. I despise them. I do take personally personal attacks and messages mocking innocent people who died. Which I have received today.

It's best not to engage as this thread isn't about that poster.

It's about the hostages, the rescue mission and the Special Forces soldier who lost his life. 👍

I’m really sorry to hear that @Scirocco . Can you report the messages?
There will always be those kind of people- the ones who take pleasure in causing hurt . I think their own lives must be unhappy and empty.

Then that is awful Scirocco. You should report those messages, though as you said earlier this isn't really the thread for that discussion.

I have also reported it to MN for you, so hope it gets sorted out.

Thank you. I've perhaps responded a bit more today than usual because it has been a bit more personal than usual in some respects. But hopefully they can move on once they've had their fun. This thread shouldn't become about people's efforts to bully others though.

I don't understand why everyone on this thread is celebrating the return of 4 innocent hostage when far more than 4 innocent people were killed in order to achieve this? The maths do not add up. This sounds very much like people believe Israeli lives are worth more than Gazan lives.

Because it's not about maths. It's about evil fascism.

dontlookgottalook · 08/06/2024 21:04

Im not saying that people do not have a right to celebrate either. Of course people are relieved. But the language and tone here is so lacking in acknowledgement of the losses.

Yes, let's be kind.

Arnon Zmora sacrificed his life to save her. Massive respect.

The kidnapping of Noa was haunting, the footage of her terrified face, and holding her hands out desperately as she's stolen away. I think a lot of women identified with that. Add to that her mother is terminally ill and might have died never seeing her daughter again or knowing if she was safe. So seeing her returned to her family is remarkable after all these months.

Congrats to the IDF rescuing 4 hostages, one of them a young lady.
The hostages were holed up in the middle of ordinary people used as human shields. Sadly one IDF, special forces soldier lost his life leaving behind a family and loved ones

none of this needed to happen if the terrorists released the hostages they took months ago

For the deaths of the refugees in the process of releasing Israeli hostages, I blame Hamas and those that fund this vile and disgusting lot that are responsible for the deaths of thousands

Edited

Very well expressed indeed @DistinguishedSocialCommentator - I think you summarised the issues succinctly.

That’s exactly what people believe.

noblegiraffe · 08/06/2024 21:11

There seems to be the assumption that people glad that 4 hostages have been rescued have read past the headline.

Just a shame some commenters couldn’t help but bring their racist and anti-Muslim comments to this thread, where surely NOBODY would rather see a young woman be killed than be rescued?

Islam is a religion, not a race.

Yes it is and I also think that, as adults, we also should be able to acknowledge that the hostages' release came at a price. The hostages and Palestinian civilians are both victims in this. They are all humans.
