Doesn't he know that anyone with a brain wouldn't listen to a word he says??? I mean who the hell takes that little weasel seriously?

Comedycook · 21/05/2024 11:13

He is correct and I appreciate him speaking out

ssd · 21/05/2024 11:24

As if anyone is taking anything he says seriously.

JohnnyRememberMe · 21/05/2024 11:28

He's a twat. But he's not wrong at all.

So you don't agree with what he is saying because you think he's a weasel.

I think he is probably a member of Homo Sapiens.

I quite like politicians speaking out against anti semitism....

I mean, imagine thinking that's controversial

More often than a broken clock. He is right this time for sure. Only took a second for a weasel hater to pop up. I think they are quite cute animals.

Just Jewish people and those who are not anti-Semitic.

I don't trust a word he says on anything, why? Because he's an incompetent untrustworthy twat! And I wouldn't click on a daily mail link if you paid me.

This is the "We've had enough of experts" genius who has a solid history of leaving every area of government he touches in a worse state than it was before he started. I'll take his advice when he a) starts being competent and b) takes steps to address his own prejudices which have caused significant harm across the country.

JohnnyRememberMe · 21/05/2024 16:26

Funny how posters on here are discrediting the messenger, and ignoring the message.

Comedycook · 21/05/2024 17:06

I see it really does annoy some people when a politician speaks up about anti semitism....how depressingly predictable. Would you prefer the government to totally ignore the problem?

Comedycook · 21/05/2024 17:15

I also consider it pathetic to see posters say that because they dislike him, they are basically going to ignore the message. I'm mean, seriously...

It beggars belief doesn’t it.
I used to wonder how could it happen; now it’s happening in plain sight.

Yep, he’s right - and it’s not often that I say that about MG.

If Never Again is to mean that never again should the world stand by while innocents are unjustly slain, or while people in power abuse that power, or while potential genocides unfold, then Never Again must apply for all people.

Jewish people have been persecuted throughout history...it is quite reasonable and understandable why we would use the term never again in relation to ourselves. I have no idea why this is controversial. Other groups are more than welcome to come up with their own phrases

Comedycook · 21/05/2024 17:41

Oh and if a politician I disliked spoke out against racism or islamophobia, that wouldn't suddenly make me not care about racism or islamophobia and I would still be able to admit that those things are wrong.

I agree with him.
But I resent being lectured on ethical behaviour by a Government which actively supports war crimes.

IbisDancer · 21/05/2024 17:57

I feel Gove is playing on fears and using the not unprecedented increase in anti-Semitism caused by the ongoing war to further the agenda of restricting our rights to protest because it does come the day after the High Court overturned the Government’s new police powers law that restricts the right to protest.

He has also used his speech to whip up xenophobia and imply proPalestinian protesters are witless tools of Iran, Russia and China by saying that Iran, Russia and China are “sources and spreaders of antisemitic and anti-Israel narratives”, he said “authoritarian leaders were attempting to take advantage of “decolonisation narratives” among academics to delegitimise Israel by casting it as a racist, settler state.”

He isn’t being genuine. He is using antisemtism as an excuse to shut down protests and criticism of the Israeli government because he supports the current Israeli government.

Give the jewish and Israeli lobbies an inch and they've demonstrated they'll take a mile every time.

But there's no antisemitism on these threads, none at all. Anyone who claims there is is doing Hasbara apparently.
