The reality of forced displacement...and this has happened to some families more than 10 times. Imagine the terror. Imagine having small children or disabled or elderly family members. It's so inhumane.

Who are you calling an antisemite?

Yesterday I saw a burned baby girl being removed from an incinerated tent, next to her two other charred tiny bodies. A day or so before that I saw someone picking up the pieces of a child, starting with their tiny head which they picked up and put in a blanket. I have seen some children who look like skeletons.

If I say I think this level of senseless revenge against a whole people - 9 months of it and still going - which is neither freeing hostages nor defeating Hamas - is abhorrent, is that anti-semitism?

Do you recognise any Islamophobia in what is happening to Palestinians in Israel?

PeasfullPerson · 27/06/2024 09:52

It’s too much, not your words @ScrollingLeaves or the sharing of videos.

What the Israeli government has done, it’s too much.

AhNowTed · 28/06/2024 05:05

Yes, it is genocide

In most cases of genocide, from Bosnia to Namibia, from Rwanda to Armenia, the perpetrators of the murder said they were acting in self-defence. The fact that what is happening in Gaza does not resemble the Holocaust, writes Holocaust scholar Amos Goldberg, does not mean that it is not genocide
^
^Amos Goldberg* is a Holocaust and genocide researcher at the Hebrew University, whose book VeZcharta — And Thou Shalt Remember: Five Critical Readings in Israeli Holocaust Remembrance will be published by Resling in the coming weeks.

Just saw an update on television. Desperately sad. 250,000 people told to leave Khan Younis. People have nothing, no transport and children are having to walk for miles.

Nasser is the only functioning hospital.

Place is being bombed relentlessly.

maaamaaa · 02/07/2024 22:37

@ConnieCounter I just wonder - they have all moved so much, everything has been bombed so much, where do they go? My heart goes out to them.

Saw some horrific videos earlier of literally bodies blown apart.

Please explain why Israel is bombing Khan Younis again?

I might be wrong. I read yesterday several rockets were thrown at Israel and some made through the dome. I think I read they came from the area ?

”According to the Israel Defense Forces, the barrage of at least 20 rockets was launched from the Khan Younis area in the southern Gaza Strip, where the military had previously operated.”

https://www.timesofisrael.com/in-largest-gaza-barrage-in-months-20-rockets-launched-at-border-communities/amp/

what it’s clear is that Israel expected to destroy hamas quickly. And this is nothing like that , they abandon one area after destroying and leaving thousands of deaths behind and few weeks later there is a new hamas arm in there.

And this is who some people looked at and thought: "Yeah, I'll vote for this guy".

He actually seems proud of himself for the cruelty he has inflicted upon people in custody. And while some people may argue that criminals don't deserve nice things, it's important to consider that a) even convicted criminals have human rights, and b) many of the people he's proud of mistreating have not been convicted of anything and (under administrative detention) may not even have been charged with anything.

Sounds z reasonable explanation. Rockets from the area towards Israel indicates that Hamas operatives there. Innocent people told to move. Hamas also moves though. Like the Taleban they pop up everywhere like whackamole
Meanwhile the innocent people around them die. You could argue that if the rockets weren't fired then they wouldn't be asked to move, it's a circular argument. Hamas won't stop/Israel won't stop and people continue to die.

From Haaretz (Israeli newspaper)

  1. The New York Times reportedthat top IDF generals are interested in a "cease-fire in Gaza even if it keeps Hamas in power for the time being." Six current and former security officials said they believe that a cease-fire with Hamas would be beneficial for several Israeli objectives: releasing the Israeli hostages still held captive in Gaza, reaching a deal with Hezbollah to prevent a war on Israel's border with Lebanon, and giving the forces time to recuperate in case a war with Hezbollah does break out.
  1. In response to the report, PM Netanyahu said: "That's not happening. We will only end the war after we have achieved all of its goals, including defeating Hamas and releasing all our hostages."

NYT: Israeli Army leaders want cease-fire in Gaza, even with Hamas in power

That was my first thought too. This guy is a psychopath and clearly he has plenty of psychopaths who are willing to vote for him.

Speaking of psychos, Netanyahu has officially lost the plot and the victims of this madness are Palestinians. He's never going to defeat Hamas. He's crazy.

Yes horrific that Hamas are firing rockets from a civilian area using their people as shields .

Stop firing bloody rockets and give up the hostages

From Haaretz (Israeli newspaper)

“'Annihilation' has been made legitimate in the Israeli discourse. It's also evidence of Israel's moral decline. It should be rejected. People need to take to the streets and protest" - Adam Raz

An annihilation discourse has taken over Israel
