Conflict in the Middle East

Anyone seen the video where the police officer says a swastika is not anti-Semitic at a pro Palestine March?

I know there are lots of pro-Palestine supporters in this area of the board. If not anti-Semitic then what else is it standing for in this context? Apparently it was drawn on some protestors banners.

"People, sadly, are always dying somewhere" really does demonstrate a real depth of compassion for fellow human beings, doesn't it?

Can't believe you got MN to delete a list of the names of the children killed in Gaza

Wow. That's a special kind of heartless for someone to do that.

Of course a swastika isn't ok, nowhere have I said it is, quite the opposite. And shame on you deleting that list of names.

Shows just how much those children mattered to some people doesn't it.

Just as the names of the innocent people killed, taken hostage and injured on 7/10 should not be erased, nor should the names of the innocent people being killed and injured in Gaza, or the West Bank, for that matter.

I reported you for a post saying "fuck off with your antisemitism claims". Don't write disgusting posts if you don't want them deleted :)

His /her post responded to a post from me discussing antisemitism (on a thread about antisemitism!) with "fuck off with your antisemitism claims".

I find it interesting that you feel that's appropriate. I find it more interesting that you think it's appropriate to insult the victim for asking it to be removed.

Why is that exactly?

People are always dying somewhere. It does not make racism acceptable. Does it?

I agree.
I had already posted a list of the people killed by Hamas on on October 7th.

No, racism or antisemitism are never OK. We agree on that.
I also think it's not OK to dismiss the killing of thousands of children with hand waving 'people are always dying somewhere' this is were we differ.
And as for getting their names deleted. Wow!

@Kendodd I didn't see what specific list you posted, but here's one I found quickly. It's from January though.

Thank you!

Really didn’t want to get too involved in these threads as they lead to stress and discomfort but something @LemonyTicket said resonated with me and I had to add my voice .
i love England ; we’ve been here since 1850s which is quite early for Jewish people who generally arrived between 50-70 years later . My family are very British and have been born , educated , paid taxes and worked all their lives and passed away and been buried here .
But we are making tentative plans to leave . Never thought I’d see the day but it’s too dangerous and uncomfortable to stay in England and especially for our next generation .
During the last 6 months our local supermarket was visited by a knife man looking to kill , my daughters netball game in the park was broken up by a group of shouting girls , my elder daughter was physically attacked and is now terrified to walk the streets after dark …… All anti semitic incidents .

I am really sad to read this but I completely understand. My family came here far later than yours, in the 1950s. I am of four siblings, and all of us have masters degrees, all of us own businesses that employ others, two in the charitable sector. This has been home. But now, we no longer feel we see a future here. I do not want my grandchildren to grow up in a place like this.

My kids have experienced multiple hate crimes. Their university campuses are overrun with antisemitic rhetoric running through the very fibre of the institution, my son cannot wear his kippah, and we leave London every weekend now. We avoid eye contact on public transport. We feel the hatred deeply.

If there were a broad acceptance and consensus it had to stop and was completely unacceptable, then we would feel confidence that it was a short-term issue - but what we see is sadly a broad consensus of angry indignance that it's completely fine and we should shut up.

We get it, it has shocked us all

We are a part Jewish family. Family came here from Eastern Europe late 1800s then another branch 1920s. The branch that stayed in Poland disappeared. I think we all know what happened to them.

You came onto a thread about antisemitism, and under the post of a Jew discussing it wrote "fuck off with your claims of antisemitism" and then apparently included a link below your disgusting remark.

I frankly didn't even look at your link because I was focussed on your disgusting and completely unacceptable attack. Had I seen your link there, I still would have reported your post, because your post was still disgusting.

If you'd like to speak out on the plight of Palestinian kids, maybe you'll have more luck in spreading your message by not adding it as a footnote to a foul mouthed antisemitic attack? Just a suggestion.

Kendodd · 04/04/2024 21:52

I'm sorry for your fear and the abuse you've suffered.

I will continue to call you out if you dismiss the killing of thousands of children with 'people die all over the world' I will not be silenced by you calling me antisemitic when I do call you out.
Shame on you getting that list of children's names deleted.

@LemonyTicket
And I will always remember you as the poster who got the names of the children killed in Gaza deleted.
