Update regarding ceasefire

Update from who? Just some random on instagram or a journalist or someone who actually knows and is probably unbiased?

Similar issues in America (New York)

Not on a London march then?
This is not America.
(I recommend the book)

Evening standard article.

Sad isn't it. Jewish people targeted thousands of miles away from the war.

This comment though

'there were 4,103 incidents of anti-Jewish hate in the UK last year, a 147 per cent rise on 2022. The peak occurred in the week after October 7, suggesting that for many it was a celebration of the Hamas massacre.'

I missed my point, so not due to the current war in the ME but a peak after Hamas carried out their attacks on 7th October, that says a lot.

Pity that placard is from the "Campaign against Antisemitism".
Had never heard of them until recently but a bit of research revealed that that organisation has a clear agenda which has more to do with furthering Israel's aims, whatever they might be.
They have even been condemned I believe by Margaret Hodge.
I would recommend that anyone interested in them signs up to their mailings. It will soon become pretty clear what they are up to.

Yes, as soon as 7/10 happened, Jewish people in the UK were being targeted....before Israel had even retaliated.

If you don't believe those figures do you have accurate ones? Or are you just here to tell Jewish people you don't believe them about anti-Semitism.

My post it seems. I have absolutely no idea why it was disappeared from what I can recall of it. As i recall it was a reply to a question asked and there were no personal attacks in it at all. I do recall making clear that I think anti semitism stinks.
All very odd indeed.
Very strange.

stomachamelon · 06/03/2024 15:59

@Offwiththecircus whether they have an agenda or not is academic. The facts speak for themselves regarding antisemitism and when it started to become stratospheric.

Thank you. I didn't want to comment until I had that clarified. As someone who does attend marches, I find it utterly repulsive and rather shocking that this gentleman is claiming that the only purpose I would have to do so is in order to intimidate British Jews. The only Jews I know of are those who occasionally speak at the rallies, I don't even live near anywhere near any Jewish communities. I have no desire or reason to intimidate anyone. Why on earth have we got to the stage that any advocacy of Palestinian lives is seen as an attack on Jews?

stomachamelon · 06/03/2024 16:23

Dulra · 06/03/2024 16:47

Why on earth have we got to the stage that any advocacy of Palestinian lives is seen as an attack on Jews? @Nopoppinginplease because for many people Palestinian and Hamas are one and the same and they will never see it any other way, so any advocacy for Palestinians is viewed as support for Hamas and therefore antisemitic. Pretty shitty way to view a population currently starving to death.

Just as not all Jewish people should be held accountable and live under threat of attack because of the Israeli government. Works both ways.

I know.
I read it once then when I came back for another read,as it was interesting and not a group / organisation I had ever heard of, your post was gone.!

There was nothing wrong with it.
No personal attacks, no religious hatred….nothing. Just an explanation on the group.

Wierd
But also weird that someone would report it I think.

Shame!

It's so incredibly enraging and sad at the same time. I saw an article featuring an Israeli woman who said she thought Palestinians "were human, just like me" until 7 October and now she realized that just as the Israeli government represent Israelis (!), Hamas represent all Palestinians, and their aim is just to slay Israeli babies Hmm
It's both so sad and mind boggling that they are not seen as people in their own right, who deserve to not only live, but flourish, they are just a mere tool to intimidate British Jews.

Absolutely it does, i never said it didn't. There there is nothing to condone about the increase in antisemitism in the UK since October 7th. I was just responding to the person querying why sometimes showing support for Palestinians is viewed as antisemitic
