I know there are lots of pictures. I try to avoid looking as its just so awful but this one couldn't be avoided.

How sickening that the soldiers can smile and act so happy in front of all that destruction.

This is just another picture, from the thousands, that shows how the Palestinians and their lives and homes are seen as worthless.

To be honest I don't really mind what someone does with my underwear and that kind of behaviour is understandable in the circumstances.

Understandable? What nonsense is this?

quantumbutterfly · 24/02/2024 13:16

Yes I'm sure they were looking forward to an urban offensive against a guerilla army with catastrophic loss of life on both sides.Hmm

Hmmmmm, one side has a bit more of the 'catastrophic loss of life ' than the other as far as i can see, but don't let that small aside stop the self righteous outrage..

julili · 24/02/2024 13:19

As is seen in the photo at the beginning of this thread, some of them clearly are!

Seriously desperate to prove some point.

@Dibilnik By following a basic code of conduct which clearly many IDF soldiers are not doing, their acts are contrary to that which you think is understandable.

I've no idea why my post was deleted saying that you don't seem to understand the word "understandable" - perhaps look it up? It doesn't mean "compliant with standards."

I suspect it was reported as a personal attack. Some relatively benign posts are deleted so they look much more malign. You can ask mn if they haven't mailed to tell you.

Oh, I can't be bothered. I know how this posse operates.

Is it not obvious that the photo is fake? It doesn't even look real!

julili · 24/02/2024 13:31

Either way, it’s not out of kilter with other things the IDF have done.

Well, quite.

10UsernamesNotAvailableTryAnotherOne · 24/02/2024 13:41

It's real. The photo was taken by Tsafrir Abayov.

They’re standing in the ruins of Gaza beaming proudly and taking pictures as momento’s and you don’t think that’s bad? Triumphant yelling is beyond the pale though? Well ok…

I didn't say it wasn't bad, I said the photograph of Shani Louk was worse and I firmly believe it is. As for triumphant yelling, I note you ignore the real horror of that photo which is that a dead girl's body was being paraded as a fucking war trophy. Which is 100 times worse than fuckwit soldiers holding up underwear, another photo many of you get so exercised about. (But do I think that's wrong too, yes.)

I too am leaving this thread because once again it's degenerated into one that throws around casualty figures whilst ignoring that around 1/3 are probably Hamas. Talks about Israel rejecting hostage deals without mentioning that Hamas want thousands of prisoners, many of them murderers, released including people like the Barghouti cousins, two of the worst terrorists in the world, who would immediately start plotting further 7th Octobers. People like me are accused of bias but what is that?

Do I think the behaviour of some IDF soldiers taking selfies, is wrong? Of course I do - and it does Israel no favours ar all - but I'm fed up with people yelling about it who have never posted anything about what Hamas do, or minimise it. That is why I commented - and I wasn't even the first to do so. Obviously I'm not alone in my thinking.

How can someone's opinion be "lying"?

I think it's pretty clear who controls the narrative here. Even you call them "the regular posters."

Please don't call me a liar because I disagree with you. Please delete it.

Around one third of the people that have been killed by the IDF are men.

Hamas say 6000 the IDF say 12000 dead are Hamas. Assuming the true figures are somewhere in the middle then yes around 1/3 of the dead are Hamas.

julili · 24/02/2024 14:04

And the other two thirds are just animals, right?

You've not counted the more than 12000 dead in the rubble

Or accounted for the strange gender-profile

We are watching a war.
Each sides aim in a war is to overwhelm and/or kill their enemy. These men are still alive.

There are many more terrible things that happen in war which is why you don't start them (unless you're Putin - or it would seem hamas).

If anything good comes from this war it might be intervention in the future of Gaza by more benevolent rule than hamas- and no, I don't mean Israel.

Stop the rockets, the suicide bombs and the jihadi mindset and develop as a country, there are many city states in the world that succeed.

Look at how you have been so willing to advocate for Israeli violence over October 7. Even if we discount all the previous injustice of Israeli occupation, do you truly think any people who have been subjected to mass murder and starvation will have the appetite for peaceful leadership? They’re not going to suddenly adopt your view that Israelis are superior and worth more.

It has been made abundantly clear on many occasions that Israeli leadership will always actively work against a prosperous Gaza.

Startingagainandagain · 24/02/2024 14:11

I assume OP that you have also seen the pictures that Hamas took of themselves grinning in front of the helpless women, children and elderly people they had taken hostage?

I am not jewish and I know that Israel has done its fair share of dodgy stuff but in this case Hamas brought it all on themselves and the people of Gaza.

Ah yes, looks like I misread it (thought you said “how can anyone think this is bad” rather than “as bad”)
Sorry.

Just yesterday you were complaining about someone posting about the IDF on the hostage thread

You are now posting about 7/10 on a thread about IDF behaviour
