I know there are lots of pictures. I try to avoid looking as its just so awful but this one couldn't be avoided.

How sickening that the soldiers can smile and act so happy in front of all that destruction.

This is just another picture, from the thousands, that shows how the Palestinians and their lives and homes are seen as worthless.

Another example of what could probably be war crime

This is definitely a photo that they should keep to show their grandkids. They can look back with pride at that one time they took part in a genocide.

It’s incredibly scary to see how humans can be motivated to actively engage in the destruction of people and their homes, and then celebrate the suffering they have created.

@quantumbutterfly you are so biased in your views that it’s hard to listen to anything you have to say. While most of us have openly condemned Hamas and the Israeli government you have a very one sided view.

I do feel some empathy for the psychological distress that is likely to catch up with many of these young soldiers, who have been conscripted into the army, and then brainwashed into behaving this way. Not to say I don’t think they should be held accountable for their actions. As with all aspects of this war I think we need to understand the factors that lead to this behaviour, while not excusing an individuals responsibility. I’m sure you are one of the posters who has been very uncomfortable when we’ve tried to discuss the factors within Gaza that led up to this, again showing your bias.

Saw a photo the other day of a 16 year old boy shot by a sniper in West Bank. First bullet in the leg, second in the head as he tried to get up. It's clear that the IDF are acting with impunity.

I can’t believe some people are so naive that they still claim that returning the hostages would stop the slaughter of innocent Palestinians. Actually I don’t think anyone truly believes that.

It's not naivety. Very far from it. Every single thing about this is intentional.

quantumbutterfly · 24/02/2024 11:52

Efacsen · 24/02/2024 11:31

You think I don't care about the innocent lives lost in Gaza because I won't beat the Israeli's with the stick that you've found.

It's not a stick that anyones found - it's widely acknowledged to be wrong including by the IDF themselves

So why do you continue to defend it?

No it's not a stick it's a photo being held up as representative of the IDF, who have condemned it.
They are silly, thoughtless girls in a snapshot in time, do they regret it now? Who knows?

Fussandmisery · 24/02/2024 11:53

Parkingt111 · 24/02/2024 11:30

I don't believe that all IDF soldiers would think the same and act the same. But when members do act in a manner that is wrong, then why can't it just be called out as wrong, rather than excused.

This.

Can anyone explain the IDF's obsession with the underwear of Palestinian women they've displaced/maimed/murdered?

I've genuinely lost count of the number of pictures and videos I've seen of them messing around with women's underwear, thinking they're hilarious when they obviously are just twats.

Yes! I've seen the disgusting TikToks some Israelis make. Horrible stuff. 😫

It's not quite as horrible as, say, just as an example, using someone's mobile phone to contact their family and friends so that they can watch him bleed to death when they cut off his genitals and stuff them in his mouth?

Just saw one on Twitter from q French - Israel guy when trying to find a tweet I agreed with related with this topic I can’t find it now tho I know I posted it in one of the thread
it said that they’re trying to undermine them and also they regard Muslim women like something forbidden that they want to touch/ have sex with.

Always 'interesting' when posters go off topic and post such extreme stuff

Feels somehow very disrespectful to those poor peoples suffering using it as ammunition in an online disagreement

Parkingt111 · 24/02/2024 12:14

@Dibilnik atleast you were honest that you think the vile stuff the IDF post of the humiliation of forcibly displaced Palestinian women is 'understandable' in your view.

Fair play to you that you wouldn't mind. Maybe those who are being blown to bits and starved to death are just over reacting.

Well, apparently the whole war is an overreaction, although I'm not sure what you'd do if you were Israeli.

What's off topic about it? It's the reason they're there. And it's hardly my fault that it's so extreme. What do you consider an appropriate response to "such extreme stuff"? Because this is only a tiny fraction of the atrocities.

he vile stuff the IDF post of the humiliation of forcibly displaced Palestinian women is 'understandable' in your view.
How do you think soldiers usually behave in wars? With gallantry?

jannier · 24/02/2024 12:58

julili · 23/02/2024 23:41

What Israel is doing is much worse than what Hamas did. That really shouldn’t be a controversial statement.

Do you not think that Hamas knew exactly what Israel would do so engineered a brutal war to try and get what they wanted? Hamas don't care about the innocent deaths it feeds their cause.

ssd · 24/02/2024 13:05

I dont believe anyone knew what Israels response would be like, but ive never believed the hamas attack was just a random out of the blue thing. How a country like Israel had no idea that would happen, even when its own soldiers were reporting unusual activity at the border in the lead up to the attack, but were ignored...the hamas attack feels very convenient for Israel, allowing it to obliterate gaza with the justification 'but hamas'....

I think some day we'll know more about the actual facts rather than the spin of this war....meanwhile thousands dead and lives destroyed

Parkingt111 · 24/02/2024 13:07

@Dibilnik By following a basic code of conduct which clearly many IDF soldiers are not doing, their acts are contrary to that which you think is understandable.

Erm, are you seriously suggesting that Israel staged 7 October itself, just to have an excuse to attack Gaza? Don't you think years of being constantly shelled by Gaza would have been excuse enough?

I can't believe you have used the word "convenient" to describe this catastrophic, horrifying, obscenely sadistic pogrom.

The only reason I'm not reporting your post is so that you can publicly disgrace yourself here.

I think they’re taking full advantage of it to do exactly what they’d wanted to do some quite some while.

julili · 24/02/2024 13:13

Yes I'm sure they were looking forward to an urban offensive against a guerilla army with catastrophic loss of life on both sides.Hmm
