I know there are lots of pictures. I try to avoid looking as its just so awful but this one couldn't be avoided.

How sickening that the soldiers can smile and act so happy in front of all that destruction.

This is just another picture, from the thousands, that shows how the Palestinians and their lives and homes are seen as worthless.

Am I the culprit of making things worse for seeing things in social media. Or are the ones taking the pics that shouldn’t be taking in the first place making the things worse?

being at war as far as I know doesn’t mean taking a picture next to the person that they’ve just detained , that they might kill or torture. That’s not being at war and I believe it’s an against the Geneva convention. I’m happy for you to focus yourself on music , others might prefer doing other things

Haha brilliant! you do you. You clearly enjoy it, and who am I to stop you?!

PeasfullPerson · 13/03/2024 21:41

@Dibilnik it seems that if you real goal is to shut down this discussion, that you are ironically having the opposite impact by continuing to post on here. That you are berating people for being upset about something it is normal to be upset about, is actually generating more responses.
Do you have any empathy for the people who are still in Gaza, and the people who have lost loved ones, who will see images like this, of people smiling among the death and destruction of a place they called home? Or is all your empathy reserved for Israel?

This makes me despair.

Nobody can defend this or give a context that makes this OK. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to try. And I'm equally sure that if the 'sides' were reversed in this picture they would be as disgusted as I am. Because I would be disgusted by that image too. Because I don't have the double standards that are so terrifying from some posters.

We are seeing war crimes documented in real time online. Crimes against humanity. Yet some people attempt to excuse them. It's unthinkable. I can't believe I'm seeing it.

Israeli soldiers are posting videos of themselves torturing Palestinians from Gaza.

Legal expert @luigidaniele10 says Israel’s tacit support of this abuse is an “existential threat to the international legal system.”

there is a video from this legal expert giving their opinion about idfs behaviour , documenting and posting what they’re currently doing in Gaza

They've been pretty quiet recently.

Hmm. Maybe it's not just what happens in "war" after all.

They have, indeed. I wonder why...

From Haaretz newspaper March 24(my bolding).'We're Not Only Here to Fuck Hamas': How Israeli Militarism Took Over OnlineDatingWhy are Israeli soldiers uploading photos of themselves inside Gazan homes or with Palestinian detainees to their dating profiles?Beyond the 'uniform effect' which turned U.S. firefighters into heroes after September 11, some experts say the violent militarism seen on dating apps is leading to disturbing trends in Israeli society – online and off
The October 7 Hamas attack and the ongoing Gaza war changed most aspects of living in Israel, and online dating has been no exception. Swiping singles on dating apps are being inundated with profiles of men in olive green brandishing loaded guns, often standing in front of mushroom clouds from Israeli strikes or the rubble of destroyed buildings.

Given the glamorisation of military service in Israel, and the way social media has been utilised, I am not surprised by this stupidity. I fear for Israeli society.
Is there any more information? It says I need to subscribe to read the article.

Unfortunately not.

I only get a feed with these first paragraphs. Otherwise you need to subscribe. I have considered it but am worried someone paying from the U.K. might have Mossad looking at them, though I did give an email address to receive what news I do.

Why would Mossad give a shit if some random person in the UK was subscribed to a major newspaper? 😂

Anyway, try this. Hopefully clicking it won't cause a Mossad agent to come and assassinate you or whatever.

What a nasty, vicious thing to say to another poster here.

I have already had trouble with interference on my email via the USA.

No thanks to you for the sarcasm.

Not long time ago I read some posters that they would only connect to mn via vpns and would name change in mn every week for fears as well. I can’t recall such nasty replies to these posters.

Because they were scared a foreign intelligence agency would come after them? Why?

It's like someone in France saying they don't want to subscribe to the Guardian in case they attract the attention on MI5. Its ridiculous.

No idea whether that was the reason. They said they feared to be identified hence why they’d only connect via international vpns

PeasfullPerson · 29/03/2024 09:19

I find it hard to listen to anybody who resorts to such nastiness and name calling.

The internet is never truly private and it is good to remember that.
