@inkworks273 well you clearly do. Are you conflating things?

I was literally talking about marching and the people convicted under the terrorism act in the uk today

Anything to add on that?

The only thing I'd like to add is that I find it completely flabbergasting how much time people spend in these type of threads wringing their hands about a few people holding signs but when it comes to Israel literally murdering children they have no fucks to give.

In what world does being against the murder of children make you smug and sanctimonious?

If calling out people who support the entity that is murdering children makes you smug and sanctimonious then I'll wear that tag with pride.

It's the rushing in to tell everyone that you, personally are against the murder of children unlike the people you are barging in on who in your opinion are absolutely in favour of the murder of children, and therefore you are better than them.

It's particularly obvious seeing as people were discussing some people who had been charged with supporting terrorism (i.e. supporting people who had murdered children).

As you are very vocally against the murder of children, you really should have been rushing in to say 'I agree, glad they've been charged, how awful to support that sort of thing'. Not rushing in to say "gosh I'm so much better than you" on the basis of made up bullshit.

More "I'm better than you"-ing.

@inkworks273 I was about to write the same thing. I don’t believe those badges were appropriate and action needed to be taken. But at the same time there are people who think it’s absolutely Ok for mostly men in another part of the world to kill innocent children. This is what bothers me the most.

More "aren't we wonderful"

Serious virtue-signalling vibes. Get a room.

Do I think I'm better than people who shill for Israel? You're goddamn right I do.

So discussing how some people have been charged in London for supporting terrorism is 'shilling for Israel'. How?

I wonder if OP would consider changing the title of this thread? I have to say it is rather inflammatory and does seem to attract negative comments. That it is also filled with comments where people are called names doesn’t really help. Perhaps if the title was changed it might attract more serious discussions and set a different tone. Unless the consensus is that the title thread is true?

noblegiraffe · 13/02/2024 22:09

Perhaps if people weren't so willing to accuse others of supporting genocide or shilling for Israel on the basis that they think antisemitism in England is bad there wouldn't be such an issue.

This sort of shit happens any time antisemitism is discussed. It was on the Rochdale thread last night too.

Me? Well that steaming pile of bollocks accusation just clearly demonstrates that you don't have the first clue of what you're talking about.

Dear god.

You could always not click on the thread if you hate it so much. In fact I'm sure a lot of people would be glad if you didn't.

By the way, what other mumsnet threads do you go on to lecture them about how they should be talking about how bad Israel is?

@noblegiraffe So you don't support Israel then? Apologies if I was wrong about that.

@inkworks273 and you have made your point.

I've condemned the actions of Israel quite a few times and yet you seem to think I 'shill for Israel on every thread I'm on' on the basis of the fact that I post about and against antisemitism.

Perhaps you should consider why you would think that someone who posts against antisemitism must be a shill for Israel instead of just a normal human being who opposes racism and is concerned about its proliferation on the streets of England and on MN.

Perhaps your black and white worldview is incredibly stupid.

noblegiraffe · 13/02/2024 22:38

It is such a fucking purity spiral that you cannot have any sort of conversation about anything even tangentially related to the war in Gaza without having to performatively announce that you REALLY HATE THE MURDER OF CHILDREN every fucking time you say anything or fuckwits will pop up with

'So you think it's fine to murder children then. Personally I'm against that <preen>'.

Fucksake.

25milesfromhome · 13/02/2024 22:39

It’s funny how any attempt to have a serious discussion about antisemitism currently being displayed and endorsed in this country is always derailed by attempts to change the subject, followed by the imposition of imaginary moral judgements and then inevitably devolving into “You just looooove Israel, you morally depraved baby killers!!”
What compels a person to crash into a conversation about antisemitism to do this?
The only inflammatory thing on this thread is the accusatory rhetoric used by some posters to insult and create division.

I don't understand, are you upset because people care about things other than just Gaza? Are people not allowed to care about more than one thing? Are we only allowed to care about things that you have personally decided are acceptable? And if not, who is it we turn to find out what we're allowed to care about?

Is a Muslim also not allowed to care about the recent rapid increase in Islamophobia?

noblegiraffe · 13/02/2024 22:41

Yes, this

Next there will be another along and they'll talk among themselves about the depravity of posters keeping on topic. 🤷🏻‍♀️
