Just a reminder of how the Brighton Palestine Solidarity Campaign behaved / what they said the day after the pogrom

We went to London’s recent anti-Israel march to once again interview attendees.

This time, there was too much footage to put in one video.

So we made three. Here is the first.

The following footage was all filmed on 13th January."

I think it would be interesting to ask them exactly what they think a Zionist is?

The world domination stuff is just clearly New World Order conspiracy theory - have they replaced New World Order with Zionist?

Trulywonderful · 18/01/2024 01:18

You see that was why I asked a few weeks ago about the new world order stuff

I keep hearing it and seeing mentioned on social media or at protests

noblegiraffe · 18/01/2024 07:38

Them: Adventures with Extremists by Jon Ronson is a good intro to the idea of the New World Order. He goes and hangs out with various extremists and finds that most of them believe the world is being controlled by a small group of people. Then he also finds out most of them think it's the Jews.

At one point he is out collecting money with Omar Bakri Muhammad. He is then left in charge of the money which is to be sent to Hamas and Hezbollah (Ronson is Jewish). That was written just pre 9/11 and that chapter reads very differently now.

A couple of things to note about that video:

*Malcom X apologised to the Jewish community before he dead. He said the brotherhood had brainwashed him for years and he regretted ever getting involved with them

*The bloke said he has Jewish friends and they disagree with the Israeli government. Don't most Jewish people, however it doesn't mean we think Hamas are freedom fighters or that Israeli should be dismantled. Anyway does anyone believe that bloke actually knows any Jewish people 😁

noblegiraffe · 18/01/2024 20:10

There is definite confusion between 'support Israel's right to exist' and 'support the Israeli government' isn't there?

Trulywonderful · 18/01/2024 20:11

She is right and we can all help fight the second war

There are so many holes in the justifying arguements of useful idiots that it helps conflicting information to pour through like a sieve.

Mad that this being said so openly and proudly now.

"Does that mean that 80% of British Jews are filthy animals"?

"I would say that..it's my personal opinion".

That video was particularly grim and nasty wasn't it.

Yet apparently people don't think this stuff and we are just making it up

Go figure

0palfrootee · 21/01/2024 08:00

Those videos are awful. I just watched all 3 of the full versions with my heart racing. Just unbelievable and so upsetting to see those views expressed in this country.

On a lighter note, I feel that the man waving his Aldi watermelon bag for life in protest, and the cow's milk Holocaust man, deserve a special mention for bringing a touch of unintentional comedy to it all.

0palfrootee · 21/01/2024 08:03

And how could I forget "I feel Zionism is rooted in Christianity" 🤯

Humdingerydoo · 21/01/2024 08:12

I just don't understand why you would willingly march alongside some of these people. If there was another march against antisemitism and I knew for certain a group of islamophobic twerps would be there and wouldn't be told to leave, I wouldn't go to the march. I wouldn't want to be associated with people who hold those opinions. Surely by now everyone knows it's a guarantee that these big marches will include antisemites, so why aren't they taking a stand against it? Your enemies enemies are not your friends. Don't pretend like they are.

0palfrootee · 21/01/2024 08:15

I know. They might be a minority but everything I see suggests that they are a fairly sizeable majority. This is not a small handful of extremists.

That reporter is great btw. Really skilled in the way he interviews them.

quantumbutterfly · 21/01/2024 08:21

It's horrific. These threads are so demoralising, I'm not Jewish but nonetheless to see people in the UK voicing this stuff saps my spirit too.
We have to stop sleepwalking,
All I want to say on these threads now is BRING THE HOSTAGES HOME and reject hamas and their extremist ilk.

0palfrootee · 21/01/2024 08:03

And how could I forget "I feel Zionism is rooted in Christianity" 🤯

A poster on another thread last night tried pulling the 'I meant Christianity actually' schtick - another tactic where they think they're concealing their blatant prejudice against Jews, but the contorting required to get to that point was quite funny to watch.

PeasfullPerson · 21/01/2024 10:36

The majority of people are marching because they feel absolutely appalled by our governments support for the killing and injuring of innocent civilians in Gaza, and the infrastructure needed to support life. I don’t know why that’s so hard to understand.
People aren’t going to stop marching for this because a minority are using it as an opportunity to shout about their antisemetic views. It is appalling that somebody feels comfortable openly expressing such hideous prejudice. It’s people like this who are the problem, not the majority of people marching. I’m sorry this is making Jewish people feel unsafe. What do you think the solution is?

0palfrootee · 21/01/2024 10:40

I really don't want to sound rude but I feel this question has been answered multiple times on this thread and the previous one. It really feels like we come full circle over and over again. The short answer is, don't march along antisemites and/ or challenge antisemitic placards and utterances when you encounter them. The long answer can be found earlier on this thread.

Also, it is becoming apparent that these views are not held by a tiny minority of extremists and nutters.

Edited to say I meant to quote @PeasfullPerson 's most recent post.
