@Trulywonderful any news on that awful man who gave that speech on Saturday?

Did Jeremy Corbyn do a speech on Saturday then? 😁

Sorry sto I realise we are a derailing the thread and will stop that now. I take it this is your polite hint. Next time do Giraffe and go angry bird on us😂

Give me a minute and I will get back about the Andrew Tate of Hamas supporters

London police were called to a pro-Palestine demonstration on Saturday after a speaker issued a call to “normalise massacres”.

El-Kurd later responded to backlash about his statement regarding the normalization of massacres on X, writing that he “would never say that.”
“I was clearly saying we shouldn’t be complacent, we shouldn’t normalize massacres,” he wrote. “Willfully distorting my words is an indication of your own bankruptcy. I’m allowed to misspeak. Also: idagf. Call the police! Write a Yelp review".

“Officers are aware of the remarks, the commentary surrounding them, and the subsequent statements issued by the speaker,” Metropolitan Police said. “They are assessing the matter and as part of that assessment will be seeking to speak to the individual concerned.”

The police say they will update the public on this matter in due time.

Despite claiming that he misspoke in that one instance, videos posted online show el-Kurd’s speech also directly called for Zionism to be extinguished from the world.

“Zionism is apartheid, it’s genocide, it’s murder, it’s a racist ideology rooted in settler expansion and racial domination, and we must root it out of the world,” el-Kurd said.

He continued: “We must de-Zionise because Zionism is a death cult, Zionism is indefensible.”

The thing is even if you believe he misspoke there is all the Zionist stuff. That was hate speech 100%. He literally wants me kicked out of my job. He said that institutions should be de-zionised plus how does he suggest Zionism is rooted out? I mean he normally talks about resistance fighters and supporters violent acts.

Personally I think he just said the normalise massacres thing because that is what he actually thinks by mistake. So rather than an error it is more like he slipped up

Can't actually remember if this has been posted on this thread yet but it is from yesterday

Videos of the march show children inside Sloan Kettering watching from windows as protesters scream “shame” at them.

“Make sure they hear you; they’re in the windows,” a female organizer of the protest said.

I agree. And tbh he could have an already prepared argument- a misspeak- so that he can get away with saying something like that. It fits in with his rhetoric which wasn't about peace and reconciliation.

I really hope he doesn't get away with it. At the very least I hope his visa to speak is looked carefully at (if he is visiting)

The question has to be aswhy they would have him speak in the first place. His history online alone is very dodgy and he doesn't exactly get the marches away from the label of hate marches.

The same goes for Jeremy Corbyn who whether you believe is antisemitic or not has a reputation that is iffy. Plus all his terrorist friends etc.

Then there are people like Lowlife that are basically a poor man's Kanye west when it come to his comments about Jews or anything Jewish.

Frankly if organisers want support from the general public rather than stories in the daily mail or negativity on twitter they have a funny way of showing it. I am at the point now where the pure ridiculousness of anyone complaining about negative news stories of the marches is beyond me. If the organisers were bothered about negative stories they would actually sort out several of the issues raised on these threads.

@Trulywonderful I had a poster on another thread swear blind that low-key was just a misunderstood rapper and there was no evidence of antisemitism :/

Hokey Dokey then

We have said it many times on antisemitism threads but some people won't see or at least won't admit Jew hate unless it is a person in a nazi uniform literally saying "I want to kill Jews".

Look at all the old Soviet and Nazi propaganda we have seen in the last few months with the word Jew replaced by Zionist. This is simply to get around mumsnet deleting posts and on marches the staying within the law. Every educated and logical person understands this. I think even most the deniers do too, they just are trying to pretend they don't.

People like Lowlife totally understand what they are doing and just play with wording. He is a nasty smug individual that should not be platformed by anyone. If you want people to take a cause seriously as not having a Jew hate element invite people to speak that don't come with all that bad reputation. It really isn't a difficult thing to change.

Trulywonderful · 17/01/2024 11:11

Lowkey lyrics include things like “nothing is more anti-Semitic than Zionism”

That is pretty nasty comment by most decent people's standards. You take something that is part of Judaism and has been for hundreds of years. Then you claim it is Jew hate.

According to Lowkey, “it’s the Zionists that are the antisemite because it’s the Palestinians that are Semitic people.” As a “student of history,” he seems strangely uneducated. The term antisemitism was coined by German antisemite Wilhem Marr and popularised by the Nazis, who used it to make hatred of Jews sound scientific. Rather than referring to a people, Semitic refers to a language group. The majority of Arabic people are Hamites.

The Lowlife has some interesting friends too.

"A spokesman for Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) noted that Lowkey had “repeatedly associated” with Chris Williamson - who lost the Labour whip for claiming the party was “too apologetic” over antisemitism - and Professor David Miller, sacked by the University of Bristol after a string of alleged antisemitic comments.

The CAA spokesman said: “Whether despite or because of this inflammatory record, Lowkey has drawn praise from none other than Jeremy Corbyn for the ‘good messages you carry’."

There are several songs in his catalogue that contain Holocaust trivialization and antisemitic tropes

Lowkey denies that Israel has a right to exist, which is regarded as a contemporary form of antisemitism. Does he deny the right to a country to any other ethnic group? Possibly Pakistan or India, who were both created at the same time as Israel, and have strained ties and are at war in Kashmir.

Lots of other ranting about anything related to Israel and various conspiracy theorist stuff about Jews. Some of his old twitter rants were quite delightful as you can probably imagine. I can provide more information or evidence that he is a totally vile fuckwit but that is a waste of time. Those that don't see it in whI have provided so far will never see or admit it anyway

This. He's been hiding in plain sight for years now

Trulywonderful · 17/01/2024 11:36

Not sure about the hiding

More like dancing about and waving it in people's faces

Trulywonderful · 17/01/2024 11:43

I have just heard that a person sought by police was subsequently arrested on Sunday, 14 January when vigilant Met police officers spotted him amongst those taking part in a protest against the counter-terrorism arrests outside a west-London police station

This is not only good police work but how stupid was this bloke. There were imagines of him with police asking people to identify him going around the Internet at one point. Yet the idiot decides to join a protest outside a police station. Seriously you couldn't make that up😂

Well at least in this image he has his clothes on, unlike those horrific calendars.

Never nice to see his iffy face but I don't get the urge to bleach my eyeballs this time

You know, this also more generally sums up the absolute idiocy of the 'thank you Houthis' brigade.

That Zionist Death Cult guy telling Robert Jenrick to suck his dick has similar vibes.

"Pro-Palestinian accounts posted the address of a Jewish youth charity that helps vulnerable boys and now a bunch of balaclava wearing men have turned up. The event they’re supposedly protesting doesn’t even start until later tonight. Pure harassment."

Trulywonderful · 17/01/2024 15:59

The police can for starters request an order for them to legally remove masks or balaclavas

After that I am guessing most will bugger off because they obviously don't want their faces shown to the world or to be identified by the police

Total fuckwits behaviour to say the least

“This week, this newspaper was alerted to the fact that a Victoria, B.C., organization was distributing thousands of dollars to anti-Israel protestors. The Plenty Collective, as it calls itself, created what it called a “Solidarity Fund” for Victoria-area “folks or groups” to pay for “costs related to supporting or organizing actions in solidarity with Palestine and Palestinian people.”

Said the Plenty Collective: “This fund is to help cover costs incurred when organizing or participating in local actions. This can include, but is not limited to, the costs of lost wages, supplies, items for fundraising, paying speakers, etc.”

I know I don’t agree with a lot of views that many posters on this thread have shared (and that you don’t agree with me!), but I am sorry that you are experiencing a rise in antisemitism. It must be scary. There is clearly an unsavoury minority who are stirring up trouble for Jewish people. They are doing all of us a disservice, and making us even more divided.
