Oh for goodness sake just look at the blatant fuckwittery of that

For once I am lost for words

Coyoacan · 02/01/2024 17:18

Putting a bit of vandalism on the wall of a big corporation on a par with the carpet-bombing of women and children and calling any protest against the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Gaza anti-semitic is not helping your cause.

We are all humans and all three Abraham faiths oppose murder, and carpet-bombing civilians is not war, it is murder. Fortunately lots of Jews are making known that Netanyahu does not represent them.

noblegiraffe · 02/01/2024 17:31

Who has said that vandalism is on a par with bombing?

So lets break this down:

*Putting Giraffiti on a building with next to Starbucks, which the protesters are only protesting because employees were disciplined. They were discipline for posting using the company logo an image using a photo of the fence being bulldozed during the pogrom on the 7th October

*The Buildings are in an area of London that has a large population of Jewish customers

*You use the good/bad Jews argument

*You are trying to say the above is not antisemitism

Frankly I don't think you could see or would admit antisemitism if it smacked you in the face. The fact you behave in this manner means you really do not understand what the people of the book have in common in this day and age at all.

Like clockwork. No discussion of antisemitism allowed without the requisite minimisation, deflection, tokenism and tropes. This has it all.

Giraffiti

Grin

It wasn't just an image of the bulldozer breaking the fence, it was a post celebrating the breaking of the fence, by what was described as the 'Gaza Resistance'.

That's not why I said it was dodgy. I have forwarded the information to Mumsnet including the articles attached to it.

Watch this for the inability to answer a question? www.reddit.com/r/Israel/s/wLug1xbE3n

They are For Hamas and Hezbolah. The Muslim society at that particular institution. He is a Jew and they support Hellbolah aim to hunt diwn and kill. Evil.

Trulywonderful · 02/01/2024 18:14

True

It was a quick reply from myself that did not include much detail. I just wanted to remind anyone reading why the protesters are boycotting Starbucks and why that is an iffy reason that is about Jew hate or at the least thinking the pogrom was something to celebrate

Unfortunately I believe the poster in question won't admit they are wrong or even spend any time thinking reflecting on the points I have made. However I responded as I often do for the benefit of others reading. It is important sometimes that we explain why something is antisemitism rather than just criticism of Israel. A point I believe you totally understood Giraffe. You know what with you being Jewish and everything 😁

(She isn't and that was a Joke because people keep assuming she is Jewish. After all as far as some are concerned it is only Jewish posters that talk about antisemitism. You know what with us apparently crying antisemitismat everything)

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 18:30

I think we have all seen language or behaviour from some protesters that would not have got excused or ignored back in August by some that are now apologists for it.

Yes sto I think you are right this could get a lot worse and this is why I feel it needs to be called out by everyone and stamped out now. There is a tipping point with these things where after a point it is nearly impossible to stop. We are not there yet in the UK but we have been slowly getting there. The more we accept this type of behaviour the closer we get.

Edited

I will never tolerate anti-semitism in my presence. but you are more concerned with controlling others speech than in bringing influence to bear to stop the genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Fortunately there are large numbers of Jews who also protest about that

Again with the good/bad Jew stuff

Listen just say what you believe not that some Jewish people have different opinions to others. Have you never heard of two Jews three opinions. Trust me Jewish people are just like everyone else and have different views on things. You don't need to keep using it to try and score points in a game only you are playing

Also you have absolutely no idea about my opinion of the conflict because you assume and don't ask. I have given my opinion on the conflict, civilian deaths and much else both on this thread and elsewhere. It definitely has more compassion for everyone involved than your own from what I have seen you post.

We are trying to keep threads roughly and it is very roughly within the topic they are supposed to be. If that is controlling to you then so be it. To most of us it just makes sense and is standard practice across all of mumsnet.

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 19:13

@Trulywonderful ah the old 'divide and conquer' good Jew/ bad Jew argument.

Also, two questions: what does “in bringing influence to bear”(that you seem to link to Jews protesting) mean? Are you suggesting it’s the responsibility of Jews marching/not marching in the UK to use their “influence” to stop what you consider to be a genocide?

And is it reasonable to expect Jews to put aside their own perceptions of intimidation, to engage with groups who might wish them harm, in order to win approval for using their “influence”?

Coyoacan · 03/01/2024 00:08

25milesfromhome

You do you. I don't know whether or not you are Jewish and could care less.

I don’t know what that has to do with the questions I asked you, on the topic of the thread.

They were:

What does “in bringing influence to bear”(that you seem to link to Jews protesting) mean? Are you suggesting it’s the responsibility of Jews marching/not marching in the UK to use their “influence” to stop what you consider to be a genocide?

And is it reasonable to expect Jews to put aside their own perceptions of intimidation, to engage with groups who might wish them harm, in order to win approval for using their “influence”?

See if you can answer without using the words genocide or ethnic cleansing.

Trulywonderful · 03/01/2024 00:26

I am literally turning my head sideways trying to work out why that statement about not caring less was made

Nothing in 25miles post meant that comment was needed

Therefore I can only conclude unless there is something else I don't know, that it was made because someone indeed could very much care if 25miles is a Jewish person

I could have that wrong but I am baffled as to why if not that to be honest

stomachameleon · 03/01/2024 10:33

@Trulywonderful the fact they haven't rushed back to correct your assumption would lead me to believe you are probably right.

"Almost half of British Jews have considered leaving the UK due to antisemitism since 7th October, according to our latest polling, and sinister propaganda such as this only emboldens those who hate Jews".
