@Parkingt111 thanks for that. If it comes from you maybe some will listen.
It so rubbish as since 7/10 there have been regular protests. There are lots that don't agree with what's happening. That was confirmed in the AMA. Not just hostage families.
But don't let fact and lived experience get in the way of your lazy narrative that all Israelis are bad people.

@noblegiraffe there is a repetition of theme
And source and I have reported it. Across several threads.

I have seen several pro pal ' we aren't free until they are all free' posts this morning online. Never mentions the hostages does it? Or the ones being held before 7/10. Ironic.

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 11:52

@Thereissomelight what's 'enough' for you?

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 11:54

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 11:52

@Thereissomelight what's 'enough' for you?

When the government is ousted and more moderate people are in power who don’t kill thousands of children, inflame tensions and potentially drag us all into a world war.

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 11:55

And who don’t constantly stoke tension by expanding illegal settlements.

Parkingt111 · 02/01/2024 11:59

@stomachamaleon from what i have read and seen it is amazing how diverse israeli society is in regards to the political spectrum.
The problem is that MSM only amplifies the extreme ones and ofcourse it's not helping at all with some members of the current government who seem to be determined to make headlines for all the wrong reasons

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 12:00

Yeah I get it. Nice quiet Jews who know their place.

Another example of something that is not widely approved or liked in Israel. The settler situation.

Fact again not fitting your narrative.

setsu · 02/01/2024 12:01

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 11:20

I wasn’t posting “utter rubbish” unfortunately. Amongst the 9 million people in Israel there are, as you say, some beginning to speak out against this gratuitously racist and violent and criminal government (displaying such behaviours long before Oct 7) but so far nowhere near enough. But hopefully more will begin to do so.

What percentage of thr Israeli population have to be Good Jews for it to be acceptable to you?

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 12:03

@Parkingt111 yes of course and I think the AMA showed that. There is plenty going on there but it's not good media fodder is if? I could list all the parties, candidates and where they 'lie' when the election comes up but it's unlikely (given events) that the current state of affairs will continue.

Smotrich can say what he likes but in reality it very unlikely to be more than hot air. He is not well thought of. And I don't need to educate you on Netanyahu's polling at the mo!

@RedJumper13 and that's the second time you have done that. Posted dodgy content. Will be reporting etc

The girl was on a US website campaigning for Palestinian rights, I get that you may not like or agree with it, but I don’t see how you call it dodgy ?

It’s not dodgy because you don’t agree with it.

noblegiraffe · 02/01/2024 12:06

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 11:44

@noblegiraffe No. Do you see Israel’s actions (killing thousands of innocent children) as “justice” for the prior actions of Hamas?

I already said what they are doing is abhorrent.

But you agree that they had to take action against Hamas to bring the perpetrators of the horrendous 7th October attack to justice. What should that have looked like?

You also hope that Netanyahu is overthrown. Presumably you also want Hamas overthrown. How would you like that to happen?

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 12:13

That's not why I said it was dodgy. I have forwarded the information to Mumsnet including the articles attached to it.

I'm not an expert so I have no idea what it should have looked like. Perhaps sending in elite special forces teams?

But given that Hamas deliberately hide as civilians among civilian infrastructure even that would have been tricky, particularly if the brief was to destroy Hamas bases as well as take out Hamas terrorists.

As I said, I think what Israel are doing in Gaza is abhorrent but that it is also incredibly easy to make facile TikTok videos about violence breeding violence without any sort of real thought as to what happened on October 7th. One gets the impression that they think Israel should have just sucked it up.

Bloody hellfire

Trulywonderful · 02/01/2024 14:28

At protest "Go back to Europe"

Seriously wrong on a racism, historical and Israeli demographic way

These people are so offensive and uneducated it just isn't funny. They are are a disgrace to any real peace protesters or group

"On only the second day of 2024, we are already seeing intimidatory anti-Israel vandalism in London.

On the left in black, a Star of David. On the right in red, “9000 children killed”.

Spotted next to Starbucks at 3 Circus Road in St John’s Wood, an area with a sizeable Jewish community."

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 14:47

Actions speak louder than words.
So there may be some opposition to Netanyahu’s government - but the bottom line is, it’s not enough because the mass child-killing and the settler violence continue.

Trulywonderful · 02/01/2024 14:58

Always with the same ending

Sometimes I just wish posters would change it up a little

Also I think by now everyone is quite clear of the situation and it would probably be good to just get on with the thread. Else maybe ask mumsnet to change the title of the thread

Apparently mumsnet is so quite at the moment those that can only talk about one topic at a time have popped on here to find people to argue with

Any chance of talking about the protesters that want people to go back to Europe?

Or

The building that protesters graffiti in a Jewish area of London?

Any chance at all of getting back on topic and not having the same but... added to almost every post?

quantumbutterfly · 02/01/2024 15:00

there is some gaslight

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 15:13

Maybe they are just best ignored... I do that with a couple of the obvious mate variety that post nonsense.

@Trulywonderful both those examples are horrifying and show the true extent of the rise of antisemitism. And it's general acceptability with those on the left.

I feel it's only going to get worse.

Trulywonderful · 02/01/2024 15:32

I think we have all seen language or behaviour from some protesters that would not have got excused or ignored back in August by some that are now apologists for it.

Yes sto I think you are right this could get a lot worse and this is why I feel it needs to be called out by everyone and stamped out now. There is a tipping point with these things where after a point it is nearly impossible to stop. We are not there yet in the UK but we have been slowly getting there. The more we accept this type of behaviour the closer we get.

This isn't protesting this is at best cross play and at worse intimation tactics

Israel's frenzied revenge attack on Gaza has been nothing short of reckless. The thinking can only be the means justifies the end.
I would urge those who are still in denial to go and look at the sort of bombs used in dense civilian areas and the impact they have. Compare it to the wars even in the last 20 years and you will find nothing compares to the bombing campaign of Gaza.
It is indefensible

What on earth has your opinion on Israel's campaign got to do with this thread? This thread is about the marches?

Incidentally, people have now started boycotting Auschwitz.

So if you have a twitter account, maybe give them a follow.
