Read @stomachamaleon ’s post and do a little research.

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 10:37

@Thereissomelight funnily enough I don't need educating about Smotrich. It's like lifting his Wikipedia page. I am aware of his work.

What I said was and I will say it again. He is an individual in a coalition government as is the way in Israel. His views are not shared by most people I know. There are lots of moderate politicians who I can quote to you. To say ' Israel is promoting hatred' is a massive generalisation. His comments are tackled and addressed in Israel.

Not newsworthy though is it?

Livinginanotherworld · 02/01/2024 10:37

It’s a US website to campaign for Palestinian Rights, surely that’s a legitimate site ?

Well this elected official’s comments seem to be well on the way to being enacted in real time in Gaza. With no major protest from Israelis that I have heard about. And he is still in power and I haven’t heard that he has been asked to step down, so at the moment it seems that he does speak for his government and electorate.

noblegiraffe · 02/01/2024 10:54

Did you even look before you said there have been no major protests?

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 10:58

Thank you. I hadn’t seen that. This was a few hundred protestors on Saturday. Hopefully just the beginning.

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 11:03

I stand corrected. Hopefully this gains momentum. Thank you!

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 11:13

@noblegiraffe if I can get around it I will post it.
Before posting utter rubbish it's probably best to check. I don't know how many times you need to be told that he- like Netanyahu- are not a popular politicians in Israel.
And there is plenty of condemnation.

Perhaps in the medium of dance?

That a second paragraph was for @Thereissomelight

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 11:15

@RedJumper13 please see posts below: that is not true. It's perfectly acceptable to speak out and many do.
Do you know many people in Israel at the moment? Or Gaza for that Matter?

stomachameleon · 02/01/2024 11:17

@RedJumper13 and that's the second time you have done that. Posted dodgy content. Will be reporting etc

noblegiraffe · 02/01/2024 11:19

What's wrong with the TikTok of that girl? I think I've missed something.

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 11:20

I wasn’t posting “utter rubbish” unfortunately. Amongst the 9 million people in Israel there are, as you say, some beginning to speak out against this gratuitously racist and violent and criminal government (displaying such behaviours long before Oct 7) but so far nowhere near enough. But hopefully more will begin to do so.

There has been quite a few protests each varying in numbers

This one actually calls Netanyahu out for committing genocide

Parkingt111 · 02/01/2024 11:26

The above one is by voices against war in Israel

Voices Against War is a social media project created by RSN to amplify the voices of those who resist the Israeli occupation of Palestine. For over 20 years, we at Refuser Solidarity Network (RSN) have supported Israeli refusers (conscientious objectors) and anti-occupation resistors.

EmberLight · 02/01/2024 09:11

I clearly stated in my post that it wasn't justified.

But it's also true that people won't put up with being treated like shit forever and this is the context Guterres was referring to.

The two things can be true at the same time.

I'm still struggling with this. "But, but, but"...what is it exactly that you're saying? They were justified to attack but got a bit carried away? Should have just plain old killed people without the torture, rape and burning? There is a logical conclusion to your words and it's not a pleasant one.

noblegiraffe · 02/01/2024 11:32

It does seem to be a variation on 'those women were asking for it'.

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 11:35

Hamas shouldn’t have murdered innocent people. Israel’s elected government shouldn’t be doing it either. Hamas and the Israeli government are both vile and criminal.

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 11:36

Extremists egging each other on. Ordinary people suffer.

noblegiraffe · 02/01/2024 11:40

Hamas shouldn’t have murdered innocent people

Or raped, tortured and kidnapped.

And I agree that Israel's actions in Gaza are abhorrent.

However, the people who did the raping, torturing, kidnapping and murdering - they had to be brought to justice in some way. They can't have just been allowed to get away with it.

Or do you think they should have just got away with it? Do you see the actions of Hamas as 'justice' for the prior actions of Israel?

Thereissomelight · 02/01/2024 11:44

@noblegiraffe No. Do you see Israel’s actions (killing thousands of innocent children) as “justice” for the prior actions of Hamas?
